I have been there twice to eat. Oh my goodness, I will start with the wait staff. Each lady was incredibly attentive and very complementary of the food. The first time I had the Italian Beef and it was amazing! Steaming hot and juicy, the flavor was superb. I had crispy fries with it and they were perfect (at least the way I like them)! I brought half home and when I warmed it up in the oven it was as good as the original in the restaurant. Today I asked about the tenderloin! It's hand made, and so huge it does not fit in the bun. The toppings I ordered were raw onions, pickle relish and mustard. I could only eat about half or less than half. The crispy fries were again outstanding, and brought half of them home. I cannot say enough about the wait staff and the food! I usually go around 1 p.m. and there are plenty of tables available. They also serve homemade pizza which I haven't tried yet. Whoever is leading the food and cooking should get a gold star. There are not too many bar/restaurants that serve quality food at this level. Kudos to all the staff!!!!!!!! read more

Happy hour disappointment. Went for happy hour planning to return for dinner with friends. Ordered two 250 beers one bud one ultra. In town for a conference and a group of us decided to give this place a try. I was one of the ones through the door. I hear a man yelling "how many?" Server tells him like 12-15. He then shouts something about no call ahead and how "super disrespectful" that is. 3 of us heard this loud and clear. When I questioned the server about who said it she acted like it hadn't been said. I asked to speak to the man that said it and she again denied anything was said. A business colleague and I were recommended to try this place while in town working. First thing the waitress told us was that they only had pizza and calzones available. So we ordered calzone. Afterwords I asked if they had any appetizers available? She responded "yes", handed us a menus and walked away without waiting for us to place an order. Approximately 10 minutes later she asked if we needed anything as she continued walking past us and not even stopping to wait for an answer. I asked for an order of mozzarella cheese sticks. Went for lunch with a girlfriend on a Wednesday. Laura B was a fantastic waitress, very pleasant, smiling took our orders very well, food came out on time (of which I was not in any hurry). This place is god awful. Came in for lunch. Ordered a Pepsi and it was flat. Ordered the chicken strip lunch "special" for $7.99. The chicken strips tasted like they were fried in old grease and were rubbery. The fries had the same terrible taste as the chicken strips, so I assume they were fried in the same old grease. The Fifth Quarter has good, homemade Chicago style food. We are especially fond of the tenderloin and fries. The atmosphere is cool, lots of tvs with sports. The prices are decent, but if you are looking for genuinely friendly staff.......not so much. We dont sit in the bar and we never order alcoholic drinks, so it seems like we get less attention aside from a rehearsed "Hi how are you". We go back time and time again regardless! When we arrived there to get our takeout, it was obvious we were the only ones wearing masks, not even the workers were. On top of that, no one was social distancing and it was packed. We picked up the order, they didn't give us a receipt, which was shady, but at the time, we thought it was fine. And it did seem that way, until we realized that they forgot a part of our order, the ravioli, and had to call them to get it. They originally wanted us to get it a different day, but they didn't even have our information because we paid in cash. Speaking of prices, the prices online were different then what we paid. When we came back, it was the same lady we'd serve us before. She pretended not to recognize us. We didn't get a discount for the missing ravioli. The foods feature some classic Chicago style sandwiches - Italian beef, Italian sausage, meatball, burgers, wraps, etc...They also offer "100% made from scratch" pizzas. I selected the Italian beef, dipped in aus jus. The beef was piled high and was very tasty. The wife had the Italian sausage, maxwell street style, which featured mustard grilled onion and a pickle spear. The pickle spear on the sandwich was a first for her but surprizingly she enjoyed it. Fries also came with the sandwiches. Food and bottled beer was reasonalbly priced. Five dollar pitchers - a special while we were there. "A lunch to die for??" Every Friday a group of us coworkers go out to lunch. Today we made the mistake and chose the 5th Quarter. I had the Combo - sausage covered with Italian beef, grilled peppers and onions, nestled in a hogie bun. The sausage was quite tasty but the Italian beef was refrigerator chilled and was a bad contrast to the warm sandwich. Very disappointing but not as unlucky as my coworker Jonathan was. He ordered the 10oz burger, plain with NO cheese. When it came he immediately noticed that it had cheese. He mentioned this to the waitress and we explained that he is allergic to cheese. Eating cheese can cause Jonathan to go into anaphylactic shock. This is an allergy that needs to be taken seriously. She nonchalantly took it away and returned a short time later with his order. She stated that she had originally picked up the wrong order. He opened the bun and noticed cheese bits on the bun cap. Again he pointed this out to the waitress. She coolly said she would get him a new bun. While she was gone, he turned the beef over only to find more cheese left from where they had scrapped the original burger and then tried to serve it again. He showed this to her and she casually said they would make him a new burger; absolutely no shock on her face or apologies offered. Finally he was brought a burger without cheese. Instead of the 10oz. burger he ordered it was the small 5oz. burger. He took a few bites and then realized that they had rushed the cooking and the center was raw. He was then given a bill for $10.05. After some coaxing, Jonathan went to the register to talk to the manager. Instead, the cook came out to talk with him. The cook lightly referred to Jonathan as the "cheeseburger guy". They did finally wave the burger bill but still charged him for the $1.99 Pepsi. This wasn't our first time to eat there but it will be my last. Unfortunately Jonathan left hungry and we were all late getting back to the office. It is a bad enough to serve poor tasting food, but to disregard the health of customers is disgraceful. read more

Came in for lunch, it was my first time ever being here. They seem to have a decent beer selection but we just had water since we were here for lunch haha. We both got the chicken salad one grilled one fried. It was AMAZING!!! Def the best bar salad I've had! They have great ranch!! Overall not impressed despite my repeated visits, I keep coming back hoping for more! Food is lackluster. The polish sausage isn't a fresh raw sausage cooked to order, it's one of those pre-cooked Oscar Meyer kielbasa versions that is pretty much a big hot dog. Pizza is decent although they have a hard time getting the orders correct if you change anything from their menu options. Wings were forgettable. We have experienced some long waits inside when it's not busy, the bartender seems to go MIA completely if it's dead. Their tap and bottle selection seems randomly selected which makes it difficult at times to find good options. Definitely more of a family type place so expect messes caused by children and/or actual children running around. read more

I and a group of 30 (or so)retired military members decided to have a lunch at the Fifth Quarter (East Peoria IL) one Saturday afternoon this week. The staff there ensured that a good time was had by all and I would highly recommend them for any size of gathering. The Fifth Quarter has an outside patio that is covered and surrounded by a low wall and fencing. Inside is a typical sports bar. Both areas are inviting and spacious. Our group stayed mostly on the patio area but since it is a rather large area there was enough room that we did not crowd the other patrons that were out there. We had scheduled the meeting and management had enough waitstaff on hand to tend to the additional influx of people. Our main server was hugely pleasant and efficient. Orders were taken, drinks refilled, and moneys were exchanged promptly. I never saw her make any errors and was impressed because tending to us had to be similar to herding cats. She was GOOD! The Fifth Quarter has a pretty extensive menu and most meals that day ran to about $15 or less (tip included). I never heard anyone complain about portion size or quality and all I can say is that my mushroom and swiss burger (with hand cut fries) was excellent. With fountain cola and tip my bill totaled $13 and change. After dining we lingered and chatted for about 45 minutes to an hour and never felt pressured to move on. As far as the place in a whole 1 star is not fair, but if I could give the bar tender in this place Leslie less than a star I would. We came in to enjoy some dinner and drinks as a party of 3, and as usual we always attract a crowd that ends up meeting us. I consider myself a person that can get along with anyone and am always courtesy to the wait staff and bartenders, but this particular bar tender was NOT A NICE person from get go, she is rude and hateful to customers and proceeded to tell our table she was not speaking to anyone at our table and that she had personal issues, WOW! Granted we had 1 person that needed to leave and seen to it he did, but even after she continued to be RUDE. Needless to say we wont be back and its a shame especially the people that we like to bring into businesses and the money we spend. Waitress was doing 3 things at once and was still courtesy and prompt as much as possible. Good thing she was our server and not the bar tender or there would of been NO TIP. I spoke with several people that go there on a regular basis and they were QUICK to say that Leslie is an unfriendly B#$@# and that a couple of the guys boycotted the place because of her for over a month in hopes she would get fired. Small business owners need to know when 1 of their employees is making an impact good or bad and that is why I am writing this review. The food is just ok. The atmosphere is great for watching sports or hosting a happy hour. They have a lot of televisions and an decent selection of beer. The pizza wasn't great (it was much better at Vertucci's -- which inhabited the building prior to this restaurant). The salad was really not worth it. The chicken wings are not bad. I'd go back to watch a game, but not if I'm hungry. I'm hoping the food will improve as the place matures. read more

If you like dining in a filthy place that smells like a freshly cleaned crime scene, you've found the place. Bathrooms are filthy, they use styrofoam cups which I think is ridiculous. Food is mediocre so is service. Used to like it a lot more when it was Vertucci's, seemed that the staff was much better back then, there seems to only be maybe 1 or 2 of the servers that used to be there when it was called Vertucci's. read more
