Our hotel was on the main strip but it was only a short Uber/Lyft ride to this ice cream shop. They have a lot of different unique flavors - the mango and champagne sherbet combo is bomb! The champagne flavor is actually a little on the stronger side too ;) The staff were really nice and considerate to my fiancé's peanut and tree nut allergy when we were ordering. Luckily one of the staff (I wish I remembered his name!) could relate because he also has the same allergy. He made sure to thoroughly clean the scooper in between flavors so that there would be no cross contamination! I got a vanilla and Dulce de Leche and they were both too sweet, even when sharing with two other people we couldn't finish the two scoops! Besides that, the vanilla flavor was kind of weird and almost tasted like flour? Also, the Dulce de Leche was more like vanilla ice cream with some Dulce de Leche in it. As soon as we walked in we were greeted (all 9 of us). They kindly and patiently explained to us how their menu worked and how their ice creams were made. They let each one of us taste at least 5 flavors without getting annoyed or flustered about it (like every other idea cream shop gets). It was a young crowd serving ice cream, they were extremely accommodating and welcoming. They're the reason why I ordered my cone! Ok, so the ice cream, this is what you want to know about right? I have no complaints about it, I'm honestly happy with it and relieved to know that it's zero preservatives, it's untouched, the way it should be. Unfortunately, I've had way better explosions in my mouth with ice cream from other locations. This ice cream was good, it was edible, it also wasn't too cheap. For a $7+ waffle cone with two scoops, I kind of expect more. It's not about the price, it's about the experience in my mouth. My taste buds were the judge and they weren't impressed. SUPER disappointed in this place! My parents flew in to visit me here in Miami Beach and I took them here for ice cream. To say I was disappointed is an understatement! WAY OVERPRICED, and the serving size was laughable! My pictures attached was a regular cup and over $7!! I got more ice cream on my two sample spoons that I tried before picking my flavors. Really good homemade ice cream! I had brown butter flavor and an Oreo espresso one that I can't remember the name of. They let you try different flavors as well. I had the vegan almond pistachio and it was good but has a soy base which I don't prefer to eat. I would return to try other flavors if in town. read more

It's great that it is family run, and the oldest ice cream shop in Miami, but maybe I came at an off night because all of the flavors had no taste, and tasted like store-bought ice cream, of the Bryer's variety. I tried at least 5 flavors, and none of them made me gasp "This is the best ice cream I've ever had!" I tried champagne, dulce de leche, The Jack Daniel's maple and walnut flavor, key lime, and a tried and true vanilla. I settled for a mini scoop of the Jack Daniel's flavor and for almost $6 color me surprised. Frieze caters to most diets because they offer Kosher, dairy-free, vegan, and your traditional ice cream shop toppings... Oreos, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, caramel, whipped cream, etc. The employees were nice enough for 9 pm on a Sunday, and there were several other customers going in and out, as well as a few delivery orders. There is a freezer stocked with pints of pre-packed ice cream as well as ice cream sandwiches, sodas and water. There are 2 benches inside the parlor as well as benches outside the parlor for you to relax, or you can always stroll down Lincoln Road. This tiny place is crazy. The music, the staff, the patrons, the ice cream, it's all crazy! The Frieze is that twilight zone that we randomly find here and there. I am most fond of gelato than of ice cream, so whenever I find a place that has good gelato, well, that's it for me. I rarely try ice cream unless it is highly recommended, and that is how The Frieze ties in, as they have a full fridge with about 16(?) gelato flavors, beside their 16(?) regular ice cream flavors. The question mark means I am estimating. The music, well, it ranges from death metal to Latin stuff. The staff and the patrons are a treat in and of itself. You'll just fall in love with it all. Ice cream is so tasty at The Frieze! We've been passing The Frieze for a number of years because we typically frequent another frozen dessert establishment in the area. The Frieze is located in the middle to western section of the Lincoln Road mall.. just a half block from the center of the mall.. just look for the neon sign. They offer both ice cream and sorbets in about 10-20 flavors of each. They have a variety of sizes, I opted for the regular cup ($5.99) which allows you to get two very large scoops and can get two different flavors. I chose the pistachio and vanilla combination. My favorite was the vanilla (surprisingly.. ) The vanilla was so creamy and flavorful, I was shocked! The staff was so friendly, and managed the crowds well. They made you feel at home, and offered menu suggestions and also offered samples. If you're looking for great homemade ice cream in South Beach, give The Frieze a shot! read more

The ice cream shop itself has a cool (get it?) throwback vibe to the 50's-60's to the original ice cream parlor. While the shop is small, they have dozens of flavors. The best part? Free samples and they are more than happy to load you up before eventually picking your favorite. One of the samples I tried was their grape nuts flavored ice cream. I ended up passing on it, but next time I'm getting it. Who would have thought that grape nuts cereal would make for good ice cream? But I can tell you it does. I ended up with (former) Miami Heat Chris Bosh's flavor: Bosh. It's a peanut butter lovers dream come true! It's filled with chocolate chips, fudge, and peanut pieces. Good lord it's amazing. I am a local and don't mind treating myself to overpriced South Beach ice cream from time to time. But if I'm going to pay 7 dollars for a single scoop of butter pecan on what they tout as "cones made in house" I expect it to be great. The cone was so stale that even the squirrel that was next to the bench where I was sitting, would not eat it!! This was clearly a grocery store cone and it was not even fresh, totally stale.
