Rinx was the venue of the first Yelp event I attended a couple years ago, and I was back recently for a staff townhall/fun day. The conference room they have is quite nice and holds up well to many other venues. There were issues with the wireless mic working properly for a bit at the beginning however. The food was probably the lowest point and they may wish to consider stepping up their options for groups like the one we had, depending on how serious they are to have corporate groups come in. With that said, Rinx has nearly a dozen separate activities and they deserve credit for pulling that off. The bumper cars/whiffle-ball game was almost universally regarded as one of the favourites. I hadn't played laser tag in nearly two decades, but it was fun doing it again and the arena they had for it was up there with most I played in back in the day. Everyone loves bowling, and the games room is an easy crowd pleaser with: air hockey, fussball, pool etc...There's a few others as well, and about the only one that was a bit poor was the mini golf which felt like they designed it as a bit of an afterthought. There is also a roller rink, though it was not used for the event. The staff did their job, but could do better at smiling and showing better customer service than just the basic level. There's a few things Rinx could improve upon, but they still deserve a lot of credit for offering so much, and surely something for everyone. It's worth checking out for sure. read more

What A fun night! We had so much fun. Firstly we made our way to the bumper cars next we tried Time Freak then we went bowling. We sampled some cupcakes cookies waffles on a stick corn dogs, and what carnival is complete without cotton candy! The beers we sampled from Mill Street and Amsterdam were delicious thank you so much to all of the vendors. Thank you so much for organising this fun Yelp carnival event. I've worked with Rinx on two separate events and have been one other time just 'cause, and it's a really special place. At first, I sort of thought about it as a slightly suburban bar/bat mitzvah factory just north of downtown. I thought it would be fun for a one off event, but not really a place I would get excited about. Well, I was wrong. This place is the shit. From bowling, to mini golf to weird laser tag and rink happenings, this place really has a lot going on. Yes, you have to lean into the slightly dated-ness of it, but they sure know how to party. Beyond all of the fun extras, they also have a really decent kitchen! If you're looking to plan an event (from children's parties, to team building, to a raging stag and doe), they can pretty much do any kind of menu. Is it gourmet dining? No. But it's super fun, and they're open to try anything you can dream up. Go on, play like a kid! read more

I play hockey at the Rinx regularly. Rink 2 is fine, rink 3 is tired and rink 1 is really worn down and seriously needs maintenance (plus has a very low ceiling and feels like a smaller rink...). I wonder if they have done any at all in the last twenty years... The doors at the benches can barely be opened, the ceiling looks like it will fall down any second... I give them two stars for sloppiness, there are so many easy fixes they can do that they never do. Ice is decent though (except for the bumpy ride around the Zamboni entrance and in the corners....). The showers are...well, let's just say that only 1-2 out of the 20 guys I play with will use it...the rest will go home instead... Have never tried the restaurant or rest of the facilities. I have used the pro shop a couple of times, always friendly and quick. However the selection of merchandise is very limited (only been there in the summer though) and the sharpening has been of varied quality (one time very poor, the others decent)...I have never figured out when they are open though... Anyway, don't be afraid of going there for hockey. Just don't expect anything high end. read more

I give this place a ZERO = 0 The party room they booked me in was dirty and never cleaned, the mini cosmo bowling i booked didnt work and the kids did nothing for the second activity. i got no apologies about this or status if it was ever going to get fixed. ive asked for water for me and my guests several times and didnt get til the last 30mins of my party. all the staff there were kids and they didnt care about quality or customer satisfaction. the host assigned to me did nothing. He' supposed to help serve food and drinks to the kids...he was alway MIA. he never brought the supplies in time. Poor kid didnt get proper training or he was just not into working and working on a saturday! the cosmic golf smelled like dirty laundry. i wrote a long letter to the company with details of my experience and i still havent gotten a response from them. i booked my son' party back in March 31 with 17 kids. ive booked tons of venue for bday parties having three kids - this is by far the worst place i have ever been. i will not be recommending this place to anyone. they charge so much to use the facility and you get crap service and quality. This is one of those big ex-warehouse places with lots of indoor games and party rooms. It's mostly for kids, but they do "Team-building" corporate parties too. I was here for a birthday party on a Friday night (and the place was otherwise empty), and we played the main attraction, "whirly-ball", which is essentially team whiffleball in bumper cars. It's really fun with a big group, but more physically demanding than you'd think. Be sure to wear cool, comfortable clothes, since everyone that I went with got battered inside the cars pretty thoroughly; also keep in mind that you get pretty grimy by the end of it too. read more

Attended a 7-year-old's birthday party at Rinx and everyone had a great time. Definitely more of a boy's place but the girls also seemed to be having a blast. I didn't go in the ball blaster room but it looked fun. The adults joined the kids in laser tag and again it was good fun, but many of the vests/blasters didn't work properly so was a bit disappointing. The pizza was pretty tasty but the cake was not -- tasted freezer burnt, and appearance-wise, was unimpressive. The biggest negative is that the areas/party rooms near the hockey rink stink of hockey gear. Ask for a room further away! read more

Fun place! We had a laser tag birthday party here and everyone (kids and adults) had a blast. This is obvious but ... guard your belongings carefully. Cash stolen from your wallet will put a damper on all the fun. Rooms do lock, though the room supervisor may not have a key on his/her person and will need to go find one. The locking/unlocking process seems awkward. Keypads or passcards might be a nice update for RINX to consider. Kids said the pizza was good! Staff was friendly and helpful. read more

Laser tag, bowling, ball hockey and more! That's what the Rinx is all about. BOWLING Bowling was fun. They had ten pins and you bowled with the little balls. I definitely think it's a great venue for a party for children and for adults. You just have to give it a chance. I know I wasn't too impressed when I first walked in but that soon changed once we started playing. There are only 4 lanes and 6 people per lane. The lanes were probably half the length and width of a typical bowling lane but it didn't stop us from having fun. They dimmed the lights and played top 40 music. My only quip is that it got really hot in the small enclosed environment and we couldn't put our names on the screens. We had to remember what number we were. LASER TAG Laser tag was really fun. There are 4 areas where you could shoot a person to gain points. The maze was dark and had glow in the dark paint splattered everywhere. There weren't very many different levels and the arena seemed a bit small. I guess it's good if you have a small number of people. It just wasn't very challenging. But seriously though, they should make sure their equipment is in all working order. I had to change my gun and vest 3 times in one game b/c I couldn't shoot anyone. Others had the same problem. And they only displayed the record for the people who ranked in the top 10. You also had to figure out what player number you were b/c they didn't input your name. FOOD The food was alright. We had rice, vegetables, potatoes and some meat. It was a bit try and they probably could have used more sauce but it was still edible. BILLARDS They have a separate section for the private rooms to play billards. They have 3 tables. But why don't they have a complete set of balls? There was no 8 ball for one of the tables and some of the cues were broken. SMELL oh but this is the part that really got me grossed out. There is an area for people to play ball hockey. And boy did it stink. The smell was nauseating. I don't know if it was the smell of the people playing, the arena from poor cleaning or the equipment that people wore but I had to run through that area as fast as I could otherwise I would have probably fainted. read more

I held my birthday party this year at Rinx, and was pretty pleased with how the whole process went. Jodi is the Director of Special Events who helped me with most of the planning via email, and she made the whole process pretty easy and stress-free. When I had questions for her, she would respond to me in a timely manner, and gave me a timeline right off the bat as to when I needed to confirm certain details with her, when they would be processing payment, etc. The actual event space is huge, and has multiple party rooms, as well as areas for all of their activities, of which they have many. There's laser tag, a large roller skating rink, ice skating rinks, bowling lanes, a Cyber Sport court (more on this later), and a few others. I think they could have better signage perhaps given the size of the venue, because a number of my friends told me they had a hard time finding our party room. After 7PM they close the reception desk, so there's really no one to ask for help or directions, they just leave out a little whiteboard sign with the name of your party and location. When you book an event here, you get the use of a party room for the duration of your stay, free coffee, tea, and water, and an event co-ordinator who takes you around to the various activities and explains rules and stuff to you. Our co-ordinator seemed like a pleasant young man, he wasn't like overly enthusiastic or interactive, but he kept us on schedule and did a pretty good job. We chose to do two activities (for one hour each) - Cyber Sport and Laser Tag. Cyber Sport was actually hilarious and I think so long as you have a group between 10-20 people it's definitely something you should try! 10 people can play at a time (9 for us because one cart was broken), and you sit in these bumper car-type things and have to use a scooper to pass the ball amongst your team and shoot it into the goal areas that are high up on the wall. It is challenging, but so so much fun. Laser Tag is the same as at any other place - if anything the area is a bit on the smaller side (compared to other places that are solely dedicated to Laser Tag) and only has one floor. Our co-ordinator got a bit more involved here, letting us play rounds that were free-for-all, then helping us split into two teams and then four teams for a subsequent game. Some of their equipment doesn't work either fully or partially (i.e. some guns didn't have a laser beam pointer thing), but overall it was still a good time for all. It does get pretty stuffy in the game area though. I thought the price was reasonable as well - they charge you based on the number of activities you pick, so for 2 activities (2 hours) it was $30/person + HST + 10% service charge for $36.90/person. You can pay for them to prepare food for your event as well, although we didn't. One negative I would note is that they don't let you bring your own food or beverages, except cake and packaged chips, but it's not a huge deal. Overall, I think this is a great place for parties or corporate events, mostly because it's so easy from a planning point of a view and even on the day of, the staff really help to make sure everything runs smoothly and according to plan. cons: unorganized timing, they were late in cleaning and preparing the party room for my event. The planned time of events werent as they were planned because apparently the pizza was late. Also, dont pay cash. There were issues in providing a refund for a pizza and one of the staff members at the front desk who pocketed what was supposed to be my change. She was supposed to give me my change because she didnt have it at the moment for whatever reason ,but she never did give it to me. I didnt realize until after the party. I called but apparently the change was given to my husband, which is a lie she told her supervisor to cover her ass. Pros: the manager is very nice and helpful, as was my party hostess. read more

Didn't play here. I've watched 2 games here. Things I like about this place. The pro shop stays open until 11PM. I wish they did that in California. It's an arena, it's supposed to be cold. This place is cold. There is a bar. There is a mini sheet for practice, the Training Room. What's not to love? Right around the corner from restaurants. read more

Wow. All I have to say is wow. The event I went to here was so much fun! It's a great space w different areas focused on different games and sports. It's a very entertaining spot to say the least. It's a little bit of a track to get to by ttc but driving it's quite easy by highway. Perfect spot for a birthday or event. Pricing seemed fair but it's hard to judge because I haven't gone on a regular day but I have to say I am hooked and definitely want to go back to try everything there! Probably will on an "off day" because it seems like it can get crowded pretty easily, being the great spot that it is. read more

Went for a Yelp event and was very impressed with the entire venue. Rinx is super spacious and it seems like it can be transformed for almost any type of event. They had a bowling alley, laser tag room, and target room as well as a palm reader, tarot card reader, and food vendors from all over toronto. Attended the Yelp event that happened here, overall I had a good time. There were a lot of different things to see an do. I think it would be a great place for a party or function. I'm not sure how much it costs, so I cant really comment on the value, but it was still pretty fun. There was coat check at the event, not sure about on a regular day/night, but great to have for cold days. They have a ton of attractions here to keep you busy. -Laser tag - haven't done it in awhile, I enjoyed it here, the system and equipment was pretty decent -cyber sport - super fun with the carts and lacrosse style. Its challenging, but fun -bowling - I didn' have the chance, but looked clean and slick. They also had music along with the music video playing right above the pits where the pins are which was different from what I experienced. -balladium - fun...kind of reminded me of american gladiators when the contestants were racing to the end trying to hit the target above the gladiator. Be careful of all the static that the game generates, it's electrifying -time freak - super fun and competitive, I liked how it was room sized and not just a wall of buttons, I was spent playing 2 rounds in a row, 1 minute each -photobooths - people loved it, I didnt participate much with this though -skating rink is huge! - there wasnt skating at the time cause of the vendors, but it look proper. The place was really big, I was kind of glad that there wasn't shoulder to shoulder action going on. Some people mentioned a smell or odor, I tried to look for it, but I didn't notice anything. If I had a big enough group I would probably bring them here to at least try once, I recommend it. read more

I had a birthday party (adult) on June 5th at Rinx. We had a poor experience during the Cyber Sport portion of the party that I expressed to multiple people at Rinx. We had no problem with the laser tag portion of the party and the staff were very kind, however we did not get to enjoy the Cyber Sport at all as the game did not function properly for more than 2 consecutive minutes. I would not try Cyber Sport again after all the issues we had during the party. One of the staff even said the cars are always acting up. I am most upset by the lack of effort from management to acknowledge my poor experience. I tried getting in contact with management several times and the general manager never responded to my emails or returned any of my phone calls. Very disappointing, would not return here. read more

If you are thinking of hosting a party at RINX, do think again. They boast themselves as being home to newly renovated party rooms and have pictures to prove it. But do not be fooled - not all their party rooms look as they do on the website and they post no disclaimers either. The birthday coordinator, Shauna, even has this byline on her email signature: All New Party Rooms & Ask about our NEW Glow in the Dark Party Room! Do not be fooled. I ended up in Party Room 2 - which according to Matt was a nice room. It wasn't. There were marks on the glass window, purple walls and badly stained seats that I didn't want to sit on them. It was disgusting. Not worth your money - and most of all, they misrepresent themselves and hide behind the wording, "we do not guarantee party rooms for events.' When I pointed out to Matt my complaint had nothing to do with guaranteeing a room, but rather with what they claim and show on their website as renovated party rooms, he insisted that the room I was in was renovated. I guess he had to do that since saying otherwise would be admitting to the dark, drab-looking room. Makes me wonder what the not so nice rooms look like. read more

Visited recently for the Yelp Carnival Event. What a blast. This facility has it all. Bowling, mini golf, bumper cars, etc. Most importantly they have enthusiastic and helpful staff who truly made the evening something special. HORRIBLE experience. I booked them for a corporate event and played 4 games, had lunch and drinks. Two of the games were broken (Cyber sports and Time freak) and the coordinator gave us wrong vests and ruined our laser tag game. When I told him, he said: "yea so we're moving to your next game now". They have charged me extra and I've been unsuccessful to get a hold of them since Friday. This has been by far THE WORST corporate event I have organized for our company. read more

What a fantastic night I had at my first time here! There are lots of different rooms/rinks/areas in this place, so you can really fit a lot of people in here. There is a rollerblading rink, there are also ice rinks (I think there were reserved for hockey games when we were there, so you might want to check first), bowling lanes, laser tag, glow in the dark mini golf (Carly who worked there was AWESOME), in fact, all of the Rinx staff were friendly and helpful. There are also bumper cars with scoop ball and lots of other rooms as well. Great set up for large groups of people! I was pleasantly surprised by the good food that the Rinx staff provided: mini corn dogs on sticks, popcorn, waffles on a stick, pizza etc. And they were really generous, I felt like the nice ladies wanted me to eat more - not like some places you go and servers race past you! The only (slight) drawback is that it's not really close to a subway, but you could take a bus and then walk in from Dufferin St. (approx 5 mins or so). Really fun! I went here about 2 years ago, the ladies that you check in with talk behind your back when they think you can't hear them and make unkind remarks. Some of the vests in laser tag did not work, which lead to certain people winning because it was like they were not hit. The whole place seemed kind of sketchy, and for the price I would not host a birthday party here. read more

My friend invited us to celebrate her birthday party here, she paid $400+ (the cost for around 12 people) there was no option to only pay for 6 people. Also, the security is crappy, do not leave valuables inside the party room or even bring it there. It is a guarantee that your cash or items will be stolen. In addition, we were late so we already lost a few minutes off the games, (we were playing lazer tag) but since the lazer guns were not working we had to wait for another few minutes. Lastly, the worker that were in charge of us was bad, while we were eating our pizza's and was done. We left a plate that has more than a few pizza slices covered with a paper tissue on the side of the table. Thinking that she (the worker) will not throw it away, since it was obvious that there was un-touched pizza slices there. Guess what? she threw it away, not even asking. My overall rating is, bleh, do not go here. Lastly, I have asked the worker that was in charge of us to double check the room but no. She took too long chatting with some other workers and arrived to us saying it was not there. read more
