There are a lot of positives to this place and we really wanted to like it here. The location is great. We loved that it's a historical home. BUT, Y'all would have earned a better rating except there's a lot of the small details that need to be addressed. First off, if y'all are going to have a door bell to alert the staff that a guest has arrived, please make sure that someone actually answers. Boss Lady walked in and had to search for someone. Secondly, if you're hiring very young people, please teach them all the aspects of hospitality. Thirdly, the breakfast portions are very small. Lastly, the small details make the difference. Please teach your staff to look closely at the rooms. Since there were four of us, we stayed downstairs in the Confederate Room, which was cozy enough but there were a lot of small issues with it. My husband and I stayed at Duff Mansion from 8/26/2025 to 8/29/2025. We were utterly disappointed. It began when Harley texted that no one would be there to greet us due to "world conditions". Seeing the boarded-up doors and windows on nearby buildings, we were concerned. We were never told what she meant. We looked around the grounds. The gardens were overgrown and the pool was filthy. It had dozens of leaves and bugs in it and a thin layer of scum on the water. It was unusable. The patio was pretty but needed care. We entered The Camellia Room and found a thick layer of dust everywhere. Paint spatters were on the furnishings and rugs. A paint can lid had been left on a windowsill. Three windows had cracked panes. While bringing in our suitcases, the doorknob on the outside door fell off. The outside doors were never locked. (Our room itself did have a secure lock.) I contacted Harley immediately upon arrival. My text messages were met with no apologies. We spoke with Harley the next morning and received excuses. The pool was cleaned a bit (but was still unusable). Her husband was unable to find the paint can lid that was still on the windowsill. Harley explained it was hard to keep good cleaning staff and they didn't "like to be checked up on". She stressed the difficulty of keeping such an old home. However, there are no excuses for everyday dirt and disrepair. The breakfast was poor. The "three course meal" started with a first course of a delicious biscuit, jam and a small ramekin of fruit. On the first morning the second course was a tiny slice of quiche. The next morning, we had a single slice of French toast and sausage. We had two small thin inedible pancakes, scrambled eggs, and crispy bacon on our last morning. They tasted like frozen pancakes from Walmart. Every entree was served with a lettuce leaf and slice of tomato. The final course was always a tiny square of pound cake with a bit of whip cream and a single blueberry. We were rushed away quickly, My husband and I have stayed at numerous bed and breakfast places, and breakfast has always been something special. It was always delicious and homemade. Nothing at Duff Mansion appeared to be made onsite. We stayed because we had prepaid the room. (Harley didn't offer any type of recompense.) The location was close to the downtown area and very convenient. We were simply too worn out to bother moving. We would never recommend Duff Mansion. read more

Very nice B&B. We stayed in the Pemberton Suite for two nights. Very spacious room. Pros - pool and breakfast. Cons - awkward to be there while they are hosting private events. Especially when those individuals are dressed up. Two events were held while we were there. Carrying in luggage doing one was uncomfortable. Another con - they allow little kids, and the walls are thin!!!!! Screaming kids does not allow relaxation. I would have much rather been in a room on the bottom floor. We came here to celebrate our anniversary and we wanted something different. We found this online and my husband booked it. The pictures were beautiful and couldn't wait to go. We got several text messages about our stay and instructions on how to get our room keys which I thought was weird and interesting. Upon arrival, we did see the lock boxes outside and just walked in. It wasn't what I expected. No check in or anyone inside. You just literally walk in to your room. We stayed in Annies room. It was small but cozy enough for two people. The bed posts blocked the tv. It was simple. Don't expect any good channels except ancient tv shows and movie channels. The bed was soft and we had achy bodies. As for ghosts? Be prepared to get scared. The door inside our room kept opening and closing during the night, like all the way open. Woke up early door was closed, woke up later to an open door. You will here movement and I made sure my husband was always close by. Breakfast is at 8:30 am. Be on time or be prepared to get stared at and the staff make rude remarks. We walked in 10 minutes late and was sat with another couple who looked frightened and uncomfortable to sit with us. The staff kept staying things under their breath. You get served something different every morning. I was expecting a buffet of eggs and waffles. I kinda wish it was in a way. The only thing that bothered me was the staff always looked angry and unapproachable. We took the tour which was ok until the end when we saw the civil war damaged areas. Other than that, it was a beautiful bed and breakfast. I think we paid a lot for what we got though. But I recommend it to anyone thinking about it. You are walking distance from other museums which was good. I would have given this place 4 stars, but husband said 5 all the way. It's a house full of history and ghosts. But overall, we enjoyed our stay and we talked about coming back here. read more

It was a large room with a king bed and private bathroom (I believe all rooms have private bathrooms). You better go to breakfast hungry because it is a big breakfast and it was delicious. This place is not good at all. my wife and I stayed at the Halpino which is the second Bee and Breakfast to this. Our bed had fleas in it. I got bit up by fleas and ended up bringing some home. Also the breakfast was good they provided however one of the people serving the food was not using proper hygiene. I will not be coming back to this establishment. read more

We had family in town and rented all 5 rooms at the newly opened Halpino. It was the perfect choice! Everything is brand new and the bathrooms are beautifully done. The lobby area has a nice "living room", beverage station and microwave, as well as a large conference table. We certainly made use of it all. The location (in the historic district) is close to everything you might want to see and do. The owners are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Duff Green was amazing. My husband planned us a weekend get away a picked Duff Green to stay. We arrived at 10pm on Friday night and had to call for Information about room. They were very pleasant. We stayed in The Cave Room. It was quiet and so roomy. It was so quiet we Over slept and missed breakfast both mornings (Much needed rest for sure). Need at least 10 stars to come close to our stay at Duff Green. They were fantastic! Arrived early due to our rental car being cancelled (Spring break excuse). Not only were we allowed to check in early but Harley immediately set about taking car of our car rental problem, making sure we got to the Military Park and yesterday, back to the airport. Not only us, but it seemed like everyone was treated like family. Breakfast was served 'family style' - in a royal style. Two tables were set up so you got to meet other people, which was lovely. In fact, each time we walked into town we ran into people we now 'knew'. That 'at home' feeling. Denise, head of housekeeping, was as helpful and wonderful as Harley (owner). Can't say enough great things about the whole staff. After breakfast the group was treated to a tour of the house by Harley and she does an amazing job of bringing you back to the 1856's when the house was built. We were in the Dixie room but everyone seemed quite willing to share views of their rooms, each one being different with lovely antiques. At night we ended up playing games with other guests. Again, more like a family gathering then a hotel stay. Can't praise Duff Green, Harley, Denise and staff enough. Talk about a fantastic stay! read more

We recently stayed at Duff Green for the first time on a trip to Vicksburg to visit family. I'm so glad we did. We really enjoyed our stay, and Harley and her staff couldn't have been nicer and more welcoming. We were checking in a bit late, and received a nice call in advance from one of the staff to just double check our arrival time. She also followed up with us later to make sure the check in went smoothly since she couldn't be there in person. We stayed in the Confederate room, which was spacious and had a separate sitting area. There was a small guest kitchen area nearby with complementary coffee and soft drinks, and and ice maker right outside. I like that the room was much quieter than your typical hotel and we got a great night's sleep both nights we were there. Our breakfast was lovely, and we met two other couples traveling for the holiday weekend. You can't deny that having breakfast served on fine china and in a historical setting beats a cattle call at a hotel breakfast bar any day. Since it was a holiday, we didn't get the typical morning tour that normally takes place after breakfast, but we were able to walk around the main floor on our own for a while and view the beautiful antiques and take some pictures. The morning we checked out, we weren't able to stay for breakfast again but the next time I'm traveling to Vicksburg I'll be sure to stay again and take the tour. Having grown up in Vicksburg and having visited Duff Green several times for other events, it was a treat to finally stay in one of the rooms. It's a beautiful B&B, and we really enjoyed our time there. read more

What a beautiful place to spend Christmas! You will be hard-pressed to find a family more loving and hospitable than the Caldwells. There were six guests whose stay coincided with Christmas, and they were invited to join the family for Christmas dinner and made to feel like family as well! The property itself is absolutely beautiful! Each room is decorated in a stately manner, yet they exude a feeling of warmth as well! I especially enjoyed hearing about some of the home's history. Whenever my travels take me anywhere close to Vicksburg, this is where I'm staying. No question about it! May God continue to bless the Caldwells! read more

Have left my comments with the owner and on Trip Advisor. Stayed here for 4 nights in September and cannot in any good conscience recommend a stay here. Only because I was with three others staying here, did I stay. The sheets and towels at least were clean, if not, it would have been a deal breaker for me. It's not clean, Breakfast was awful and furnishings in the two rooms I stayed in were broken or severely worn and carpeting in one room was dangerously loose between sections of the room. Bring your own shower curtain these were slimy and mouldy. read more

We stayed here for one night on the way back from Memphis to New Orleans and enjoyed a most wonderful room - the Pemberton Suite - at the top of the house. The terrace outside at sunset was so romantic and the tour after breakfast with an external professional tour guide was great. Three negative comments which lost them one star - the welcome at check-in was lacking, emphasis on taking payment rather than greeting us as guests; check-out was non existent with no-one at the desk when we left; breakfast set time was restrictive - 8.30 or no breakfast but this was OK until we find that there was no vegetarian option even though we had advised in advance. Would highly recommend though for the house itself and the good wifi and kitchen facilities. read more

Two years ago on the way to New Orleans, we stopped overnight at an expensive, very average casino hotel in Greenville, Mississippi. This time, we decided to push harder and go all the way to Vicksburg because I found Duff Green Mansion at a significantly lower rate than that casino. Slam dunk, this is how we'll do that drive from now on. The house and accommodations are gorgeous, right down to that delicious old-house smell. The bed was so comfortable I almost didn't want to get out of it, except that there was no way I was going to miss a full-on Southern breakfast. It's served in genteel elegance in the formal dining room on lovely china and crystal. Somehow they found ripe, delicious strawberries and cantaloupe in November. Next came biscuits, quiche, and sweet potato grits, followed by a tiny warm pecan tart. It was just the right amount of food, and it was all marvelous! But maybe the best part is that all the guests sit together, so we met two brothers from Biloxi and two couples from England, and the conversation never stopped. Then, you get to tour the mansion! Rick is a proud Southerner, and explained a lot of Civil War history along with the story of the house itself; it was very enjoyable and informative. Harley stayed in communication with us starting two weeks before we arrived, made sure that our late arrival went smoothly, and pointed us in the direction of the marvelous 10 South Rooftop restaurant a few blocks away. We don't drive to New Orleans very often, but from now on when we do, we will absolutely stay here. read more

We had a fantastic 4 night stay at Green Duff Mansion in December 2018. This is a historic B&B but it is much more because all staff treated us like family. We have stayed in the Dixie room and the Camilla room. Both are very comfortable. Breakfast was freshly cooked each morning and the home tour was very informative. Navigating the historic downtown area is easy and walkable. Area restaurants are great and the other guests were very interesting. I highly recommend this B&B. read more

What a delightful stay I had in the Dixie room at the Duff Green Mansion. Was supposed to be a romantic evening with my husband, but a farm emergency kept him at home. I reluctantly went on alone. Everything was absolutely lovely. Harley was delightful. My room was elegant yet cozy. Breakfast was just what I needed, served in elegance with fine china, crystal, linens, and silver. Wish I knew the name of our tour guide (petite blonde). She delivered her talk as if it were the first time, with passion for her subject and had ready answers for all our questions. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Pemberton room and loved it! The whole house is beautifully appointed and fun to roam around. The breakfast was delicious (especially the biscuits!) and the staff was warm and inviting. The post-breakfast tour of the house was interesting, and many of the things we learned from Jessica, our chef and tour guide, came up again on our tours through other historical locations in Vicksburg. It really "made" the trip to be staying in such a special part of history. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Vicksburg! read more

My friend and I loved our stay here! We were in the Camilla Room on the bottom floor. The room was inviting and lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable and it was quiet as can be there we got a very good night's sleep. The history behind the house is amazing, it's a gorgeous mansion with an adorable garden back patio area. It's definitely worth taking the free tour they provide after breakfast.
