For my first and now my second pregnancies I go to Jennie's prenatal yoga on Wednesday nights. When I went for the first time in 2022, I knew I would love it. I took her class every week for more than half of my pregnancy. And now I'm just a few weeks away from delivering my second and I am just so thankful for Jennie to be part of my journey. When I went to class with my second, I was met with a hug and the warmest welcome back! I just love her. And I LOVE this class. I live about 25 minute away and it's worth the drive. The energy, warmth, acceptance and solidarity is just to wonderful and I am grateful to have this though out pregnancy. Jennie make everyone feel so at home and comfortable. Her energy, caring, kindness and general vibe lets you know that you belong and you're not alone. I love that we go around the room when class starts to share and ask for advice and then we move our bodies in such a kind and gracious way; the room is truly full of acceptance- for each other and ourselves and that is all because of Jennie.

I highly recommend Baby Parent Steps with Laura Liebig in Tempe!…read more Shortly after my daughter was born, I started looking for "baby and me" activities that her and I could do together being a first time mama. I found this class after reading an article in a Parenting AZ magazine and contacted Laura by email. I came to find out that this program is well established in Germany and is called PEKiP. PEKiP stands for Prague-Parent-Child-Program. It's activities are considered "group-work" between baby and mama to encourage baby's independent development. It's main principle is that baby should not be pushed into reaching milestones, rather the infant reaches them at his/her own pace. Laura also showed us how to observe baby cues and what baby clues we should look out for as they learn to communicate in different ways. The classes are typically small in size and are taught right out of Laura's cozy living room. Our babies were also similar in age. We met each week for about 90 minutes. We started each class by singing an introductory song using each baby's name. I loved seeing my baby's reaction to the song when it came time to sing her name out loud! In addition, a new activity was introduced each week and we learned how to observe our babies to the activity. This was a no pressure environment; one week my baby showed no interest in the new activity but then showed a lot of interest or would master the activity the next time we met! This was mind blowing for me! Meeting in such a small, intimate environment also helped us not only form a strong bond with our babies but it also allowed us new mamas to forge new friendships which are invaluable as we navigate parenthood. Lastly, most of the toys we used in class were homemade by Laura, which meant we could go home and recreate those items without having to spend extra $$ on expensive toys. However, there were some items we used in class that could be purchased at IKEA or Amazon if needed. This class is a MUST for first time mamas! I highly recommend :)

The minute Kristen walked into our home we both felt a sense of calmness wash over us. Our baby loved her and felt so good, he never cried at night. Me and my husband on the other hand slept like babies! My maternal instinct told me Kristen is to be trusted fully and I was able to get such good rest when she was here (not the case with all other doulas I've had). She's also mega knowledgeable about everything baby and child related and cares genuinely about your family which is so important when you're at your most vulnerable. Finally she is extremely professional. Never once I felt like I had someone else at our home as her presence was both immensely supportive and ethereal at the same time- which takes serious skill. Hire her without hesitation.

The complex may be new and the maps have not changed. You may get proper directions when you. Just keep this in mind. Have a safe trip. The institute is a school, and you will be served food by students prepared by students. At the end of the meal you will get a short form asking your opinion of the meal and service. The school has its own way of doing things. Please be patient with them, they are students. For example they will not seat incomplete parties. You can be less patient with established restaurants that do the same things. The service is fine the students personable. Despite our group ordering almost one of everything, the execution was timely. No one complained that any of it was bad. We were served, without choice a seared Tuna appetizer. Some in our party did not care for anything close to raw, and were unhappy. Soup followed, of which the Gazpacho, (a cold soup) was excellent. They served a Pasta dish of bucatini: with heavy cream and panchetta. It was done to perfection, with the pasta being almost aldente and the pancetta lightly browned on one side. Other selections were chicken, short ribs and salmon. Prices varied but not very much. Expect to pay $30 plus tip and drink. Some items were a little less. The meal included a dessert of German Chocolate cake, which was thick and dark, permeated by coconut and abounded with a thick frosting. Coffee is served on request. What's served is what I call "ingredients food": it's flavor come from the ingredients themselves. Little technique is required. although technique was required for the Gazpacho. Salmon or Short ribs need steady cooking, and they had no adornments. You must know how to cook them. The how is simple, because baking is the one method. This is a really good place to go. Aside from having a very good meal you help others. Life as a Guinie Pig is not so bad at the Arizona Culinary Institute. Lunch anyone?
