I wnet here after a friend reccomended it and the ladies there were so rude, insulting me in another language, thinking i didnt understand but i sure did understand, they said i had the FATEST, FLAKIEST feet they have ever seen. They were very rough with my feet, they made my feet hurt more than they already did and they ended up TAKING PICTURES of my feet WITHOUT my consent and then they said in their language that they would sell the pics of MY feet for money for themselves, SO SELFISH. And on top of all that they were rushing so much that my feet looked worse after i left than when i came in. And it was so expensive too, even after the horrible treatment. I am a low income person and seen a doctor under the ambiguity that the consult fee also included doing something about my toe nail. Nope! I just paid $75.00 for the doctor to look at it and then tell me I need to pay $535.00 for the removal of the toe nail. Why don't they tell you the consult doesn't include any treatment? They did not care that I am low income! They just care about making money! My eyes teared up while I told them had I known they were gonna charge me $75 and do nothing about it, I wouldn't have come!! I'm not working! I'm low income and a mom! Do they care? No they don't! ZERO STARS BUT IT WON'T LET ME. I have not been here and I will not bring my service here EVER based on the reviews. HOWEVER, My sister went to this southside location today and she is low income. They treated her like a dummy and charged her $75 to tell her she needs $575 dollars worth of stuff done. Number one she should be covered by INAC, why this dr does not know this I have no clue other than the fact that they could be shady. My sister was not given an explanation about the surcharge, she thought they would fix her toe with that amount. Then they back peddled and made her feel like an idiot. You know they could have been KIND and RESPECTFUL to her but all they care about is their bottom dollar. Please do not go to this place and go to REAL DOCTOR WHERE YOU CAN GET REAL HELP. read more

Been going there for almost 5 months, still in pain. Dr. is pleasant enough, spends about 30 seconds with you. Don't expect them to be on time, in my last 2 visits they were 45 & 25 minutes behind, I would have walked out if I wasn't in pain. To me this is a lack of respect for their clients and just trying to get as many people through so they can focus on making as much money as possible. read more

On January 23, 2015 I had an appointment with Dr.Mandel, for 9:15 am, I arrived early and had my paperwork filled out early as well, I sat and waited about a half hour passed my appointment time, I was then brought into the room and waited another 10 minutes, When the doctor did arrive, he had me take off my shoes and socks, then stand up, he then said my toes were inflamed and I needed to take anti-inflammatoris, he left, without even looking at my feet up close. A nurse came by and I had to ask her what was going on, the doctor only spent about 5 minutes with me, She went and check and said I was done, pay at the front desk. When I got to the front I asked if it was normal for such a short visit. The girl paused giving me a blank stare, another girl then said everyone is different and takes different amounts of time, then said my total was 45$. I was not happy with this service so I went to see another doctor the following day, The doctor said I had athleats foot and told me how to take care of it. I called the company that same day Saturday January 24, but they were closed. I called again on Monday January 26, asking for a refund, I was told there was no one there that could help me but I could leave a voice mail message. I did and never recived a call back. Today January 27, I called again and this time I was told there would be no refund for the cost and they were sorry for the misdiagnosis but they were not willing to do anything about it. I highly suggest you save your time and money to go to another place, this is just a cash grab and they tried to push as many people through as possible. read more

Sadly, my experience as both a health care professional and a patient at the St. Albert location was substandard. I went for orthotics. The fee for the orthotics was $569.00 of which my insurance paid $400, with me covering the remaining $169 out of pocket. The orthotics never corrected the condition I went in for. The orthotics were sent back to the lab twice for correction, at my initiation. No difference was noted upon trying them. Instead, the podiatrist insisted they would correct the problem with time. They have not. No difference felt or visually seen from day 1 of wearing them. I was going to get a refund except when I read the 11- point criteria to obtain a refund, less than the $149.00 "Administration and Processing" fee, I decided against it as receiving $20 was not worth the paperwork and time. A sign at the front desk of the clinic identified a $75 fee for the initial assessment. No mention was made of my provincial plan paying a portion of this. That was identified by my insurance company. Apparently, my provincial plan provides $250 annually for podiatry and orthotist services. Of that, my provincial plan reimburses the provider $37.67 for an initial assessment. So, I paid the full $75 to the podiatrist and then the podiatrist was reimbursed $37.67 by my provincial heath plan for the same initial assessment. The optics of this has left a very bad taste in my mouth. Additionally, I waited 1.5 hours for my initial assessment. No apology was forthcoming for their tardiness. My experience was they were more interested in completing the process and moving onto the next patient than being interrupted with my questions of concern and clarification. I give them a 1 out of 10 on customer service. As mentioned, my overall experience has been substandard and I will not return to nor recommend this clinic to either friends or patients. read more

Went to this clinic and experience was similar to the reviews above. After many months and much pain I found my way to another doctor and found I didn't need the $500 orthotics and even if I did, they were the wrong kind! The doctor, who didn't want to touch my foot, looked sad about my pain, but said to keep trying the orthotics, so I did! I guess I didn't want to think I'd wasted my money. Also found the place dirty and staff unpleasant. Don't go!! read more

Sherwood Park Location. We paid for two orthotic just under $1000 dollars. The orthotics are just plastic no padding. Cheap and not worth the money. Dr. hardly spends time to talk or listen to the patient. No resolution to the pain problem so they told my husband to tape his feet. Next appointment would be another $ 25 dollar. Where is the quality for the money? This experience has left us with a bad feeling about The Foot Institute quality and care for it's patients. Please think twice before trying this company. To call the staff at The Foot Institute "doctors' is a stretch. They are sales people first and foremost. They are quick to sell orthotics but offer no help in assessing or treating your problem. Do not expect helpful service or any explanation on your problem and certainly no discussion on treatment options. I was referred to the Foot Institute by my family doctor after she diagnosed me as having metatarsalgia. I received orthotics but no other assessment or diagnosis. With the orthotics the pain subsided but after a few months the pain returned. I returned to the Foot Institute and was told that my orthotics had worn out and I needed new ones, again no examination or assessment. The "doctor" didn't even look at my feet. With the new orthotics (second pair within 6 months) there was no relief and my feet still hurt. I returned to the Foot Institute and was again told that my orthotics had worn out and that I should purchase new ones, this was after only 2 months of wear. I did not buy the orthotics but returned to my family doctor where she diagnosed me as have developed plantar fasciitis. This time I went to physio and after 2 sessions I am now pain free. Do yourself a favor skip the Edmonton Foot Institute. It is defiantly nothing more than a cash grab. read more

The reason this outfit is getting even one star is that the orthotics I got from them work well. Having said that, their service is so lousy that I will not be going back EVER! My orthotics need to have the cloth on them replaced, so I took them in this morning, thinking it was no big deal. How long does it take to cut some cloth and glue it in place? Still, it's a long way to the clinic so I took time off work and made a special trip. The receptionist took my inserts around the corner out of sight. I could hear her talking to the other doctor at the clinic. No, he told her, there is nothing we can do for him. He has to see Dr. Young. So she comes back to the front and tells me there is nothing anyone can do for me about gluing new pieces of cloth on a shoe insert UNLESS I see the doctor first. What rubbish! That is definitely NOT what I was told when I bought these inserts! I was told that they would need recovering eventually and that I should bring them in. There was never a word about having to make another appointment and pay another examination fee. This is like going to the drug store to get a prescription filled and being told that you can't have it!! I need these inserts to walk and I need them as soon as possible. These so-called doctors know that, they prescribed the damned things. So they think they have me over a barrel. To hell with that. I am going to go see someone else. Maybe someone out there gives a damn about patient care. read more

Just wasted travel time and a whole bunch of time sitting in the waiting room. Wished I would have read the review before. After there is a large surcharge just to see a Dr., you would think they would have better customer service than this. Arrived for my appointment and waiting for over half an hour, after seeing patient after patient coming in after me going in, I inquired about my time. She said he was running behind and still had 2 patients to see before me. So what does that mean? 10 mins? 30 mins? An hour? She said probably at least an hour. So why not tell me that when I arrived so I didn't waste all that time? They have no respect for YOUR time nor common courtesy to advise you of delays. read more

This is another medical business that seems to put business before medicine. I would really like to know how these for-profit Drs. are regulated. All patients are "extra billed" over and above what they receive from Alberta Health. For $110 ($40 Alberta Health and $ 60 patient fee) I got no more than 15 min of diagnosis. This did not include any gait analysis or foot impression. For that I would have had to buy orthotics starting at $550. I did get more detailed info on plantar fasciitis which I had suspected. I will pursue over the counter insoles before considering these prices. I would prefer medical professionals to be salaried. I feel there is a great conflict of interest in clinics pushing their products and technologies at such high mark ups. read more

I arrived early for my appointment, but waited 30 minutes until I was taken to the consulting room. I then waited a further 10 minutes in his room. When the doctor eventually turned up, he did not apologise or offer any kind of explanation for his being late. I had a corn, which he did not properly remove so within 1 week, I was in pain again. And I paid $60 for this experience. I would never go back to this place. read more

When I called to book my first appointment (this was my fist time ever visiting a podiatrist), I was told there was a "one time first visit fee of $60". I accepted this and had my visit which required that I be sent for an X-ray. A follow up visit to review the X-ray results was booked with the girl at the front desk. On my second visit, I was told the bone was not broken and was not given any treatments recommendations other than to purchase an orthotic (through them of course). This recommendation wasn't specifically for the immediate issue as it would take weeks to get the orthotics but it could prevent future problems. I decided to wait on that and was told to see the girl up front (same one who booked the appointment) and was told the fee for the visit was $35. I told her that I was upset that I hadn't been told about the fee and that if I had known about it, I would have contacted my family doctor, who simply gives X-ray results over the phone. She sat there staring at me and said nothing. She did not even offer an apology for failing to inform me of the additional charge but instead just looked at me blankly. I paid and turned to walk out when she sarcastically called out, "Have a nice day". I promptly turned around and demanded that the fee be reversed. I will never go back and will make a point of telling everyone I know about this snotty, unprofessional receptionist and the clinic she works at. Coincidentally, I had a Physio appointment later in the day for another issue. My physiotherapist was willing to review this foot issue and and provided pain relief recommendations as well as some exercises that will help prevent future problems. While the podiatrist (Dr. Schnoor) I saw seemed knowledgeable about what the problem was he offered very little actual advice other than trying to sell his orthotics. I likely would have purchased them immediately if he offered any other treatment suggestions such as physio but his failure to do so left me feeling that this visit was simply an opportunity for a sales pitch...and they wanted me to pay for the time used to make their pitch. My rating would be 0 if i could. After 3 months I am still having issues with ingrowing nails. Don't ever get treatment by Dr.Mandel!!!! he is the worst!!!!! I went there with 2 ingrow nails ended up with 5!!!! A lot of issues still going on, how he cut my nails id absurd. and he advise me to do a "surgery" with him that would cost $4.000!! To cure the issue. The guy is joke. Don't EVER get treatment by this so called "doctor". And pay $45.00 to get worse. read more

Attended this place for othotics because it was larger company. Admin staff did have attitude despite me dropping $600 for a pair of orthotics. No thank you, nothing. Poor service all round. Doctor room was filthy which is shameful given we have to take our shoes and socks off. Technology out of date now that I have been elsewhere. Orthotics caused pain after break in period and was informed by other professional they were casted wrongly, allegedly. Seen by Dr. who spent approximately 10-15 min or less with myself. Visit lacked depth and had little knowledge to offer despite me asking several specific "orthotic" questions in terms of quality and best fit for me. Little choice in terms of type and quality. Dr. was unable to (or just couldn't be bothered to) provide supplemental information in terms of my podiatry pathology. The office overcharged me and took quite a bit to have the same reimbursed. Go somewhere more personal and an establishment that actually wants and shows appreciation of business. This is my opinion and posted without predjudice or malice. read more
