TL;DR/The Short Version: One of 2 RONAs in close proximity…read moreto each other. This one has a smaller garden centre than the other one. The Long Version: So I find it a bit odd that there are 2 RONA locations within a kilometre and a half of each other. This one is at 340 West Hunt Club and the other one is at 585 West Hunt Club. I then remembered that this one used to be a Lowe's before Lowe's pulled out of Canada. It's actually a RONA+ while the other one is just a plain RONA. What's the difference, you ask? Technically the RONA+ is supposed to focus more on style with more offerings while the regular RONAs are more the traditional hardware and home improvement stores. Do I notice the difference? Not really, lol. In fact, this RONA has LESS selection when it comes to indoor plants, than the other location. And I would consider indoor plants more to do with style and decor, but whatever, I don't run these places. Haha. The thing that I've noticed about all RONA locations though, and this one is no different, is that their washrooms are very clean. And the set up is hygienic. There are no doors to the washrooms (don't worry, there are doors to the stalls, lol). So after you've freshly washed your hands you don't contaminate them by touching dirty door handles. I appreciate design features like this. Anyway, this location is good for home improvement and hardware. I'm not really convinced that it has more selection for home furnishings than other locations. Not a lot of staff either. When I approached customer service It felt like I was bothering the three women standing there. But they did help me. Oh well! Going to Home Depot across the street to get my bike hooks. Very clean, lots of parking.

The Long Version: We are looking for a new sink for our laundry room, so stopped by this Home Depot to look at sinks. They had a few options which we are considering. Since I recently started getting into plants, I also took a look at their indoor plants section. It was March and the selection was not bad. The plants were in ok shape in general. No plants looked in really rough shape like I saw at the RONA down the street. However, I was looking for a Pilea Peperomioides and they had quite a few at a good price ($7.99), but none nice and healthy enough that I wanted to take home. They all had some scarred, yellowing or dead leaves. They had some cute succulents though that I would have gotten if I was in the market for them at the time. Plants at big box stores don't usually get the best care, but they are much cheaper than at speciality shops, so that's the trade-off. Plants, aside, this Home Depot location is really big and has all the usual items you need for home improvement projects. The washrooms here were exceptionally clean during my visit and I like how the exit door is a push and not a pull. I hate having to pull a handle after I have freshly washed my hands, lol. He wasted the paint, told me that he couldn't mix a quart because it doesn't fit in the machine and it wasn't the right size??!! Home Depot should really invest more time into training their staff or not leaving staff that are un knowledgable and unable to do their job to serve the public. Thankfully, we were able to get help at the neighbouring Rona.. Gabe at Rona is super knowledgable and outstanding and knows a lot about paint unlike those working at Home Depot.

Norm D is right though: they don't sell lumber (note: the TSC in Arnprior doesn't sell lumber either). On the other hand, there's more of a feel of a family run operation here, it feels like a small-town hardware store. They do offer a lot of plumbing needs, and bathroom sinks and vanities, along with other hardware store items. I will definitely go back.

I was driving out to Manotick and just happened to spot this new Rona store located on Bankfield…read moreRoad. Needing a few tools, I decided to make a stop here. Unfortunately, this Rona is a small store and it only has a very small selection of basic tools. I decided to look around and see what other products were for sale. I did eventually find some construction glue, tape and a few other items to buy. With my purchases in hand, I walked over to the cash register. The male cashier was looking at me with a weird (bizarre) expression on his face. Abruptly the cashier said, "You have to pay. You have to pay for the merchandise." Looking at the products being held in my hands I exclaimed, "Everything I'm buying is right here." The cashier rudely said, "How are you paying?" I replied, "With my credit card." Next, the cashier demanded that I show him a piece of photo ID. My planned purchases were for about $60.00. Feeling disgusted, I immediately placed the items onto the counter and walked straight out of the door. While I did briefly look around in this store, the cashier jumped to the totally false conclusion that I was trying to steal something. This store has only a small floor space and a very limited selection of tools and materials for sale, which are used in construction. Given my treatment I will never go back to Rona Manotick on Bankfield Road. Having such a poor shopping experience, I can't in any way recommend this Rona to anyone. I would have rated this Rona with no stars, but you have to give a least one star when writing a review.
