I came in today for a 1 hr float spa experience. The staff are so nice and helpful. She took me back to my pod and explained process and had everything from towels to shampoo and conditioner and body wash for when you get out of spa. They had a floaty ring for your head and ear plugs if you didn't wanna get water in ears.. the water was right at about 93 so very cozy.. the spa is salty so you float and it feels very strange.. at least to me. I couldn't relax but I stayed in for 20-30 min before I quit and showered.. lol it just wasn't for me but I will say a few hrs later I noticed I didn't have as much joint pain as I did when I got there. It has a lot of good things going for it the problem was totally me not the pod.. I may try it again in future but for now I'm good lol.. thank you to staff for understanding and being so kind. read more

Update: Sadly, time has not been kind to this facility. All the pods have mold in the hinges, the flooring in the shower stalls is ripped and warped, and probably hiding mold under it. The first room on the right has a broken doorknob that allows it to fall open if bumped and has not been fixed (as of September 2020) despite demonstrating the failure to multiple staff members and calling the owner. The "unbuntu membership" promised classes, newsletters, workshops, gatherings, and more. The only thing it had was one float per month at a $20 discount. I loved the experience of floating, but after almost a year as a member, I had to cancel. Previous: The staff is friendly and welcoming; they have a passion about floating and your relaxing experience that is palpable. The rooms have great energy and feel inviting. When you're in the rooms, the doors lock so you feel secure while showering and floating. The shampoo, conditioner, and body wash they supply smell fantastic. The lounge is inviting. I cannot recommend trying this enough. I like to start out with the lights in the pod on (you can choose red, white, blue/cyan, or purple lights) and the music. I turn the lights off after I feel "settled in" and then the music a few minutes after that once my mind feels settled in as well. read more

Friendly staff, clean. I did a 60 min float booked a 90. I would not recommend 90 min to hard on skin and hair. Still was charged for 90 minutes. Very relaxing relieved aches and pains. None of the staff wore masks which is concerning ( I did) The concentration of Bromide in the water spa makes it hard to breath will the spa shut. I would recommend this business if they got onboard with COVID precautions. It appears they satanize with bromine instead of changing the water between customers the staff was unable to tell me how often the water was changed. I probably will not go back. read more

The float spa in Sneads Ferry is a must try sensory deprivation chamber for East Carolinians. For those who do not know what a SDC is, look it up. If you come in with an open mind, you can really experience something unlikely anything else (besides from illicit drugs). I've floated many a times, so here is why I give 3 stars: 1. the tank itself is a shape different from what I am used to. There is a shelf of sorts within the tank on which a bottle of fresh water and a small towel rests in case you need to wipe your face. Convenient, yes, but the asymmetrical tank shape meant I was bumping into a bit. 2. The tank is not ENTIRELY light proof. Where the tank closes, there is a bit of outside light that enters the tank along the whole seam. 3. This is just being a victim of circumstance, but given the location is so close to two main roads, occasionally I could hear a motorcycle/18 wheeler pass by. Now, all that being said, it is still an awesome place, and one which I think I would use again. I think with some minor design modifications, it would be even better. read more

I have been floating weekly here for the last four weeks. I cannot float in a regular pool but because of the concentration of salt, I float with ease and can feel my back and shoulders relax completely after about 20 minutes. After a float session I have less pain from the arthritis. Each room is private with a shower. The facility is very clean and the staff has been friendly. read more

I have waited two years to leave this review. The reason why is because I was so humiliated beyond belief. Two years ago this month I had a session at this facility. My session was to be 60 minutes long and unfortunately the timer wasn't working correctly on the pod and my session ended up being longer than it was supposed to be. The lights did not come back on nor did the current that normally happens at the end of the session. I am not a novice to using float tanks as I have done this many times at other facilities. Since you lose all sense of time while you are in the float tank I had no idea how much time had passed. I was wide awake and honestly just waiting for the end of the session. The ending of my session was anything but relaxing and was extraordinarily humiliating. I heard a loud banging on the door so I cracked open the tank a bit and peeped out and asked if the session was over. The girl that was working came running across the room and threw the tank lid wide open while I was completely naked in the tank. Shockingly I drew myself up into a ball while she stood over me telling me that the timer was broken and it didn't come on and I had stayed in for over the amount of time. How was I supposed to know this? She just stood over me for a while and I did not want to get out of the tank completely naked in front of a stranger so I sat there until she finally left. Once she left, I rapidly took a shower and threw on my clothes while I was still wet and tried to leave the premises as quickly as possible. As I was passing the front desk with soaking wet hair and clothes sticking to my wet body the employee decided to let me know that I had been in 90 minutes whenever I had only paid for 60. Again, I had no control over this because how was I supposed to know that the timer wasn't working correctly for me to know when the time was up. I've never ever had this issue with any other float tank or pod that I have been in ever. I reached out and tried to contact the owner on her social media as well as through email and never got a response so I sat on it for many months last year. Finally whenever she started sending out emails again from the business I was able to connect with her and share with her what had happened. I had even describe the employee that was working at the time. The owner said she would be back in touch with me after she investigated the incident and she never contacted me ever again. So now here I am two years after my enormous humiliation finally leaving this review. I regret that I did not leave it sooner but I was so greatly embarrassed over the way that I was treated that I just couldn't. I decided today since it has been right at the two-year mark that I really should leave a review to warn other people of how things are handled in this business. I had actually used this business a few other times previous to my nightmarish experience but I promise I will never ever go here ever again nor would I recommend it. read more

Amazing experience. My first time floating & I will definitely become a regular. If you have doubts or fears about floating, just try it once, it may change your opinion! I gave 4 stars because I wish the lighting was a little more dim and the atmosphere a little more calm/cozy when you come out. The extremely bright lights in the hallway were a little harsh coming out of such a relaxing, dark experience. The staff was nice but I wish it were explained to us what the benefits were and tips on how to relax and get the full experience. read more

The Float Spa in Sneads Ferry is an incredible experience. After my first float I observed less tension, stress and better sleep than I had in months. I carry tension in my neck and occasionally grind my teeth at night, but after I've begun a regular routine of floating the tension is non-existent. I leave feeling relaxed and calm every time. I've introduced my son, husband, sister, neighbors and friends to floating at The Float Spa SF and I'm always pleased with their opinions. We are incredibly lucky to have this service so close by. Excellent Staff, Clean facilities. Decided to try different treatments for my sciatica pain. Was extremely nervous about the cryotherapy because I don't like the cold, but the staff put me at ease and before I knew it my 3 minutes was over, I enjoyed it so much I immediately scheduled another visit. I felt almost immediate relief from my sciatica pain. I throughly enjoyed the float as well just to decompress from life and work. read more

I have lots of muscle/skeletal issues, as well as a fair amount of arthritis and this is the best way I've found (and I've tried them all - chiro, massage, accupuncture) to relax, de-stress and feel better. Gravity is really NOT my friend, and this is the only way to negate the effects of gravity - full-out flat with neck and knees relaxed in a warm tub of healing epsom salts. I've only ever used the clam-shell pods and like them a lot. And since the pod (and you) are in a completely private room, turning off the room lights (a switch on the wall) as well as the pod lights makes for a calm, completely dark experience. For me, it's a life-saver. read more
