The gym space is great from the grass turf on the floor to the wooden stall bars at each workout station to the water bottle and towel that's set aside waiting for you when you arrive. Postpartum I felt like my body had been hit by a series of trucks. This review is long overdue as I started working with Tiger more than a year ago. I've been fortunate most of my life in not having much of a weight issue, but after age 40 everything gets a little harder. I was slowly gaining weight each year until I couldn't fit into most of my clothes anymore and I just felt really out of shape. I was struggling with my eating too and just didn't know where to start. I'm not a naturally athletic type or big fan of large impersonal gyms even though I'd tried them before, it took a lot of my time to get any results. I wanted to work out smarter and learn more about nutrition. And I REALLY needed some motivation. Tiger helped me with all of that and more. He started me on an easy-to-follow nutrition plan that I could stick with. He was aware of old injuries I had and we also worked at strengthening for that. Before I knew it, I started doing things I never thought my body was capable of. And it felt great! I was fitting back into my old clothes, had more energy, slept better, and had more confidence. Add in Tiger's super encouraging coaching and getting steady results, and I was actually looking forward to waking up extra early to fit in my workouts with him. And I'm not even a morning person! I'll admit it; even though I've claimed otherwise, my goal has always been to look better. I had toyed ineffectually with other goals, like losing weight or getting stronger, and while I stuck with getting stronger for a while, once I fell off of a program it was tough to get back on. I found traditional trainers in big-box gyms to be ignorant of me and my needs, and unlikely to adjust to what was and wasn't working for me. Neither did they have the time or attention to be comprehensive in their approach. Their diet advice was mostly useless and came without coaching or analysis. I was also promoted a few times in the past several years, and each promotion disrupted training as I adapted to new responsibilities and schedules. I also tried Cross Fit, which was for me a big mistake. The workouts were so emotionally draining that I started to look for excuses not to do them. In contrast, Tiger at The Fix Gym started with tough but not impossible workouts full of "how are you doing" "how was that" how are you feeling" check-ins that made it clear he was paying close attention, AND a no-judgement period of simple dietary measurement to understand where I was starting. And over our year and a third together so far he's walked me gently up a ladder of tougher work, more attention to diet, more measurement, and steady success. The workouts are tough but Tiger is ready, almost eager, to adapt to make sure that you can complete them safely; at the end of a session I feel like I've worked hard and am done, but not worn down to a nub. And each workout is different from the last so there's little chance to be bored. When I started I was in the neighborhood of 230lbs and 30% body fat. I didn't look super tubby, but as a 5'11" 45-year-old it was not a good situation. My most recent weigh-in has me at 204lbs and 14.6% body fat, which means over this period I've left behind 39lbs of flab and put on 13lbs of muscle. I haven't seen this level of fitness since college, or maybe ever. And my wife has noticed, to our mutual delight. If you've resolved and given up repeatedly; if you've wrestled with diets and hunger; if you've been disappointed with the lack of competent help out there, then you're READY for The Fix Gym. read more

My goal when I started going to The Fix Gym was to get back into shape after having a baby 3 years ago. I also wanted to ghet the strength back that I had before having my daughter and work on my inner core. The biggest challenge I faced was making time between working full time and taking care of my 3 year old. I didn't have time to take classes or train except very early morning. Brian provided a very early morning work-out at 5:45 AM! He also was very flexible with changing times to accommodate me. This allowed me to get the work out in before my daughter woke up. When I first started at The Fix Gym I was a little jiggly and my body needed some attention and lovin. My goal was to firm up and fit into my skinny jeans. I was having a hard time achieving that on my own because I was only doing cardio and no strength training, along with doing all of my eating at night. I put on about 15 lbs through the years that I could not get off no matter what I tried to do.
