The size of the community is good for my mom. It's smaller, and we knew it wouldn't be overwhelming for mom to learn her way around. It's also one of the cleanest, and it never smells bad. The residents are happy and friendly and keep busy throughout the week. The activities director is a ball of energy, and a bit goofy, but the residents all love her. I read another review about bed bugs, which prompted me to write this review actually, because it was unfair and not accurate. They did have a resident that was a hoarder, and had bed bugs in the room in mid 2016. Mom's been there for 3 years, so I know all of the details, unlike the other guy. When the problem was discovered Prestige notified all of the residents and families that there was a room found with bed bugs. And that they were going to be proactive and treat the entire place, including every single room. They also were going to continue to treat common areas for a couple of months until they were confident the problem was gone. They don't hide the issue from anyone, because I've personally seen the maintenance director checking new residents furniture when people move in to ensure no one is bringing the problem back in to the building again. I asked what was going on and I was told "oh, we let new move-ins know that we are going to check all furniture now before it comes in the building to make sure there are no bed bugs. We don't want to have that problem again." As someone who travels around the valley I can tell you that most places have had bed bugs, and it is the unspoken plague a lot are dealing with. The care here is great. The staff are kind, and attentive and go out of their way to try and meet the needs of all the residents. I see this every time I visit. There have been changes with management in different areas, but the running of things has always remained consistent for the most part. All of the managers are friendly and willing to help with whatever I may need at the moment. We have never regretted moving Mom in here for a moment.

All 'Management' at Sunrise has gone through the trials and tribulations (some still are) of being Caregivers themselves. To me, this made it real. Mary at the front desk. She's my anchor. BUT, the only thing of importance or validation is how my family member is doing? Well, in two days, he will celebrate his one month at Sunrise. He came from basically bedridden, in his room, with no social interaction, to walking to/from meals on his walker and wanting to spend a lotta time in the living room with other residents. To me, this is a miracle. Yes, he does have a DPT come in three times a week, but if he didn't have the WILL to get up and walk to meals and living room, well, PT would have no impact. My family member feels safe, happy, and loved here at Sunrise and he prefers their meals to take out! I feel incredibly blessed and gifted. You have no idea what it is like to finally feel that I have made the very best decision for his care and happiness, and this time, I made the right decision.

I happened to be here on Christmas Eve and the General manager, Dawn stood out to me because she was helping out with taking orders and busting tables. I have been to so many retirement homes and assisted living homes and I never see the managers or directors helping in the kitchen, especially not on Christmas. Dawn put a net over her hair and go to work. She spoke to everyone and had such a pleasant attitude. I think she is an amazing example of a leader. More establishments need to take note! Next, Olly!
