How do you field about this place? I'll tell you how I feeled. We had a lot of fun at the Fieldhouse. But who wouldn't? Definitely one of the coolest places in Iowa City to hang out with all the college kids and wild partying folks. The one problem that we had with the Fieldhouse was violence! There were some absolute punks trying to make trouble because there was the beauty queen of the century dressed like a glamour model (swoon swoon swoon), and she was with a guy that looked like a short Latin Prizefighter (as in, a mismatch to superficial types, she was a foot taller than him) and these very aggressive tall punks apparently thought she was too good for him so they tried to start a fight by touching her and making inappropriate comments and insulting her boyfriend. So I had to come in between them and I got smacked for my trouble. I helped to prevent a really bad fight and then the police showed up and they tried to arrest both the punks and the boyfriend and the hot girlfriend. So I had to explain to the police that I had no relation to any of the people in the fight and that there were really only one set of instigators and the other ones were just trying to defend themselves. And that she was molested. In the end I managed to talk everyone down with the help of my good friend the police officer and nobody got arrested but it was some really messed up stuff. The cop was either going to arrest everyone, or nobody. So it was better for everybody that nobody get arrested. You're welcome, cutie and cutie's bf. Call me. But yeah, the crowd in here - insane. On holiday from the UK but got good old American racism. Female security guard on Thursday accused my friend of harassing her and threatened to call the police because he to get in the club. He left his ID at home but had proof on his phone (several clubs let him with his ID on his phone on the same night) but not physically, he asked to teoce get in a polite and calm manner but yet she somehow, she was accusing of him of "harassing" her and threatened and to call the police for absolutely no reason. He then went home to get his ID to returned to the club, I came out to speak to him and I got kicked out for no clear reason aside from speaking to him. I had my ID, I was sober and did absolutely nothing wrong, they couldn't even justify or explain why they kicked me out. And to Make matters worse, there was this racist message In The bathroom. Living in the UK, you hear a lot about racism in the US but it's sad see it's really as racist as they say. read more

Complete garbage. We usually enjoy going here, but the second time I tried to re-enter with a wristband, the doorman denied me entry saying the wristband was "on the wrong wrist". It was my 29th birthday and they didn't let me into the bar, presumably because I didn't look old enough, not sure, but I suggest avoiding this place altogether. Came here during homecoming because my best friend was meeting up with his girlfriend. The place was just awful. The music was too loud that I gave up trying to get a beer, the floor was sticky, and the smell I will never forget the smell let me put it to you like this, an Iowa pig farm would have been a more suitable place to drink because that smell would have been more tolerable than what stench was cooking at the fieldhouse. Honestly I just don't see the appeal of the place. It's small, it's loud, it smells, and it's unclean. Maybe I'm being too hard because it was homecoming, but I went to three other bars that night and they had higher standards when it came to upkeep and maintaining a fun environment. *updated came here again place is still disgusting* read more

I had never been out to Iowa city before, but I was visting friends in Cedar Rapids Iowa and they took me to The Fieldhouse. The cover charge was only $10. I had fun there even though I had a cold and was sober. lol The music was great they played everything from old school house, to Pop and Reggaeton, something for everyone to dance to. It was 19+ to get in which was werid to me since in Chicago you need to be 21 to get in anywhere. I thought it would be full of a bunch or youngins but it wasn't. It was full of Unveristy of Iowa students cause there campus is right down the street. This place was huge but the dance floor was tiny. Everyone wanted to be on the dance floor so it was packed to the max. But I think their was probably more gallons of beer on the floor then there were people on it, which was gross. But the drunk people didn't seem to mind. I would suggest they get a clean up crew to get those spills faster but I know that would be a problem. Positives: Great atmosphere, Great Music, Cheap Drinks Specials, and lots of Security posted everywhere. Negatives: Needs to have a bigger and drier dance floor, cleaner bathrooms, and less smoking. Selective bar. I was chilling with a couple of friends when out of nowhere some guy clinch me to start some trouble and dragged me all the way to the front of the bar. The bouncers proceeded to kick me out of the bar and called about 3 others cops on me then ripped off my wristband and let that other kid right back in. I was literally just standing in the bar chilling with my friends and got cornered by this kid and kicked out then just patrolled by the cops telling me to keep my distance from the entrance. Without hesitating the bouncers kicked me out for a problem I didn't even start. read more

DONT COME HERE. I went to an area of the bar I was not supposed to on accident and a worker tried DRAGGING me out of the bar for no reason. I was scared for my life and when we tried talking to the manager he said to cal the cops if we were that upset. THE WORST ESTABLISHMENT. read more

Fieldhouse is definitely one of those bars you go to if you want to dance. The dance floor is always full on Friday & Saturday nights despite the scum ring around the floor. They do a 21 pitchers for $25 during the week of your birthday and have $3 mini pitchers during FAC (Friday After Class). Since the entry age changed to 21 in Iowa City I haven't had to pay cover at Fieldhouse but there have been rumors floating around that the change may also cause FH to close. Always have a good time at Fieldhouse but last night proved what type of bar it really was. A bouncer/bartender called me a hoe for asking for my card as I was about to leave. I was not dressed in any way a "hoe" and regardless he should not call women that. I asked nicely and was not a "messy drunk" you normally see in Fieldhouse. I did not appreciate this type of response but I will not be going here any more. read more

If you want to get your grind on, this is the place to go. The music is good and the people are ready to party. The dance floor was pretty nasty with spilled drinks, but that shouldn't stop you from the happy crowd. The cover was $5 for no reason, but whatever. read more

Only reason this isn't 5 star, is because the bathrooms suck. Other than that, this is one of my favorite bars in Iowa City. Definitely has the best music and even though the dance floor is small, the whole bar turns into a dance floor when an awesome song comes on. Good bar for Iowa City. The bartenders are great and the birthday deal is spectacular. The music could be a touch better at times and recently they took the dart board away, which is very disappointing. Other than that, fieldhouse is a great time. read more

I would give this review no stars if I could. I've been into fieldhouse multiple times and have had a good experience everytime I've been there except tonight. It was the block party in Iowa City, I was in line with my friends waiting to get in with our wrist bands and open container cups. Us and many people in front of us in line all had those cups filled with a drink. The two bouncers working let everyone in with a drink in their cup except me. I was told it had to be drinken before stepping into the bar, I replied with saying you let everyone in front of me in with a drink already in their cup. I then try to walk into the bar and one of the bouncers touches my chest area and proceeds to push me back. By this point I am angry, so i throw my drink out right next to the bouncers. Before i could get in I was forced to open up my purse and he told me he had to search it before going inside. (He searched no one else in front of me). When I was leaving the bar I told him off because his behavior was beyond unacceptable and by that point my emotions had gotten the better of me. The bouncers at this bar are nothing but disgusting, sexist creeps who get off by abusing their power and humiliating women. I have never been so angry for how I was treated and touched inappropriately without my consent. Disgusting excuse for bouncers. read more
