Yes, I had an $18 poster for the movie Hackers professionally framed. Yes it was totally worth it! My friend and I had decided to hang this poster in our office, kind of as an inside joke, and wanted something eye-catching to make it stand out. Emily really helped bring that idea to life! She asked a lot of questions, gave us a ton of options, and broke down the pricing every step of the way so we knew what we were getting into. She was great, and the finished product turned out beautiful! And if that wasn't enough, when my friend moved out of state, Emily agreed to slice the thing in half, King Solomon style, so my friend and I could both keep a piece - if that's not good customer service, I don't know what is. read more

When all is said and done...now a BIG sigh, I want it to be known that I just wasn't happy with how my picture was framed by Therieau Art and Frame. It's not that it was terrible, it's just that it was not what I originally asked for. Like somebody said in a previous review this was my first time getting custom framing (it's NOT cheap either), but in my defense I did send Emily (co-owner) a link about having my picture printed on Canson infinity Fiber Rag (https://youtu.be/BsG4TWdvtxA) and then having it mounted on to gatorboard which would've given it a much cleaner and pristine look then the standard mount and frame which in IMHO kind of masks it, which is what I received. Kind of blah. And to top it off they misplaced the original print I brought in and only retrieved after a subsequent visit after I realized it was missing?? Apparently my expectation and their understanding of what I wanted was waaaay beyond their purview. Just sayin' The good news is, I moved recently and either misplaced or lost the (framed) picture somewhere between Wilson and Lawrence Ave, maybe it flew away! Kind of glad though, I didn't care for it much anyways. Although that was an expensive mistake ($145) But I still have the original picture on my flashdrive. There is a God!!! read more

I don't like feeling hustled and that's what happened with my purchase at this store. I was in the neighborhood and stopped by to get a quote for framing a small piece of artwork. Instead of giving me a range or ballpark figure the woman (Emily?) told me she'd first need to know what materials I was thinking of picking. So we spent at least ten minutes picking out a frame, matting, discussing layout, Emily buttering me up etc. Then Emily adds up the total on an order form. It came out to $95! That was way over what I wanted to spend. She said that was as low as the job could go unless I went without matting. I should have just left at that point. But because I'm nice/a pushover I went ahead with it. The work is nice and I guess I'm happy with it but in hindsight there's no way I would have spent this much money. This is my first time getting custom framing. I realize it's my fault for not saying no or doing a little homework. But at the end of the day I'm just not happy with how everything played out. read more

Alright everyone, this is a read, but do yourself a favor & READ IT. This is my BBB complaint & like Matt U., I was hustled/cheated/ripped off. And after you give them your money? Nothing, that's what; no service whatsoever. You've been warned. I had done business with Therieau a couple years ago to which I had some pieces framed & Paul from Thrieau came & hung them for me. On 01/05/19 I brought in 13 pieces I needed framed & when I was ordering it mentioned about him coming out to hang these pieces as well, to which I was told it shouldn't be a problem. So after waiting for the new pieces, I reached out to Paul & was told he wasn't hanging anymore. When I mentioned my initial conversation with Emily about it, he told me she should not have spoken for him & said he'd find someone to do it & that it should cost about $90. Ok, need it done, so fine. He gave my information to a company & during their call to me, told me that the FIRST HOUR was $180. Ugh. So one of their employees Stephen comes out, installs brackets on my newly painted wall, tries to install the pieces which scratches up the new painted wall, & then tells me the brackets he brought will not work because of how the pictures were connected. A conversation you think would be held prior to Stephen coming over. Stephen said his boss was going to call me & he never did. I left a message with Paul which was not returned until several days later when I left a message saying I was going to file as complaint. He told me he was going to speak to his lawyer & get back to me the following Monday (02/25/19), but only called me this morning to honestly just argue about it & tell me not to call anymore or come to his shop. I was nothing but polite & professional, and he wants to accept no responsibility, especially considering me mentioning that if I knew up front he was not hanging any longer, I would have had to get a quote for that & it would then have been out of my budget. I paid him cash & I have no recourse & he knows it, so he can treat me with disrespect & brush me off. read more

I brought several large vintage posters to Paul to frame and could not be happier with the results. This particular poster is an antique market find and one of my favorites but it was in terrible shape when I brought it in: torn at the edges, wrinkled, dirty, and yellowing. Paul gave me a very reasonable quote to have it restored, mounted on linen, and framed with conservation-quality materials. He will treat your art with the utmost care and attention. I called up Therieau with a few odd requests I tried to get taken care of at a few other frame shops. The owner (Paul) talked to me and said he liked a good challenge and to bring it by. He fixed a shadow box, re-framed a jersey, re-matted a water stained painting, fix a frame, and made a special stand off for a triptych. Some of these pieces no one else would touch or they didn't know how to do. They even included hangers with every piece. In all we've had at least 16 pieces framed or fixed. They understood our budget and found frames that worked. The experience was totally laid back, there was never an up-sell, and everyone who works there is just a generally laid back nice person. I plan on referring and doing business with them for years to come. If you are looking for someone to frame anything, I recommend you stop in. read more

I brought in a canvas print to get framed. I was quite happy when the woman working there knew my painting was from Ghostbusters 2, I knew it was in good hands. They were very helpful in finding the best frame while also considering I didn't want to spend too much on the frame but get something that looked fitting for the painting. They stretched and mounted the canvas then framed in about two weeks. It's pretty light for its size and looks perfect. I'm definitely going to use them again. It also helps that parking is pretty easy to find around them. read more

These people were a pleasure to deal with. I went in with a piece of original art and a print and had no idea what I wanted and they were great about guiding me and giving me ideas of different mats and frames. I also thought for the level of service the pricing was very fair. Sometimes big box stores like Michael's and JoAnn's can seem cheaper because of their 50% off coupons but I'm starting to think they just hike the prices up there first because this seemed comparable to what I've spent there AFTER the coupon and with much more competent service. I can't say enough good things about my experience here! I had a canvas painting stretched and framed, and Paul was a pleasure to work with for every step of the process. I was quoted a very reasonable price on the phone, and when I came in, Paul informed me I overestimated the size and that the price would be even lower! This spoke volumes about the character and integrity of this business. The frame choices were great and very reasonably priced as well, and the final product was of outstanding quality. I stopped by here after I had put together a print, mat and frame but forgot to purchase wire to be able to hang it. When I walked in, I was greeted right away by two very friendly staff members who said if I brought in the picture, they would put the wire on for free! I have been going to see Paul (the owner) for over ten years. I like to have wedding invitations framed as a gift. I won't get my framing done anywhere else! He and his staff have always given me the best advice and they can cater their artistic eyes to any style. I get the BEST service and I trust that my framing will be in great hands. Paul has even fixed (for free) a framed invitation when my friend had a pipe burst and got water damage on the matting. My husband has also taken things to Paul to frame for me as a gift. Greetings fellow yelpers! I recently had a great experience at this art frame shop. In fact, I found it on yelp. I brought in an antique 3-dimentional carved ivory artwork that had slipped out of the frame. The owner, Paul, quickly sized up the problem, noting that part of the problem was that the panel upon which the ivory attached had warped. He said that he could get it back to me within a few days and that the price was only $40. I had let him know that I was having people over for dinner and wanted it back on the wall where it belonged ASAP.... I was happily surprised that he not only did a great job on the repair, but he got it done the same day at no extra charge. The workmanship was impeccable. His shop is clean and clear of clutter. I was thoroughly impressed with the customer service and final product I received from Therieau Art and Frame. After noticing that a collection of autographs on an 8.5 x 11 piece was beginning to fade in a pre made frame I purchased from a big box store, I stopped into Therieau Art and Frame to ask for their advice on how I could stop the fading of autographs. After some careful thought and consultation about all my options (which even included going to a document restorer which Therieau Art and Frame would not have benefited from referring) we decided to put a UV glass and change the size of the frame. I was surprised with how soon my project was ready and when I arrived to pick up my piece the final product was even better than imagined. Paul Therieau does excellent work. My father was a framer and taught me a lot about the craft, and I am very particular with respect to materials, finishes, mats, bevels, and so forth. Until I found Therieau Art and Frame, I'd had difficulty finding a framing service I was satisfied with. I have been very happy to discover that Paul is very sensitive to all of the finer points of framing I'm concerned with. He is skilled and has a sophisticated aesthetic. He also has a range of lovely materials available. I'm extremely pleased with the work he has done for me and will be returning to his shop soon to have further framing work done. I've been taking pieces to be framed by Paul since his early days on Southport and I highly recommend his work. His craftsmanship and technique are superior and rare, since framing has become mostly automated and mechanical. Paul does a lot of the kinds of framing that no one does anymore. For example, I wanted a floating frame for a canvas and you can't find frame shops willing to do this since the frame needs to be joined by hand. A few times, I've had Paul make tiny frames (I like to give framed postage stamps as gifts), and again, these are the kinds of frames that other framers just won't build. Paul is truly master of lost framing techniques and is known for his willingness to take on the "impossible" project. I've also had Paul install artwork at my house after a move. He has a great eye for grouping images. Great guy to work with. I would not take my framing anywhere else! read more

We brought in our giclee style Canvas to be stretched that we had bought on vacation in Hawaii. The first time the canvas was stretched we noticed that it was a bit wavy but gave it a few weeks to flatten out. Unfortunately it stayed a bit wavy so we called and were told to bring it in to be re-stretched. It turned out that we had gotten a low-quality canvas, and the owner Paul recommended that we contact the gallery and have them replace the canvas. He told us exactly what we should say to the canvas to make sure that the gallery would replace it. After some back and forth with the gallery they agreed to send us a new print. Paul sent multiple emails back and forth with the gallery, shipped the original canvas back to Hawaii, and fronted the shipping cost. When the new canvas came in it turned out that the artist had signed the print number right where the canvas was going to be stretched so it got cut off. Again Paul advised us to ask for a replacement from the gallery even though I'm sure he just wanted to be finished with the process. Again, Paul fronted the money to pack and ship the item back to Hawaii, and did a beautiful job stretching the canvas when a suitable one finally arrived. We chose Therieau Art and Frame because they were the most reasonably priced frame shop in our neighborhood. They not only did a great job stretching our canvas, but truly went above and beyond to correct mistakes that they had nothing to do with. We will definitely go back with any framing needs in the future. read more
