This is a good place to shoot. I didn't know what to expect but I was pleased by service. I went to sight a Red Dot on my Sig P320-M18 and shoot my Glock 22 for the first time. Spent $10 for 30 minutes and 2 targets. Seems pretty good for me. The people are friendly. The safety person was nice and helped me sight my Red Dot. Gave tips for gripping the pistol. I'd recommend coming here if you want to quickly test a pistol. I hear they are building an indoor range rated for rifles and such. Excited to see where that goes. 9.7/10 read more

I just got my pistol permit so off we went to the firing pin! I've been here with my rifle, but this was my first time with a pistol. The entire staff there is friendly and helpful. Pat took the time with me to go over the basics, be sure I had a good grip, and gave me safety tips. Truly appreciated. They also watch on camera and if they see you're struggling or having issues, they come in and assist! This facility has 7-8(?) lanes and can get busy. But we're usually there at a good time. My brother and I just got an annual membership - and it's affordable! They also offer private lessons which is awesome! May take advantage of that! read more

Wow, I can't say enough about this place. It is right off of the Bergen exit on 490 West. An employee there named James, is a delight. He is very knowledgeable, personable and professional. He helped us through the process of purchasing a new gun, and it's not short process! I am a rookie and they have done a great job of making me feel welcomed and giving me a sense of belonging. They have targets available for purchase along with ear protection and eye protection. Their ammo is decently priced and so is renting range time. I haven't been to any other shooting ranges, but I don't feel like I want to either. They seem to have everything here and there's never a time that I've gone where it's been too busy that I couldn't get range time. I love these guys and will continue to come here! read more

TFP has become my favorite place in Rochester to practice with firearms. It's conveniently near the 490 (west) and serves as an affordable range that doesn't require you to be a member to use the facility. While owning a firearm may not be for everyone, TFP is a good place to get some exposure to the wide world of different firearms. You can rent different guns (even some non-SAFE ACT guns!) to shoot in the range and purchase ammo or targets as needed. To shoot a pistol here, whether you own it or are shooting with a group (you can split the cost of lane time by pairing up with a friend!), you will need to bring your valid pistol permit. Long guns do not require a permit to shoot here. The range is well ventilated, but can get a little chilly in the colder months! They do have overhead heaters for each shooting lane that can be individually adjusted and helps take some of the edge off. Bring a sweater or light jacket just in case! Finally, you'll want to keep your eye and ear protection on at all times inside the range. Forgot something? They have "eyes and ears" available at the front counter. I come here over and over again. At least twice a week. The staff is always friendly and eager to you get you shooting comfortably. There's about 8 (I'm guessing) lanes. The prices are definitely affordable. I go shoot with friends and family and we have an great experience every time. Some people might find the range small. But I feel that the smaller environment eases some people's intimidation. Staff had no problem assisting us when we had a minor malfunction. They have a wide variety of targets to shoot. The owner is constantly working at pushing his business further. He's consistently asking his already very large customer base for feedback and suggestions. Stay far far away from this place. We paid for a gun at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday night then over the weekend, hubby changed his mind. Called Monday at 10:00 a.m. to say he was cancelling the deal and they wanted to charge a 20% restocking fee!! Ya think anybody wanted that gun between closing and opening?? They even completed the paperwork incorrectly. What a joke. Two of the workers put on a wrestling match behind the counter complete with fake stabbing. I thought I was back in high school. If you are a newbie to guns, steer clear of this place. My husband called to set up an introductory session and spoke directly to the owner. He was not helpful, condescending, and told us that his instructor would have to "take time" because they were "so busy". Too bad, because they ended up missing out on a $600 sale. We went right over to On Target in Webster same day and were treated with respect and courtesy. Don't waste your time at the Firing Pin because they obviously don't want the business!! read more

I can't say enough about this place!! First off, to even have an indoor shooting range is an amazing opportunity, but to have such a quality range is phenomenal!!! The range and staff are so awesome I drive about an hour just to enjoy the range. I was first introduced to The Firing Pin last month thanks to a couple of friends and have been back multiple times to try different guns and practice my own. Darnell at the counter is an asset to the range. He's extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and most importantly so patient with a newbie. He takes the time to educate you about the rentals you are using, options for your guns, and even gives you an education on the other guns and options available. I can't say enough about the positive experiences with Darnell during my visits. Another employee to call out is Gary in the range. Didn't even know he was an employee at first but he's another asset to The Firing Pin. He sits back, observes and then comes up to give you some great advice on approving your accuracy. He takes the time to talk with you, analyze your targets / groupings, and gives great advice. His tips took my regular worst shooting pistol to the best shooting pistol of the day. I'd also like to give a shout out to the instructor John. I went back and took his pre-pistol permit course. His knowledge and enthusiasm kept you engaged throughout the entire course. I recommend this course for everyone, even if you already have your permit. I really can't say enough great things about The Firing Pin. It's a great place to go with great staff!!! read more

Great experience! From my opening email of inquiry a month or so ago, to subsequent phone calls, to the actual day of shooting with Tyler as our instructor, I felt supported and appreciated. I took my dad as a 75th birthday gift. He has military and hunting experience, but hasn't fired a gun in 15 years or so. I have next to zero experience. Therefore, I paid for an instructor to be with us for the entire hour as we fired away. Tyler was excellent. Knowledgeable, patient, supportive and humorous.
