2016: I've stayed at the Estrold Resort three times, and this wonderful place is now my home base for visiting St. Germain. It's so exciting arriving at the resort the first day of vacation!
After hearing about mine or my siblings' experiences at the resort, one of my cousins stayed at the resort in 2016 (and plans to again in 2017!), as well as one my my brother's workmates, who also had a great time.
This year I was lucky enough to be at the resort on a quiet day when most cabins were unoccupied before check in. John kindly allowed me to walk through almost every cabin, for planning future trips. They're all terrific cabins, but I was astonished at how different they are from each other! The Popple and Pioneer in particular, obviously older cabins, were made with whimsy and charm. One simply doesn't see buildings like them anymore. Wow. The Maple, while very new, was gorgeous. The Pine's rustic interior lends a logging camp feel to everything.
So far I've stayed in the Bayview and the Spruce, both terrific. The Bayview is handsome, and the living room with its two bay windows is beautiful. I love the large dining room table. The Spruce is a very comfy cabin, and the open living/kitchen area is surprisingly large. This is the cabin that so reminds me of the long-gone resort I stayed at when I was a kid, also on Little Saint.
Thanks for another fantastic stay, Burgers!
2014: I visited St. Germain, after a long absence, with my brother and sister in October. We couldn't have been more pleased with our cottage, the Bayview, nor with the resort at large. The grounds are beautiful, the cabins spacious and well appointed, and the Burgers made for wonderful hosts (warm and kind). Our cabin's size and appearance were total surprises; it was clean, beautiful, and perfectly ready for our visit.
The Estrold Resort is exactly what we hoped it would be: a resort experience from yesteryear without feeling rundown or sad. Far from it.
We visited not only for the fall colors, but because of my dad, who had died exactly 20 years ago to the day of our arrival at the resort. We visited hoping to make St. Germain into a happy place for us again, as it was when were kids during those magical summers. I was so hesitant to visit St. Germain that I stayed away for 24 years. That still astonishes me.
I can't express how important and wonderful this trip was for my sister, my brother, and for myself. Our time at the Estrold Resort was simply perfect. Thanks so much, Jami and John Burger! read more
