I had to make an unexpected trip to Vicksburg, MS this past weekend for a funeral. I was happy to see that there was a Marriott as a choice of hotels central to where I needed to be! Following a HORRIBLE day of delays and cancellations, the availability at this hotel was the ONLY bright spot to day! Upon arrival, check-in was quick & easy. Asia, the front desk clerk, was soooooo helpful! She had a smile on her face during the entire conversation! I was so tired so once safely in my room, I went straight to bed. When I awoke the next morning, the disturbing revelations began! While getting ready to take a shower, I spotted an odd stain on the ceiling above the bed, a bloody handprint on the back of the bathroom door, a hair on the ceiling above the bathroom sink, mildew in several areas around the shower chair/shower bars/shower heads, an odd stain on the bathroom floor tile, and an awkward stain on one of the 'fresh' towels. While any one of these things may not be too disturbing by itself ---- all of them together is mind-boggling, some even hazardous (bloody hand print!) On the flip side, the hotel was extremely quiet. It was not busy at all. I had parking immediately outside the front door & could see my car from my room window. I was able to park directly beneath a street light. The bed was quite comfortable and the room spacious. The heat/air worked like a charm, as did the water heater!!! I believe this review warrants some further evaluation along with corrective action! Given the area of MS, I still feel that Marriott was the best choice of hotels, but THIS is not Marriott quality! read more

We checked into room 402 for two nights. It was a tight room in an economy no-frills Marriott. The location was great, less than a mile from the battlefield and the historic old downtown. There was large free parking lot in front. There was a small indoor pool, fitness room and coin operated washer & dryer. There was a Bistro in the lobby and a market selling snacks and drinks. Our room was tight for both of us with all of our belongings. We had a small refrigerator and microwave. The room was worn, bed sagged, linens were itchy & towels were thin. I had requested a handicap room when I made my reservations, I am a disabled veteran and told them so when I requested a room on the first level. I was told ok and the reservations were made. When I arrived I was told there are no rooms on the first floor and my room would be upstairs. Then the second day I never received room service. When I inquired at the desk they said I had to request it in the morning. Seems to me they could have mentioned that when I checked in. So the 3rd day, I requested room service and never got it... the staff were rude, there were dead bugs on the floor in the room, the hot tub was out of order, I had to go get clean towels from the front desk myself... it was as if the staff didnt care about the guests - they were just interested in collecting a paycheck, even the old grouchy guy on Saturday. I wont EVER stay there again, not at that one anyway... Id rather go to motel 6 next time for the treatment I got there. over $100 per night and to be treated like I was inconveniencing them for asking them to do their job. Shame on those employees and shame on Courtyard Vicksburg! read more

I don't usually leave bad reviews, but this was one of my worst experiences. When we entered the room, it appeared to have been cleaned. The bed was made... but then I noticed the coffee pot. There was a couple of coffee lids, and sleeves but no cups. There was a long open package that had a small creamer and sugar but was missing the napkin and coffee stir. Then we looked at the coffee pot and saw a used coffee filter still in it. Below the microwave was a sticky counter and in the nightstand was someone's half eaten bag of popcorn. I'm still grossed out, not 100% sure they didn't make the bed without changing the sheets first. We were told it was a busy weekend and there were no available rooms the night before, but seriously, if you don't have time to clean, don't make the room available. read more

This one was a miss for me, gang. There are lots of good review - and I should just let it go - but here is my experience: Front Desk - 5 - greeted coming and going, asked if we needed anything - given the intro since it was our first time - made to feel welcomed. Cleaning crew - 5 - They did their best on the room and were very nice too. Room size - 4 - pretty big - long enough for two queens, loveseat and soft chair plus normal desk, TV area, etc. Room - 312 - We had the good fortune of landing the room with sinking beds - both of them. Arriving so late and tired, we didn't notice until I looked over and saw my party sunken into the mat. Bathroom - We also got the one where a guest decided to dye their hair, leaving dye marks on the picture in the room and dying the tile floor. Looks like dirt until you realize what happened and that you landed the prize room. Please note that I've stayed in some zingers (Excalibur Las Vegas) and The Waldorf so I've been fortunate to see what's great and overlook the not so great. But this just was not 3-4 stars - or I just drew the short straw. So, if going...you know what room to avoid unless Marriott/Franchise Owners correct the room. read more

This property is pretty gross. The customer service at the front desk was horrible and unwilling to assist after the mobile check in did not work for me. He was also extremely rude. The room still had leftover food garbage, as well as garbage strewn across property in the back. I will never stay here again, nor should anyone else. read more

I have a six night stay. I asked for an extra blanket after the first night did not get it. I asked that my room be cleaned after the fifth night. It was not clean the front desk attendant seem more interested in getting the last word then making sure my customer experience was pleasant. We checked it. Normal. We leave the next morning for a full day out and return to the room to just as we left it. We call the front desk for towels. Attendant states that towels are a house keeping issue and she works have to check to see if any are available. She then tells me she informed me upon check in that house keeping comes every other day. Not true. Then she says she directed me to a sign upon check in. Not True. I return to the desk to get the towels that happen to be available and I now see a sign that says the rooms are cleaned every third day due to Covid. WTH. This says we let the place stay as contaminated as possible and we'll bush up twice a week. DISGUSTING. CLEAN THE PLACE TO PREVENT COVID and don't lie about being nasty. read more

Every desk person has been rude to numerous people in our group. We seem to be an inconvenience. Hotel and pool are nice enough.

Very clean, but stops there. Fraudulent charges to my credit card, rude employees, denied access to facilities that were available to others, and the icing on the cake... one of the staff made a RACIST comment under his breath as I walked away. The ladyfriend and I took a trip to Vicksburg on Memorial Day weekend to checkout the sites. We decided to stay the night and after looking through all my points programs I saw that I had enough Marriott points for a free night. Score! We checked in and the guy at the front desk thanked me for being a rewards member and gave me a goodie bag with bottled water, chips and an apple. Everyone should be a rewards member it's free. He also gave us a 40 percent off coupon for breakfast at the hotel restaurant (The Bistro) . The lobby was really cool with an open concept where the Bistro was located. The ladyfriend and I didn't eat the breakfast as we had other plans but did go to the bar that night. They made very good drinks. I had a black cherry Old Fashioned and she had a refreshing drink with a bourbon and ginger. They have these little semi-private booths with TV's and low lighting. Very cool. The rooms were large with a different layout than standard hotels. King sized beds with great pillows and firm mattress. There was a pull out sofa in the room so you sleep like 5-6 people If you are a cheap ass trying to hide people. Hey we've all been there. For the past 6 years this has been the hotel my husband and I (when we started visiting this hotel I wasnt a wife so its seen us thru some changes!!!) Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a young couple, established couple, and a family. Young couple: A top highlight is the fire pit outside that you can enjoy solo or with friends. Also the hotel is afforable. Established couple: A top highlight is the ability to easily accumulate and use Marriot points. Also the cafe area is convenient for quick bites. Family: A top highlight is that rooms come equipped with microwaves and fridges. Also, you are able to get a room with a pull out couch so you don't have to share a bed with the kiddos. Overall, this is one of the top hotel options in Vicksburg MS. I wasn't expecting much when we got to the Courtyard. This location is a lot more pleasant than I was anticipating. The guys at the front desk were friendly and prompt. I thought it was a mistake, but it turned out to be really good (and they give you a 40% discount coupon when you check in!). The room was in okay shape and they're not too far off the highway. The only positive thing about this hotel is nice male employee at the front desk. Our room didn't even look like it had been cleaned fully. Nothing is more disgusting than seeing a used bar of soap with hair from the previous guest still in the shower. Gross. Then I called the front desk and spoke to a young lady at around 11pm. Visiting my husband who is working in the area. We have a room with a king size bed and fold-out, full size, sofa couch. The room seems a bit crowded with this amount of stuff, but a very nice and relaxing set-up. We have an over-look to the fire pit which is quiet lovely. The pool and spa tub are quiet nice, bit a little on the small side. I love that they have a work-out room, however, the tread mills and bicycle need some TLC. Everything is well kept and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They also have Starbucks and food items for purchase which is quiet nice when traveling and not having to leave the hotel. I would stay here again. Ok, I'm not usually this opinionated, but this property should not carry the Marriott name. We rented a two room suite and there was almost no place to sit down. Whoever designed the furnishings/decor of the so-called suite should be made to stay there overnight. The furnishings were terribly dilapidated and looked like they should go to the Goodwill. Our assumption is that the owner simply doesn't want to reinvest profits back into the property. To add insult to our disappointment, the entire hotel lost water so we could not shower to get ready for a funeral we came to Vicksburg to attend. We couldn't even flush the toilet! The staff didn't even call the room to notify us there was a problem either. In the end, we had to hurriedly pack up and move to another hotel to get ready and rush off to the funeral. To cap it off, the management explained to us that there would be no refunds or discounts on our room charge because the water break didn't happen until 3 am. How that makes any logical sense is beyond our comprehension! So much for being a loyal Silver Elite Marriott member! read more

As far as business trip hotels go, this is as good as it gets. A very nice, well appointed, room at a decent price.... exactly what I was hoping to get during my business trip. As said in other reviews, this is a very new hotel.... and it shows. The staff was very attentive and courteous. Make sure to check out the huge touch screen monitor in the lobby when looking up stuff in the local area. Not sure I'll ever get back to Vicksburg.... but if I do, I know where I'll be staying. I have stayed at this hotel 2 times, and have really enjoyed both stays. I can't imagine there are any better options in Vicksburg, though the only other hotel I have stayed at is the Comfort Suites (which is also nice, just not as nice). The hotel is just very well-kept, well-designed, and well-run. For a business traveler, it really has everything you need, even if you are going to spend a lot of time in your room. There is free coffee in the lobby. The room layout is excellent, with a great-for-working desk/chair and a couch to relax on while watching TV at night. The bathrooms are big. There is a refrigerator. The rooms are stylishly decorated. I can be rather picky, but I cannot think of anything for the hotel to improve on. Also, you can walk to Cracker Barrel and a casual Italian restaurant. Both are in the adjacent (small) outlet mall. I will stay in this hotel every time I come to town. read more

I was a little worried about options in Vicksburg but the Courtyard eased my worry. The first thing I noticed is how quiet it was. I am not sure if that was just a stroke of luck or a well insulated place. The room was fairly clean (my traveling buddy was very turned off by the visible dirty foot prints on the bathroom floor, which I get), the staff very nice (Keithen was very professional and friendly). There was plenty of room, relatively modern furnishings and a large business lounge. It was a little difficult to keep a comfortable and consistent temperature in the room, but I think that is the case with all hotels. We did not check out the pool or the bar. The best part was the very comfortable beds. I slept like a rock. One thing we noticed about hotels in the south is there is no continental breakfast. For a better than average place to stay, this is it. read more

Arrived in the middle of the night. I was greeted as I walked in. The room was clean, the decor was nothing to right home about. The hotel has some wear and tear but looks like maintenance is keeping things up and running. I utilized the gym which had 3 treadmills , 2 ellipticals, a few barbells, 1 bench, and a life fitness machine. They did provide clean towels and water. I looked in the pool area and it was clean. There is a bistro located in the lobby, which does serve breakfast but it's not complimentary. Overall the stay was nice, the staff was pleasant and helpful. read more

Called 3 weeks in advance to ask for connecting rooms. No guarantees but I was told we could at least keep our family close. We arrive one room on 1st floor the other on the 4th floor. We were told cleaning staff was short etc..... What they should have said was we got 3 busloads of people and everyone else took the rooms that were connected. Rooms were "cleanish" but a little substandard to what I've stayed in lately. Staff was courteous but completely indifferent to the room separation. I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Vicksburg during a recent business trip. During my three day stay, I started noticing bug bites on the back of my thighs. Even though I was wearing pants the whole trip, I assumed they were mosquito bites since I had been walking outside at night and don't travel much. After returning home, the bites got worse and turned into welts. I went to the dermatologist and they diagnosed them as bed bug bites. I had to get a steroid shot and medication to help treat the affected areas. Once I found out there were bed bugs in my hotel room, I immediately contacted the manager. He said he would have the room checked and get back with me. It has now been a week and the manager has yet to contact me. I have called back every day this week to follow up and left messages but no response. read more

It's 3am and I can't sleep and I need earplugs and when an obviously sleep deprived customer is asking for earplugs the proper response to "spring hill suites had them" is not "we're not spring hill, we're courtyard" no sorry that we don't have them no nothing. Sorry that I interrupted your TV watching or whatever you were doing. This is the third establishment in Vicksburg I have visited and all three placed treated me like an inconvenience, well sorry you hate your life and that you have to live here but I thought at least some semblance of customer service would exist. Clearly not. Oh well, who needs sleep? Eta The room is actually really nice and this is a nice hotel...although the bistro food smells kinda weird. I would stay here again. Highly recommend this place!! Very nice hotel, with exceptional staff. The room was spacious and quiet, the bathroom was large with a full sized tub/shower, and everything was sparkling clean from top to bottom. The entire place smelled clean and fresh from the moment we stepped inside. (As a frequent traveler, this is notable because it's not always the case.) Rodney at the front desk and Dawn at the breakfast counter were both outstanding in their friendliness and attentiveness, and the made-to-order breakfast was fantastic. At $130 per night for three people, this is a great value. We will definitely stay here again. read more

I traveled in state on a short business trip and booked a room here for a quick overnight. I'm used to staying in smaller towns and having to figure out where to go for dinner, but upon check-in, I was pleasantly surprised to find they had a restaurant and full bar on site! (Obviously I haven't stayed at a Courtyard Marriott in a few years.) The front desk agent was friendly efficient and gave me a 40% off coupon for dinner. They have happy hour during the week until 7 pm, and even without the coupon, dinner was reasonable and very good. Staff was pleasant and attentive. This is a great space for work -- free wifi, a quiet business office area adjacent to the living-room like lobby area, and little cubbies where you can hide and finish up work while enjoying a beverage. Breakfast was also good and the Starbucks on site was a definite plus. The room was spacious and clean; my only complaint was the mattress being too soft. However, I will be back! read more

I come to Vicksburg every year for a family reunion and will make sure to stay here from now on!
