The market is 5-8 PM on Wednesdays through October 30, 2024 at Chapman Green downtown. It's still a project in progress and some weeks are better than others, but I always leave with a great find/purchase. They have a list of all the vendors and local businesses participating on their website and they do a good job of posting it on their Facebook's event page every week as well. You'll find anything from meat, produce, and dairy to handmade goods from artisans and makers. My favorites are Frios popsicles (especially in the summer, inheritance, okie red's bakery, onifade's cookies, spring fed family farms and sunshine haven harvest. Parking is always free for vendors and customers, check out the map. They also have a list of entertainers and the schedule along with some fun theme nights. They'll be hosting the 918 Day Festival on September 18, with a live DJ and other fun local art as well as a kids night on October 2 that includes free face painting, games, and a fun performance by Hot Toast Music Company.

We had been to a strawberry field the week before that took reservations only and had rows marked that had been picked, so we were expecting organization. This place was a free-for-all. The parking lot was full of cars, even though it had been raining, and the rows weren't marked that had been picked, people were all over the place, so we had to just wander around looking for a few stray berries. We ended up with a few pounds that weren't all the way ripe that will go into pies with a lot of sugar. I feel sorry for the people that showed up the next day. There wasn't much left but green berries. Next time we will go mid week and later in the season, I think going at the beginning was a big mistake. I also wish they were more organized like the other place was, but I guess it has been working for them, so I doubt they will change because of my review.
