I called The Empty Vase to ask about arrangements and pricing, and the man who answered the phone sounded very impatient from the start. He couldn't provide me with any price information, asked me what the price was supposed to be for the arrangement I wanted, and said he wasn't by the computer. Then, despite not being able to answer basic questions, he wanted to take my card information. That didn't sit right with me. I told him he sounded impatient and that I wasn't comfortable spending my money there. I ended up hanging up and taking my business elsewhere. I called and ordered a gift certificate for a belated birthday/early holiday gift for cousin on Nov. 13 so she could use since I knew she had houseguests coming. After Thanksgiving, she had still not received in mail. I called to check on it & owner he said "Oh...we were out of gift certificates then, I'll send now". Christmas came & went...she FINALLY received a $75 gift certificate (printed sheet of paper) on Dec. 27th! But my credit card was charged $85+! $10 for a sheet of paper & a stamp??!! He did not mention the extra charge when I ordered via phone. VERY unprofessional. My cousin doesn't even need it now, all her guests have come and gone! I live in Houston and when my uncle passed in Little Rock, I opted to order from a local florist. My Little Rock family are loyal Tipton and Hurst customers, but I am not able to pay the higher prices that they charge. After seeing the good Yelp reviews, I called The Empty Vase and Terry graciously assisted me with a last-minute funeral flower basket. He called his flower supplier to make sure that the flowers I wanted to use were available and took all my information. The morning of the funeral Mike called me because I had given them the incorrect funeral home information. He told me that they would gladly deliver the basket to the church instead. The flower basket was truly beautiful and looked even better than the online photo. The springtime colors were nice against the midnight blue casket and brightly stood out from the usual neutral funeral flower colors. I was very happy with this transaction. I decided to use this florist instead of my usual one because of the reviews. I walked in and told them I needed something pretty and mid-priced and compact. I was told I could pick it up later that day. It was exactly what I wanted. On our anniversary, my wife said that it was the prettiest arrangement she had ever gotten (and she has gotten a lot over the years) and asked where I got it. My boyfriend had flowers sent to me at work. I was shocked by the appearance when I picked them up. The tulips were a weird shade of gray and not bloomed yet, had dying leaves attached, the filler was some sort of scratchy green pine needle looking mess which was not pretty, the CLEAR vase had DIRT on the bottom, and the bow stuck in the arrangement with the wire VISIBLE through the glass looked as if it were stolen from the dumpster and added at the last minute. They refused to refund me or to resend the arrangement. I found their customer service to be rude and unprofessional. My brother and I used The Empty Vase for my mother-in-laws funeral today. The large basket for the altar was an absolutely gorgeous arrangement of roses, carnations, lilies and many other flowers I cannot name. Point being it was simply beautiful! There was also a smaller arrangement for the guest book table that was equally colorful and received many compliments. With prices that are at least 1/3 less than Tipton Hurst and with such artistic arrangement, you can't lose when you use this florist. read more
