Find another foot doctor/foot clinic. The Foot Institute is unreliable and has horrible communication. They are impossible to get into contact with. I ordered and was charged for $600 orthotics. When I paid, I booked a pick up appointment for three weeks later when they said the orthotics would be ready. The day before the pickup appointment, they cancelled because they "didn't have the supplies." They didn't provide an estimate for when they would be ready to be picked up and then never contacted me again to reschedule or let me know they were ready to be picked up. When I called multiple times, it went to voicemail. I ended up emailing them and getting into contact with them finally, but their email response time was extremely slow too. read more

I'd give a zero star if there is an option for that. I came in for wart treatment, and the doctor went straight to remove the dead skin caused by the previous treatment; everything was fine until I had the feeling that she was going to remove more than she should. The next second of course, she ripped off a chunk of the healthy skin, which hurt very bad, and I started screaming. My foot instantly bled, and as a result, I couldn't walk properly. It was so painful to drive back and the wound fluid was all over my foot the next day and kept oozing out. Not to mention that I had to wait for over 40 minutes for my appt, which was very unprofessional. read more

Not sure why this says I am in California but I'm not, I am in Calgary! Firstly this office uses a service to book all locations which is a less than an ideal situation. There's never any answer if the south office is called, no messages are returned. I sat in the waiting room for almost an hour before I was moved to a room There I waited for another 23 minutes before the doctor came in. As a side note, there is no discussion or apology from anyone over this extraordinary long wait....arrogance all round in this office and over booking at it's best. He looked at my feet, then tells me that he can't 'fix' my toenails as I have remnants of polish on them, apparently it would clog the machine they use....the same machine spas use, but ok! He cut my nails, one straight clip, no care taken and including the tip of my second toe, which bled......this was the reason I didn't go to the salon. So he then picks up a stick with something on the end of it, he told me this might sting. King of understatement, I could have screamed it hurt that bad. This was not going well! That was it, just snipped the nails, and done. He sent in his assistant, who was the nicest person there in fairness, but she also spent minimal time working on the sore and harsh callus on my heel before leaving the room. Appointment over. On returning to the front, the lady at the desk asked me if I want to rebook....no, I don't, thank you for asking. The she wanted to charge me $75 for the ultimate in worst appointments anywhere, ever! I pointed out to her that I had previously heard her tell someone else that it was $75 without a doctor referral, but with one it was $45. She asked me for the referral......hmmm, my doctor faxed it to you, not me! I did win that, she charged me $45, likely because she could see my temper rising dramatically! Don't go to this place. I told the doctor that I think I may have Plantar Fasciitis and he just went with that diagnosis. He literally sat with me for 2 minutes and said I needed orthotics. My feet were then scanned with an "iPad" by a tech and I was billed $629. My insurance requested additional documentation to cover the orthotics. They told me they'd mail it. I never got it. They then told me they'd email it. Still never got it. I had to bypass them and contact the laboratory myself to get the documents I needed for the insurance. And they never answer the phone. Your call is always forwarded to the Edmonton office and all they can do is take a message, which got me nowhere. They then booked me in for a follow up appointment (which I cancelled) and recommended I do either shock therapy or laser therapy, and that they provide that service for a hefty fee. They never even asked how my condition was or if there was any improvement or if even needed this costly therapy. This is not a medical practice in my opinion. Its strictly a place of business and they're only looking to maximize the amount of money they can make off their customers. Care and treatment of the individual comes second to that. I spent over $1,000 ordering custom orthotics and booked my follow up appointment to pick up my custom orthotics over a month in advance. The afternoon before my follow up appointment (which was scheduled for the next morning), I got a voicemail message telling me that my appointment was cancelled because the staff would not be at the location at which they booked me in. I called back to see whether I could pick up my items at any other location in the city and was connected with a call centre that, while nice enough, was entirely unhelpful. The "laser treatment" for toenail fungus is a RIP OFF. Charge you over $1,000. The doctor NEVER sees you during the treatments. Just a technician, who can't answer ANY questions. No follow up. Nothing. And I don't even think it worked. Certainly wouldn't recommend this doctor/office for this sort of thing!! read more

Unpleasant experience. The clinic uses external third party company to book appointments so you're not directly speaking to the office staff. Once you get the direct number to the clinic nobody picks up. My appointment was on a Saturday and the third party only works on mon to friday so you have no way to contact the office on Saturday. You need to make an appointment but they over book your time slot .. had to wait 30+ minutes to see the doctor. Other patients Orthotics might be higher than average in direct relative comparison to competitor clinics... Cummings Chiropractor. Not a whole ton of reviews on this stuff so I can't be sure. read more

What a rip off. He told me to monitor my issue...tried to pedel othotics and then charged me $60 without telling me in advance.

Don't waste your time or money. My daughter saw a doctor here and we were very disappointed. He was in the room for less than 10 minutes, asked very few questions and told us she need surgery (for $700) and orthotics (another $500). When I asked about using my orthotics guy, he said that was a bad idea. Needless to say, we did not spend any more of our money or time here. Found a podiatrist who took the time to ask questions and explain everything to us. read more

Horrible experience. First visit, saw the doctor for 10 minutes, he wanted me to get $600 orthotics and spend $300 / session for 10 minute shock wave therapy. This place is over priced. This place uses an external third party service to book appointments who transfers your calls to the office. Office never picks up. Been calling and leaving messages for the last month with no calls back and no one answering. Very disappointed with this business. I have come to Foot Institute in Calgary having a problem with my right foot. The lateral part of the foot caused me pain and discomfort which was more serious in the morning and altogether it had bothered me for about 2 months without any relief. I am a General Surgeon with the experience of 20 years and I was really surprised how brief and superficial a podiatrist examined my feet. After that straight away he pronounced that I have to order orthotics and the price for the pair is about $550. He did not announce the diagnosis to me. I asked if it will be a chance that my foot will trigger a compensatory healing and with a time will recover itself. The podiatrist replied that with aging it will be only worse. I had the impression that the podiatrist wished to sell me orthotics and probably he has a percentage from the deal. I was not satisfied with my experience in the Foot Institute in Calgary and decided to have another opinion. Later on I visited a different clinic where another podiatrist spent much more time to examine my foot, looked on x - rays images and noticed that I had been suffering a heel spur which triggered a plantar fasciitis. Nothing have been mentioned about orthotics however he recommended 4 - 5 sessions of shock wave therapy and after the second session I finally started to feel much better. After the fifth session all symptoms have gone. According to research a shock wave therapy is the most efficient therapy (92% of success) for plantar fasciitis and it is obvious that in the Foot Institute in Calgary I did not receive the proper examination and to get my money for orthotics it was the main idea. read more

In Feb 2017, I booked in to see Dr. Jason Lehr for a first appointment to assess my foot problem (bunions). In other podiatrist clinics previously, they would examine my feet and/or take x-ray of the affected joints and the doctor would examine these and explain to me the progress of the disease and the right course of treatment. With Foot Institute, the clinic has a lady (tech? assistant?) look at my foot me while I was waiting for the doctor; she then scanned my foot to make a pair of orthotics assuming that this was what I would need even before the doctor saw me. The doctor did not x-ray my foot and I have no idea how my joint deformity has progressed. They seemed to assume that I came in for a pair of orthotics. At check-out, they charged me $629.00 for the orthotics which I wasn't sure I needed. I also wasn't sure I wanted to have the orthotics done with them because I had been used to having a cast/mould of my feet rather than scans. Within an hour after the appointment in the afternoon, I called the clinic to cancel after some research of the two methods. But I was only able to leave a voicemail as the clinic has no direct line. The clinic did not return my call until 11am the next day and told me that there was no way to cancel. They could refund only a portion of the money. Since I didn't want to lose over a hundred dollars for nothing, I went along with it. However, when I picked up the orthotics, I noticed that they had a 1-2mm bump in the middle. I could not wear them even for more than a couple minutes. They said that they would send them back to the lab to smooth out that bump. But that never got fixed. They kept making me go back to the clinic to pick up the same pair of orthotics with the same issue and each time, Dr. Lehr would say they would send them back to the lab to be fixed but they were never fixed. The bump in the middle of the orthotics would make wearing them very uncomfortable. I have had three pairs of custom orthotics made by other podiatrists and have never seen this issue before. They kept blaming the lab but we could not contact the lab to have the issue resolved. They make the appointments to see Dr. Lehr rather challenging too. One time, they called me five minutes before an appointment and announced that the doctor decided to cancel the clinic that morning on Stampede Parade Friday. Another time, they called one day before the appointment to say that the doctor had checked the orthotics and decided to send them back to the lab. These appointments were weeks of waiting in between. It's been six months since I paid in full and I am still without the pair of orthotics they think I need. I had to call and complain to the person who does bookings in Edmonton. Eventually, she got me speaking to Karen their manager. Karen told me that the clinic should not have refused to cancel the orthotics in the first place as they have patients who change their minds and cancel even one day after as it is perfectly doable. So she suggested that I speak to the clinic but the clinic booked me in for an appointment, which I waited weeks for, and called me just one day before to tell me that they didn't need to see me anymore, they would just issue a partial refund and cancelled my appointment. But I never accepted that as a resolution. And I never received any refund. I called Karen again but she did not return calls or messages. The staff who answered the phone today even hanged up on me.
