First time in and we ended up not buying anything due to the prices of everything. Everything is prepackaged and she told us they were varying weights but they all looked to be about the same size. For cost comparison my daughter bought me double dipped chocolate peanuts from Nifty Nut House and they were 7.99 compared to here at 12.99/lb. The service seemed good and the place has a nice set up but not what we were expecting when we read somewhere it was in the top 10 candy stores in the country. read more

The Farris Wheel is a cathedral of candy...not so overwhelmingly huge so as to toss its purveyors into a Scrambler-ride of confusion, but not so small as to disappointingly limit options. The Farris Wheel offers chocolates, candies, and other sugary-sweet, or salty (think loads of different sample-able styles of energy nut-mixes) at reasonable prices given its cleanliness, friendliness and small-town Saturday night feel. The owners are painstakingly kind, offering samples without the garauntee of a pay-off. They'll suggest remedies for your heartbreak woes (mini cream cookies coated in chocolate? or allergy-inducing chocolate toffee caramel coated almonds?). Decent selection, though I've had a few times where my item (pre-bagged) wasn't fresh. Everyone is very nice, but I prefer a little less, um, "interaction" with the staff. They are DYING to help you. We get it, you give out samples. Also, extremely expensive. I found some salted caramels at (redacted, but it's within a few miles) of this store for 1/6th the price. Are they equal quality? Probably not, but not gonna pay $9 for 9 caramels. Nice to have something local, but I don't go very often due to price and staff. read more

Their offerings are much more specialized than your average candy store. The service was very friendly; they are generous with their samples and we enjoyed everything we sampled. The chocolate covered almonds are excellent and come in assortments of toasted coconut (nutty and crunchy) and mocha dusted (deep coffee cream flavor). The chocolate coating is creamier compared to other places in town including Nifty Nuthouse, which makes The Farris Wheel's offering more delicious. Their chocolate coated espresso beans are also excellent and come in a variety of chocolates. Lastly, their chocolate coated strawberries are a flavorful treat and quite unique. I'll definitely be back to restock on my almonds! read more

This is a fun place to go for unusual candy and nut selections. It's not as BIG as the "other" place, but they still have a great selection. My favorite is the pacifier sweet tarts. Just the right blend of sweet and sour. I also got a ginger and honey gel candy there that made my sore throat feel better. They also have a nice selection of old time candy, like, Good N Plenty, Beech Gum, etc. Their spicy nut combos are tasty too. Give it a try. Conveniently located on the East side of town. read more

I like the Farris Wheel... They have a great selection of sweets and the prices are reasonable for a locally owned business. The butterscotch candy is authentic and you can taste the difference between the funky grocery store candy and the real McCoy. They even have a sugar free variety of butterscotch that would confuse hardcore sugar addicts & diabetics. Customer service is top notch, and it is conveniently attached to a restaurant & deli with a grocery store... (The Piccadilly.) The Farris Wheel is my second choice for sweet tooth satisfaction... The first is the Nifty Nut House, but since I live closer to the Farris Wheel, I have adopted them as my one stop shop for most of my sweet tooth needs. I gave 4 stars because I don't give 5's. It does not mean that I have any complaints about the Farris Wheel. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Though it's fairly obvious as to the difference in focus between Nifty Nut House and The Farris Wheel , they both offer a lot of open stock candies that are apparently pretty easy to find in candy stores, supermarkets, and anywhere else where plastic bins and/or sneeze guard counters can be found. I don't consider a good portion of the stuff either of these two places to sell very good candy, and unless you have a need to purchase malted milk balls of questionable origin by the pound, I wouldn't recommend them. What sets Farris Wheel apart, however, is everything else. The old timey-feel of the candy "shoppe," and the appropriately old timey candies that the nostalgic may find within. More importantly, they hang their hat on a handful of specialty confectioners, namely Asher's Chocolate, a Pennsylvania-based candy maker; Marich Confectionery, a company known for its innovative use of real fruit in its sweets; and Abdallah Candies, a Minnesota-based company (also appropriately Lebanese). It's here that Farris Wheel stands apart, and though they come at a premium, the chocolate covered peanuts of Asher's, and the pastel chocolate-covered dried strawberries, blueberries, and cherries of Marich are well-worth the visit. It's not the sort of stuff I'd splurge on every day, but as a gift it's well-suited, and appropriate as the store seems to do quite a bit of business in that area of concern.
