We escaped! I like their backdrop.

We had been wanting to do an escape room lately, my husband & I like to work together on those types of puzzles and games. I saw this escape room business on Yelp as pretty well recommended. I checked out their website, which was very helpful in describing their rooms and difficulty levels. I booked their pirate themed escape room, Tides of Treason, just the two of us for $55. It was all over their website to show up early. They also emailed me their online waivers ahead of time. I appreciated that very much. We arrived early, and their website made it clear that parking was limited, and that was very much is true. There's maybe 10 or so parking spots, so definitely carpool. We were also instructed to call ahead before walking in to help with crowds and prevent sickness but they seemed pretty chill when we called & entered. We were greeted tonight by a woman named Mandy. She just asked us if we signed the waivers, if we needed to go to the restroom, and that we could start our game early. That was nice to not have to wait around. We entered our room and it seemed small at first. Mandy told us that the room was rather finicky and touchy so to not tear things apart and to understand things might not always work the first time. That left a somewhat bad first impression on us because I expected a pretty professionally done escape room. I guess that's just what happens over time? We watched 2 videos, one about game safety and another about the game's specific story telling and how to escape. They use this branded tape around the rooms to clearly mark what's off limits and not to be tampered with. I appreciated that communication. Our game was pretty fun. It was mostly puzzles with a little story telling. We only asked for one hint, and the guy who provided it knew exactly what we needed, it was a really easy puzzle part to miss because it blended in and low lighting. That's the best way I can describe it without giving away gameplay. When it came up on time the game host let us finish because we were 2 steps away from finishing and exiting the room, and we might have been the last group of the night, so it was really nice of them to let us complete the puzzle instead of rushing us out. My completionist side really appreciated that courtesy. Overall I wasn't incredibly impressed with our experience but it was still a fun bonding date. They took our picture on my personal device and not on their devices for marketing material like some places do. We might let the rooms cycle through again before we try another one. Thanks for a fun date night!

We had a blast doing the Murder Mystery Dinner themed room. It was just two of us with the room to ourselves, and we were just two steps away from making our escape. Close, but no cigar. Some of the clues were actually pretty tough, and some were super obvious. It would be a great room for a family with kids of multiple ages. Everyone can help!

We escaped the Four Brothers with 3:30 left on the clock!

Like a number code lock or a directional lock that you see in typical escape rooms. Additionally the rooms were beautiful. That being said it was so different that we were unsure if we were allowed to interact the game in unique ways. Such as digging thorugh the sandy floor for a hidden key. Or dripping water on some of the props to open a door. I didn't even know that was allowed as escape rooms have a long list of rules on how you may interact with the game. So I feel somewhat cheated as I thought those actions would of been prohibited but were actually the main game. I would challenge you guys to find a way to show this is a part of the game while not explicitly giving it away. Overall, this is an amazing escape room and even if I have some gripes this place definitely spoiled every escape room I'll ever play.

We didn't end up finishing the room on time, which was completely fine, until the game master spoke to us after. She explained, in a rude tone, that the only reason we didn't get out on time was because we "showed up late." She then called out our mother to say that she should've received emails saying that we needed to be there 20 minutes early, and since we showed up exactly at our time slot, it cut into our time in the room. There were also parts of the room that weren't accessibility friendly, whether physically or if you were hard of hearing. Overall the escape room was very long, but a well thought out room. I think the customer service could've been better, allow it to be more accessible, and they need to have their time slots allocating for the introduction, rules, waivers, etc. instead of relying on the customer to read multiple emails to get there early, especially when situations can come up causing the customers to run late.

The building is painted on the outside with the new BSTA logo of their themed rooms. The door to enter is teal and is west-facing. We were greeted by Brandon who checked us in, did a costume change, and got us started. They played a video that Brandon acted along with as our room introduction. The room was fun - as always - but what was new to me was that their new concept is multi-episodal AND each room has different endings that affect other episodes! I was so impressed to learn that when we were finished. This first room has 4 different endings depending on your level of success. We finished with mere seconds to spare. Brandon was fun to have as a GM and asked if we would like to track our progress through the episodes and track our different endings in a book they were selling for $5. I was so immersed, we bought the book! I'm really excited about what they have planned next and look forward to coming back.

As soon as I stumbled upon the Key Quest Escape Room, I knew this was a great match. The bride has a degree in Criminology and one of their scenarios, The Cellar, is centered around a story about a serial killer. What a match! To make sure everything ran smoothly, I made a reservation in advance for the scenario we wanted. We arrived 20 minutes prior to our start time for instructions. After paying the entrance fee, we were instructed to put all of our belongings into a locked storage bin, securely monitored by staff. We were handed paper blindfolds to put on, and when we were ready, we were escorted into the room. Before removing the blindfolds, we listened to a couple minutes of build up, which set the stage and task while still giving us a few chuckles. When it came time to remove our blindfolds, the 45-minute clock started and we were off. The room is fairly difficult given the time constraints. We are a smart bunch of folks, most of which had never participated in an escape room before. When our time was up, the staffer responsible for maintaining the room allowed us a few more minutes to keep up the struggle, but alas, we were outwitted by the puzzles. The staffer walked us through the solution and suddenly it all seems so obvious. Within 2 hours of leaving, I received several photos via email of our group. The staff offered to take our picture holding signs and emailed them along quickly. Overall, we all enjoyed the experience. It is clear that the primary business is the laser tag set-up, but the attention to detail and interesting props in the escape room was impressive.
