THIS PLACE WAS SO FUN! We came here as a group of four to enjoy "The Lakehouse: An '80s-inspired supernatural thriller". The Sanctuary Escape Games is located at the OKC outlet malls, which means plenty of parking, but it can be very busy depending on the time of day. We came at night, so we had no issue. Their waiting room is somewhat small with just two benches, but the game masters are incredibly informative. I felt like I was almost getting too many tips or advice and was ready to prove someone wrong, haha. What do you mean, I need patience to tackle an escape room? I've only ever done ones that were go-go-go! Jace (or Jason, maybe?) let us use their restroom and drop off belongings into a locker. Then he led us to a small room where we watched a video to set the vibe. Lastly, he led us to the first part of the escape room. I want to tell you everything about it, but I don't want to spoil anything! It's got the vibes of Stranger Things, if you're into that. And the GM was right, you have to take this room one puzzle at a time, which put me in my stretch zone in terms of testing my patience. I would suggest that you shouldn't do The Lakehouse with more than four people, simply because you cannot multitask, and the space is somewhat small. Arts department deserves a hall of honor, as the room was decked out to the nines, and I could tell they put soooo much work into it all. The escape room was so fun and honestly kinda wild and has the vibe of a jump scare at any time, but I don't think one actually happened. I love to debrief with my teammates on the escape room afterwards, and it was just so much fun to relive the hype. We escaped with 2 minutes left to spare. Phew. Yes, I'll come again!!! The incredible escape room experience was entirely ruined by the treatment we received from the staff. We walked in really excited and before even stepping foot into the escape room we were condescended to. The directions given to us included phrases such as "you're not special" and "this isn't about your ego." Don't get me wrong, I have worked in customer service and healthcare and other settings that require you to be stern and blunt with people at times. However, that should be reserved for situations where it is warranted. To treat every single person who walks through the door as if they have damaged property is unnecessary. I didn't come with a group of rowdy teenagers. It was two married couples and two young adults. A very gentle and respectful group. One person in our party was brought to tears by the way we were spoken to during the game. We were repeatedly yelled at, spoken down to, and treated as if we were a bother. We all felt like we were walking on egg shells. It's disappointing to have participated in a unique escape room, but have everyone leave feeling downcast and uncomfortable. I have left very few reviews in my life, but wanted to leave this feedback so that constructive changes could be made for the survival of the business, especially since the escape rooms themselves are a special thing. I recommend conversations with staff or even staff changes to create a more positive experience for your guests. read more

This is not a normal escape room! We did the lost duchmans mine and nearly made it to the end. These are not normal puzzles. Like a number code lock or a directional lock that you see in typical escape rooms. Additionally the rooms were beautiful. That being said it was so different that we were unsure if we were allowed to interact the game in unique ways. Such as digging thorugh the sandy floor for a hidden key. Or dripping water on some of the props to open a door. I didn't even know that was allowed as escape rooms have a long list of rules on how you may interact with the game. So I feel somewhat cheated as I thought those actions would of been prohibited but were actually the main game. I would challenge you guys to find a way to show this is a part of the game while not explicitly giving it away. Overall, this is an amazing escape room and even if I have some gripes this place definitely spoiled every escape room I'll ever play. read more

Beyond incredible experience! My group and I attempted the "Seeds of Hope" room, which blew my mind! As a theatre teacher and set designer, I could not believe the set dressings, complexity, and detail addressed in every nook and cranny of each space. Being in the multiple rooms was quite inspiring, from a scenic design perspective; honestly, it was the exact same quality of design as when my family visited the Star Wars park at Disney World!! As far as gameplay goes, it was unlike any escape rooms I've ever experienced. The puzzles were beautifully crafted and interwoven to enhance the story. Additionally, I appreciated how interconnected the rooms were, often requiring my team members to be in different spaces and communicate with each other to move to the next event. This is BEYOND next level: their rooms are not just a game but an experience! (I want to provide more detail but don't want to spoil anything for anyone.) Before we began the experience, our lovely guide gave us some tips, which were definitely true looking back. 1. Things are simpler than what they seem. 2. Communicate with each other, even if you think your idea is silly. 3. This will be unlike any other escape room you've done. All were % true! While our team didn't make it in time to escape (we really got caught up on one puzzle), a guide walked us through the remainder of the room and gave us feedback on what we did well and could improve on for next time. (Which I appreciated) I will happily return for more experiences! This is was the first escape room I ran out of time for, not because it was frustrating but because there were so much to do. We were in the 6th room we had figured out how to unlock when our time was up and we were told there were several more to go. Period piece immersion was excellent. Plan to go back! read more

We did the La Famiglia escape room. Overall the physical escape room and the attention to detail was very thought out. We didn't end up finishing the room on time, which was completely fine, until the game master spoke to us after. She explained, in a rude tone, that the only reason we didn't get out on time was because we "showed up late." She then called out our mother to say that she should've received emails saying that we needed to be there 20 minutes early, and since we showed up exactly at our time slot, it cut into our time in the room. There were also parts of the room that weren't accessibility friendly, whether physically or if you were hard of hearing. Overall the escape room was very long, but a well thought out room. I think the customer service could've been better, allow it to be more accessible, and they need to have their time slots allocating for the introduction, rules, waivers, etc. instead of relying on the customer to read multiple emails to get there early, especially when situations can come up causing the customers to run late. read more

What a fun escape room! We did la familia and the story line was great. You can choose solo mode where you activists a bell requesting hints or you can do advisory where they help You out as you go. There were about 7 rooms total and the attention to detail was amazing. We ALMOST made it out. There were lockers to store your personal items I wouldn't suggest taking anyone 12 or younger because they'll just get underfoot. Let me preface this by saying that we are not new to escape rooms and we did escape. The room itself was interesting, I'd give 3.5-4 stars. (However, there are skinned rabbits in the second that are just there for shock value, so if you are grossed out by animal cruelty be forewarned.) It was the employees, especially the GM that warrant the single star. By far the worst customer service experience we've had in a long time. We had a lot of trouble with the last combination lock, it genuinely felt like we tried the same combination over and over for twenty minutes. Finally they told us that the lever needs to be perpendicular to reset. We fixed that and boom we were out. We suggested that they may want to add a sign about the lever needing to be straight up and down to reset it. The employee completely blew our suggestion off in a way that felt very dismissive and argumentative. We calmly tried to explain that having the employee respond that way was upsetting and that on top of the lock frustration made us feel unhappy about the experience.The GM came up and said that none of her employees ever argue with customers, and then stonewalled and further communication. She did not attempt to get any details, or remedy the situation in any way. So we left and will not be going back all due to the lack of customer service. TL;DR: We went from having fun to not, and tried to give a small bit of feedback as to why. The employee and the GM could not have cared less. read more

Really well done rooms. They really embrace the story in each one, so it's part escape room, part solving the mystery and resolving the storyline. The guides are attentive and seem to enjoy what they do. Kids, teens, adults, and even retired people could enjoy this. I have done dozens of escape rooms around the country, and this is by far the best. If you've tried one before and found it not to be your jam, try this one. My group did the "The Lost Dutchmen" room and it was so much fun! They're moving from this address but they're opening at a new location that's bigger and has more escape rooms soon! We also got a chance to talk to one of the gamemasters at the end of our game and he spoke to us about his process and that made the experience great too! The room was themed well. Hint to future escapees. Control your own hints. Don't do the one where they choose when to help you they will screw your over and they will be happy about it. They don't want you to succeed. They told us we were on track but in the end we were only 55% done. There is no part of that that would tell us we were on track to finish. They kept distracting us from tasks and steering is wrong so I believe they do that on purpose so you don't get out. I may try the other room just to see if they are different if we control the hints but ultimately if they don't want you to succeed they will do everything they can to ensure you don't. read more

This place was simply amazing ! I only have experience with escape rooms in Okc area, and this one is head and shoulders above anything else. We always have fun at the escape rooms, but this one isn't loaded with lock and combos, so the strategy is different. We talked to the owners for at least 20 minutes after the game - great people and interesting backgrounds, and they mentioned some new games they're working on. The most immersive escape room I have ever been in. The puzzle are fun and challenging and the rooms are completely different! I did both rooms that they offer and they where both great. The only reason it's not a 5 out of 5 is because they put you with other people in the rooms if you do not book the whole room. Team work is key when you are solving many puzzles. You can get stuck with other people that make it more difficult from getting or have people that have done the room already and know how to solve the puzzle. Do make sure you show up 30 mins early to allow proper explication how the escape room works. They explain their rules very well. If you have a group of people that want to due an escape room, this is the place to go and they have a bar/ restaurant to get food afterward! read more
