He dismissed concerns throughout the call, treated us as if she were simply being hysterical, ultimately hanging up leaving my wife in tears. Rather than taking responsibility for the situation or offering support, Sullivan left us with the impression that he considered her unfit to be a mother, by requiring psychiatric sign-off for routine testing. He made our reproductive choice a matter of medical bureaucracy passing us around between other providers, effectively abandoning us. We initially considered continuing with other providers at Buffalo IVF, as other staff seemed competent and compassionate, and we requested to not work with him. On reflection, however, it is deeply troubling that a women's health clinic would tolerate such sexist behaviour from its staff, let alone owner. Reproductive care demands empathy, respect, and professionalism. Sadly, our experience at Buffalo IVF showed the opposite. We strongly urge others to seek care where patients' dignity is valued. Don't waste your time here.

Nothing, she said I needed to come in for a consultation at $250 just for the doctor to tell me the possible steps and prices. I understand that she is not medical (I worked many years a medical secretary) but how do you have absolutely no clue of anything. I called the other facility that my OBGYN gave and wow, night and day. They couldn't give me an exact plan or cost but they were able to give me an idea of what the cost and process was going to look like. I see a lot of the low scores for this facility are mainly because of the office I say call CNY Fertility.

They use a team approach, so during my preganancy I saw a variety of different professionals and they don't guarantee who would do delivery. I saw many different providers and had good experiences with each. I had never met the doctor who did my delivery, but like my experience with each of the other doctors, I found her helpful, knowledgable and comforting as I experienced an adventure you can't understand until you go through it, even with childbirth classes. The staff was as accommodating as possible as I tried to plan the many appointments without having to miss much work. I appreciate the team here and would recommend it to any other ladies.

Her attitude was condescending and intolerant when I asked her to answer questions that I had. For a pediatrician's office, more care should be placed in making the office welcoming to children (age appropriate colors, toys, etc). Doctors should take time to introduce themselves to the children. It is a simple request to have doctors patiently and kindly answer parents' questions. I have never felt so unwelcome at a medical professional's office before. Answering simple questions is part of standard professional practice.

As someone who saved their fathers life with CPR at 12 and has cared for her family, others families and worked multiple jobs since I was a bit taken a back. I politely pointed out that people of all cultures face these and the detriments associated and suddenly I was being told in front of the whole class that it's not a class for people not of color and to find something more inclusive. I immediately left and contacted my doula to express my upset, share why I left and would no longer be attending and see how to proceed. I was met with gaslighting and told no other white people have complained. I then informed her I would be disconnecting the call if I was going to be blamed. I awoke the next morning to an email accusing me of being unprofessional and racist and firing me as a client. I chose them based on a recommendation of a Dr I know personally, turning down other doulas I frankly liked better and I'm about a month away from giving birth to my very sick child. I only hired a doula so I would not be left alone in a room of strangers, after taking my money and stressing me out making me jump through hoops and then this... that's exactly what I'm stuck with. I had even (prior to the email) contacted the owner directly so that we may have a civil and adult conversation about what occurred. That never happened. No one bothered to listen to my story or my voice and they simply copy pasted the same message my doula sent me completely gaslighting my experience. I am absolutely the last person to judge another or dimmish their experience, to treat another based on perception or not give someone the opportunity to discuss a "misunderstanding." I have worked with people of all ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, ages and whatever ever other differences might crop up and I have never treated someone differently or assumed to know anything about them based on that criteria. Once we got the + test, I called and Shannon made it super easy to set up our pre-birth meetings. When we met in person for the first time, we walked out excited to work with Shannon for our pregnancy and the birth of our child. We selected the Queen package. I learned so much during the meetings we had. My HUSBAND learned so much. Shannon set us both at ease and built our confidence. She helped me trust my knowledge and my body, she reminded me to be patient. She was always available by text when I needed her. When it came time for my baby to arrive, Shannon came to our house and helped us in active labor at home. She then met us at the hospital when we thought we were close to transition. Turns out, we weren't that close and my labor ended up lasting 24 hours. Shannon was there the entire time - attentive and helpful, not yawning or distracted. Isia, the woman who would have been our sole doula if Shannon had been called on another birth, was also there for each pre-birth meeting and during most of my labor, learning from Shannon and being a comfort to my spouse and me. Shannon guided us in sticking to the parts of our birth plan that were most valuable to us. She was absolutely the calm lighthouse in the chaotic storm of a hospital birth. After the birth, Shannon came and visited us in the hospital to help my baby and I get the hang of breastfeeding. That was something that was very important to me but I had nerves around. We're at 4 months now and still breastfeeding like champs. Shannon also visited us in home a few days later to make sure we were getting the hang of the new parent life. She is always kind, warm and uplifting. I absolutely recommend every birthing person find a doula - and if you're in Buffalo I full-throatedly recommend Calming Nature.

There should be signs in the waiting room about using phone for videos on silent or with headsets. Because they already have a tv making enough noise. There should also be signs saying you can't use the cell phone as a phone in the waiting room. Headsets are needed. The welcome reception desk is nice. Well organized. Pleasant. Smooth. The appts seemed to be running on time. The rooms were clean and didn't feel cramped. The exit process was easy and smooth too. All in all this was a good place for a dr visit. They lost a star because the waiting room isn't managed as well as it should be. A few signs and a little bit of enforcement from the front desk staff will do wonders. I'd point out the tv isn't needed, or at least the volume doesn't need to be on, closed captions would be fine.

I kept getting promises to get a callback from different staff members by a particular person (office staff) to schedule that surgery and it never happened. I made multiple attempts, Eventually, I got a call to change my annual appointment for another doctor. There was no mention of my surgery, but at that point I had already figured out something else. I know getting helpful medical care in the country is hard, but administrative issues shouldn't be the barrier.

I'm glad I found Ashlyn on here because acupuncture with her has been a fantastic experience. Since going in for treatment, I've felt less stressed, anxious and have more energy to give. I originally went in for some knee / neck injuries, but was also curious to see the effects of acupuncture on anxiety and stress. There's definitely more to her than the treatment itself. Her compassion radiates and she looks at the whole picture (there's a reason your first appointment with her is 90 minutes long and there are no needles used) to give you suggestions for overall health and wellness. I've cut down on coffee significantly, per her suggestion...and that in itself has been a small (but noticeable) change. The first needle treatment we did was a 'cleansing' of sorts, to release the bad 'mojo.' I came into it with an open mind, but knowing that I could truly only measure its effects with how I felt after. The session itself was pretty intense. Lots of sweating -- somewhat painful (but not overwhelmingly so), but I'll tell you that after it, I felt a whole lot of tension leave my body and felt a sense of clarity and happiness. If it was placebo, I'll gladly pay to experience it again. Ashlyn is not cheap, but that's because she spends the entire session with you. Other acupuncturists will often simply stick needles in you and then leave the room, but not her. She simply puts the needle in until the point is stimulated, then withdraws it immediately. It's different than my previous experience, but it works. She also uses matcha quite often to stimulate points before using a needle. I still have ongoing sessions with her, but after a few (the second session where we actually did needle work was more subtle than the first one, but still awesome)...I'm convinced. I'll gladly recommend her to anyone. If you're looking for a phenomenal acupuncturist, stop looking.

In one visit, Ashlyn made the pain go away. Based on that experience, I decided to see Ashlyn regularly with my general health concerns. My asthma has never been better and she even helped alleviate some of my morning sickness. If you have gone to acupuncture before, you have probably not been to an acupuncturist like Ashlyn. I used to go a lot when I lived in California, but I had never been to someone who does 5-element acupuncture. Appointments tend to take a bit longer (especially the first one) and she doesn't actually leave the needles in. She does this thing where she puts the needle in until you feel a twinge (I am sure there is some technical name for this) and then takes it out. It may be disconcerting the first time, but I can't argue with the results.
