Signed a $12K contract in April, two days before install in August, received a call that no one ordered the product and it was on backorder anyway. But no worries... They had a new rep and chose some options that had similar tones that were in stock (None of which had any resemblance to the original on any level). But I digress... Instead of waiting another three+ months for install, chose one of the alternate options even though it looked nothing like what we wanted. Cut to 6 weeks later, install finally happens and there are issues. The end pieces were ordered for the original color we wanted so it was another month before install was completed. Offered an area rug as a sorry. Unfortunately, so much time had elapsed that I didn't even realize what was actually installed was NOT even the alternate option I chose until I went online to see how much the advertised price was for that flooring. Interestingly, that option does not appear to be on their website. So now I'm stuck with floors I can't stand. Asked if there was a price difference between what we paid for and what we got and was told they'd get back to me and let me know. Never received an answer. We had done a bit of business with them in the past and hadn't been unhappy, but we won't be doing it again. read more

TERRIBLE! The people they hired to install blew me off 3 times before installing my flooring. I had to threaten to call the Better Business Bureau. They were supposed to come out Friday morning to install tile in two bathrooms. They didn't show up till 2! I took the whole day off work for nothing. They said they were finished at 4 and that they would come back on Monday morning (7:30 am) to put in the baseboard, which should have been done at the same time. BUT, they said they had a wedding rehearsal to go too. Now I had to take ANOTHER day of work off. Well 7:30 came and went, I called and called. Then 8:00 came and went. So I called the store and told the lady that if he didn't complete it this morning, I was calling the BBB. Well, what do you know 10 minutes later the guy and his brother showed up saying that he dropped his phone in the toilet and there was NO need for me file a complaint. NO apology. On top of that, the tile is now discolored. The way this store operates is awful. They never told you they warranty, even after asking several times. So who knows? We thought after having SUCH a terrible time with Home Depot for carpet, this would be better. NOPE. I guess most contractors are just terrible. Ugh. Or I'm just unlucky? read more

Purchased $5000 worth of carpet from this company a few years ago. After 9 mo looked worn. At the store managers suggestion they replaced it with a nylon carpet that was suppose to be better. Plus another $600. Have had 2 inspections and both said the carpets not defective. This carpet is worse than the 1st and they will do nothing but give me a discount on more. Managers last response was "they dont make carpet like they use to". They should of told me that the 1st time I walked in the door, not $5600 worth of crap later. I have purchased both carpet and vinyl from floor trader and was pleased with the quality and price each time. The vinyl I installed myself. The carpet I had FT installers put in. The 2 fellas that did the install were very professional. They arrived at the set day and time and finished the job a lot quicker than I thought they would, even cleaning up all the bits of carpet that were left over. The install looks great. Each of these purchases were for a house that was going on the market. If I was shopping for my own home I might use a "higher end" dealer, but for the price you can't beat Floor Trader. I dealt with both the owner, and one of the other sales persons. Each time I was treated with courtesy and respect. I would recommend FT if you're looking for reasonably priced floor covering. read more

We have carpeted three rooms in our home and really are pleased with the quality, installation and customer service. Jerry Gentry is great to work with and is helping with a flooring project. There has never been any pressure and he is very knowledgeable about the products they have. After viewing the Floor Project's TV advertisement stating they will install for free with their popular selections brought us into their West Kellogg location. Upon arrival we were treated in a most professional way although when mentioning the TV ad - he laughed it off saying oh that TV ad- that's for carpeting only. Should have been our warning ! But the professional sales person helped us find the perfect match to go with our new counter. I was so excited! We had set up for someone else to install for us on a specific date once we knew the floor order would be in their place of business for us to pick up. This kind person came from out of town and we all rearranged our life for this project. When we went to pick up the flooring they admitted they did not have the floor we ordered and we would have to have another style instead. Since our time was precious and we tried to get the floor from other places in a crunch - we just didn't have the time to get our perfect floor now. We had to take the other flooring. It's acceptable - but it's not what we worked so hard to pick out. Not an apology - not an acknowledgement that they cared one bit about their mistake. Rude! My suggestion is that you run fast from this smooth talking non caring establishment and go to ANY other place in town for your floor. read more

We went to the Floor Project with measurements from a professional installer. We paid a reservation fee to order carpet from them, then they would install it for free. They had their installer come out, TJ. His measurements were $2,000 higher than ours. He wouldn't let me see his figures the day he measured or after. When we argued the price change they stuck by TJs word. We refused to work with them after that. When we did have it installed weird thing they didn't need more carpet than we already thought... read more

I had selected my flooring for a kitchen and utility room from the salesman, only to have the head installer come to my home, and be in a terrible hurry. He complained about my frig not fitting through the door without taking the doors off, and wouldn't answer my answer my questions as to how he would prepare the old flooring before overlaying with the new. I ended up going back to the salesman to find out I was supposed to remove the doors on my frig, myself, and a waffeling of "the installer should clean and sand down the floor, as he's been doing this for 40 years." I felt I was being pushed for a fast job that might not turn out well, and walked out! read more

Great price for vinyl wood like flooring. Installer were pricy IMO but one year later when glue came loose on one part they repaired in a very timely fashion and no charge, very professional. Plan having them do rest of house as well. read more

We had a breezeway room in our 65 year old ranch style home with glued down carpet squares installed 25 years ago. Thought we'd do it ourselves but it was just too much of a headache. I drove by The Floor Project store and did a u-turn and went inside to check them out. Glad I did cause it was a one-stop shopping experience so-to-speak. Sales guy Ric Lavelle was very knowledgeable, knew the right questions to ask me then told me the pros & cons of different floor products. All products are on display and they have good size samples to take home to help decide best color and style. Ric the sales guy also came to my house to look at the job requirements and take measurements. I wanted my floor project done within 2 weeks to meet a deadline.... and it was all complete 24 hours before my deadline. They arranged for an install team to come out & remove old flooring, install new flooring and totally clean up before they left. 3 guys arrived on time, one took away the trashed old flooring. They also removed furniture and then returned furniture at end of job. The floor looks great and what I loved most about this store is that they handled the entire project from start to finish.... and Ric stopped by on install day to make sure all was going well. The reason they got one star was because they were, in fact, open during the posted hours. Otherwise, they'd have zero! I went in to check out their selection, prices, etc. & the woman who waited on me could not have cared less if I were in there to give her a million dollars. She just kinda waved her hand at a bunch of carpet rolls & said, "We've got that all the time," then went & sat down. When I had a specific question about vinyl flooring, her answer was "It's all the same, just different prices." Quite frankly, I was interested in purchasing an entire houseful of carpet - I certainly won't be buying it there. Obviously it's just too much trouble to wait on customers - so it's too much trouble for me to go back with my checkbook! read more

My wife and I have done over $15,000 in business with the Floor Project over the last 6 years and had been generally satisfied. We own 4 investment properties and have purchased flooring for all of them as well as our home over the last 6 years from The Floor Project. A salesman called me in October of 2014 and said the vinyl we had been using in a duplex was being discontinued and offered a good deal on remaining stock at $368. I told them I didn't need it right away and had no place to store it. He said that was no problem and that they would hold it until needed. I checked with them at least once every 6 months over a two year span and verified that it was being held. I would verify that it was being held as I worked on other projects as well. I last verified in December 2015. They stored it much longer than I had anticipated, however the unit that I was going to use it in was occupied and the tenants did not want the inconvenience of having the kitchen appliances removed and asked us to wait. At the end of the tenants lease in June of 2016, I called the store to schedule installation and was told there was nothing being held for me. The original salesman was no longer with them. I was told by the store manager that there was nothing they could do for me. I asked to speak to his supervisor who turns out to be a regional Mgr. in Wichita and he told me the same thing. I asked how he was going to take care of the problem. After going back and forth his solution was to offer me a remnant they had in the store that was left over from another sale that turns out didn't match in color, pattern or quality. I said this was unacceptable as we had already done the entry way, master bath, half bath and lower level bath in the specific color and pattern that was being held for us. We had always used their installers but he suggested we must have already picked it up ourselves. He also said it was against their policy to hold product. If it is against their policy then they should not offer to do so. They should be able to produce a pick ticket used for inventory control signed by us or an installer to prove where it went. I suggested it must have been sold to someone else but he said that was impossible. He had no explanation of its whereabouts but apparently the store's inventory control is my problem not theirs. I asked for a refund and he said that was not going to happen. I told him I would call the BBB and discontinue doing business with them. He was unyielding and said to do what I needed to do. We have now had to order the matching vinyl from Carpet Plus and pay for it a second time. We have also just moved and are carpeting our new home. Despite all the business we have done with them and the potential to keep our business they decided to part ways with us over $368. read more
