I had cravings for KFC for awhile now and as there are not many options in Sauga, I had to settle with the Fry. Ordered half and half chicken ( original and soy garlic) Pros - the take out package was so cute. There was a drawstring to carry the box and the complimentary radish, pop were separated with the pop having its own cup holder - the smell of the chicken was to die for. We were rushing to get home as the KFC smell filled our car - less oily than American fried chicken like Popeyes , Kentucky Fried chicken etc - very crispy Cons - the smell surpassed the taste. The original chicken was rather bland and the soy garlic was just a tad better - only gave us one tiny sauce container for the soy garlic - not enough :(:( - pricey compared to other kfc restaurants and pricey in general. It was $36 including tax for about roughly 10 pieces of each flavour so 20 pieces total. Keeping in mind this includes many nugget size pieces. - excluded from the daily Fry specials that are available in the East end locations :(:( Overall would not return unless to the east end locations where there are daily specials. Not sure what happened but the quality of their chicken has gone down significantly over the past couple of years. I used to order from The Fry a lot because I love all things Korean Fried Chicken and never had an issue with their food. I took a break for a bit but I decided to come back and give it a try. I ordered the garlic butter fries, soy garlic boneless, and corn cheese. The garlic butter fries tasted amazing, as usual. But there was barely any powder! It wasn't enough to coat the bottom pieces which is disappointing since the powder is SO GOOD. These fries are a must try if you love the combination of salty and sweet. You can't really go wrong with corn cheese so no complaints about that one. I was pretty disappointed with the chicken. It was extremelyy dry and there was barely any sauce. The pieces were small and I felt like I was eating fried batter most of the time. I also felt that the portion sizes were small for the price. I highly reccomend this place for good korean chicken! Me and my boyfriend came to this place around july of 2020 during the pandemic. Surprisingly, they did not allow indoor seatings that time. I'm not sure how it is now with their seating policy. Although, we were able to take order inside with the lady. We took time to check out their menu. It's a bit pricy but i understand why - their food are always made in good quality, fresh and well cooked. I can tell because i have always heard about this place all over instagram. We got chicken boneless bites and cheesy garlic fries. I forgot what sauce me and my boyfriend picked for the boneless bites though (tears). It was really delicious though! We finished them all, just a few chicken bites to eat at the end of the night to enjoy while we have it haha. The lady gave us coke, some napkins and forks. We didn't expect that all! The packaging is so cute, we obviously had to take pictures to appreciate. We were told to wait about 20-25 minutes which is not bad. The fried chicken is always good, but quite expensive. The decor is nice. The service, on the other hand, could use a lot of work. I have never seen the front of house crack a smile - she's not rude, just indifferent. On one occasion, when calling to place a pickup order, they repeatedly picked up then hung up instead of answering the phone. Later, inside the restaurant, I called again and the front of house denied that the phone ever rang. It's a strange way to run a place where a major part of their revenue comes from takeout. And the online menu has no prices so you can't make an informed decision before calling - if they pick up. I appreciate organizations that are always seeking to improve. The Fry on Dundas, on the other hand, gives the impression that they know they're the only game in town and they don't need to try. If there was a nearby alternative, I would not return. read more

Tried The Fry for the first time. The food in the pictures was about ~$96 and while that may sound expensive, it was honestly A LOT. The chicken were all a small order but there were so many pieces that I had to take them home. Boneless chicken in spicy sauce - I really enjoyed this one. At first I didn't get any spice but then it hits you after a few seconds, highly recommended if you're a spice fiend. There's like a subtle sweetness to the sauce but you still get that kick. The chicken is super crispy and juicy. Soy garlic chicken - this one was alright, my cousin recommended it to me but I didn't understand the hype around it. It's not terrible but you should order it to see for yourself. Powder cheese fries - absolutely loved these fries. So crispy and the cheese powder was so delicious, the powder didn't feel "dry" in any way. Reminds me of Costco fries but with cheese powder, I recommend them for sure. Crispy chicken - such a classic and you can't go wrong with the plain Jane chicken. Crispy to perfection. Sides - the top part is I want to say cabbage with some sort of aioli? Honestly not sure but it was yummy. The middle portion I think is pickled radish, it was SO good, very refreshing and crunchy. The texture to me is similar to an Asian pear. Bottom portion is a macaroni salad which was alright. We didn't actually order this, just came with our meal. Corn with cheese - can't go wrong with corn and cheese and it tasted exactly how it sounds. This was delicious; cheesey, corny, buttery... yum. I recommend this dish. Overall, this was my first time trying Korean fried chicken, so my 5-star rating might be a 1-3 star for someone who is well-versed with Korean fried chicken joints. Would I come back? Hmm, maybe after I've tried a few other places. To end off this review, if you visit here, don't expect them to hand you a menu. This is my second time at The Fry (first time at Yonge location) and it didn't disappoint. My partner and I got here around 8pm on a weekend night and the wait was about 10 minutes before we got seated. We decided to go with the honey butter fries as well as the half and half set, which came with a choice of appetizers, which we picked the calamari. Then for the half and half, we got regular and the sweet glaze one. The worker was also super sweet and gave us some corn as a service. The honey butter fries were amazing!!! Definitely a staple everytime I get korean fried chicken. The chicken itself was super crispy, but I feel like the size of each piece has gotten smaller since the first time I had it. The calamari was also super good and good amount per calamari ring. Overall we spent about 70 dollars for 2 people and we had a bunch leftover to each for lunch the next day. Korean American who moved into the area. Lived in Seoul about a decade so I fully understand Korean fried chicken. This is the best in the area so far. Actual Koreans in the kitchen and service as well. Got the soy garlic and spicy special sauce. Both legit. Chicken fried well, both sauces tasty. Only gripe is that it's not spicy enough but I've heard they've gotten complaints it's too spicy somehow?? Those who think it's too spicy should go with the non spicy special sauce (psst, that's why they have that separately) and leave the spicy special sauce to those of us who can handle even buffalo wings level (if they think this is spicy, how do they handle buffalo wings?? lol). Far too many Korean restaurants in the neighborhood are either watering things down (not at this place but other restaurants in the area) or eliminating the spice that really isn't that spicy to begin with (try Indian food/buffalo wings/Mexican food/TexMex/sichuan/southwest food/etc. Should they all be watered down? Heck no!). Spice tolerance isn't something that is fixed. The more you eat spicy food, the more your tolerance builds. We should leave the spice levels alone so the food can stay delicious as intended instead of never being able to experience the proper level of flavor! That goes for every type of food. It's been over a year since my last visit (pre-pandemic) and I my partner and I were craving that signature Korean fried chicken taste. I called ahead for pick-up and ordered their Special Half & Half fried chicken with original and soy garlic chicken, as well as a side of their BBQ chicken and spicy rice cakes. My reason being is the quantity and quality. At $30~ I was a little hesitant of their half & half chicken, but I was so pleased with the amount of chicken you get for that price and how good it is. It was like practically two whole chickens in there, and my partner and I had leftovers for the weekend lol. It was also amazingly crispy after a 20 minute commute back home after picking it up. I believe that's because of their smart packaging with a ton of air holes in it to keep it from getting soggy. Also for a side dish, you get a good amount of spicy rice cakes I am just throughly happy with The Fry and their quality of take-out, and how smooth the process was. The staff are so nice and accomodating, and my order was ready when I came to pick it up so they're efficient in their wait times. The Fry - Special Half & Half Chicken (Original and Soy Garlic) - Korean Near Me - Mississauga, Ontario

The Fry is located on the north side of Dundas in a strip mall at the north west intersection of Dundas and Palstan. Coincidentally I just finished reviewing the A&W right across the street but I was there on a different day but in the area once again. This will be the third "The Fry" that I've been to. I really enjoy Korean fried chicken and the other restaurants are quite far apart (Near Yonge and Finch and near Bathurst and Bloor) so this is the first The Fry I know of outside of Koreatown or North York. Like the other establishments the footprint isn't that large. I did notice that the booths have extremely high separators so essentially the booth is very private. It's so private in fact that you can't see the staff and I found myself having to get up and walk around to get the attention of the staff to both order and pay. The familiar water bottle with the blue flip top was given and while they don't have such drinks as hot tea (I was trying to tell my wife this place is more of a bar) they do have choices as far as beer and other non alcohol drinks went. Being that there were 3 adults and 2 children in our party I tried to order as appropriately. The fries order is about 9 bucks but it's a huge basket of hot and crispy fries. As for the chicken while I normally enjoy bone in since we had the kids I decided we'd get boneless all around. We ended up with the boneless large order of green onion and an order of boneless garlic soy. With both orders of chicken they include 4 complimentary sides which are buttered corn (one for each order of chicken) as well a trio tray of cabbage, daikon radish and macaroni. Really, the sides are just that but I feel fries are almost needed to accompany the chicken but I really wish they had some sort of rice instead but sadly they don't seem to have that. The chicken however is really good. Boneless = all dark meat which is fine by me because it's juicy and tasty and not dry. The drizzled sauce on the green onion plate was a hint of sweet and the shaved onions really give a good taste and texture to go with it. The garlic soy also are a bit sweet and savory. I figured I'd try to stay away from anything too spicy for the kids and these two choices were both good and well received. Overall it may be a bar atmosphere but if it's not as packed it's not as noisy and it's more family friendly than some places that are considered bar type establishments. I've supported The Fry a few times, during the lockdown. They were a small business I was happily supporting and did not want to see them diminish in the pandemic. I'm so disappointed to see them greedily stealing from their customers. I placed an order through Ubereats tonight and took no issue to two hour wait it would be. HOWEVER, two hours later, I find that the restaurant did not make my order, but had marked my order as complete and taken my money. This was the case for many others, as they turned away other takeout customers AND couriers with orders that were already paid for! When spoken to, the employees claimed it is not their issue. Instead, they blame it on Uber and tells the customers and couriers to contact Uber instead. The restaurant should NOT have continued to accept orders, as they fell behind The restaurant should NOT be preemptively marking orders as complete, TWO HOURS LATER, when the order had not been started or with no intention to fulfilling it. No measures were taken on premises, as there were ~20 people in a small 10 x 10 space, waiting for their orders, in the middle of a pandemic. Even worse for the influx of couriers who will now get a hit in their ratings and reported for missing food and cancelled deliveries. This could've been prevented, had the restaurant not fraudulently "complete" orders. Not even a single apology; Instead, they're dismissing the matter and blaming it Uber instead. Always made fresh to order. Comes with sizzling corn, and 3 extra sides which are refillable (coleslaw, salad, pickled cabbage) Dont be fooled tho!!! TLDR: YUM! Who doesn't love fried chicken? My friends and I came here on a Sunday evening around 7PM and were seated right away. It's a small restaurant with maybe 3 large tables (seating 6-8 person/table), and maybe 6 smaller tables (2 person/table). For the four of us, we ordered the full green onion boneless chicken combo, which comes with your choice of soju (grapefruit, citrus, yogurt) or four beers - we got the yogurt soju. We also got the garlic butter fries and spicy bbq chicken with cheese on top. Comes with complementary butter corn, pickled radish, coleslaw, Korean coleslaw. Off the bat, the fried chicken is delicious, made fresh when ordered, yum! Unlike most places, you actually find pieces of chicken under the batter! It was delicious! Garlic butter fries... if you don't like sweet and savoury, this might not be for you. It was more like a sweet dish than what you would expect as garlic fries :P Spicy bbq chicken with cheese, comes out piping hot! I don't get it. I really don't. I ordered from here after reading reviews that said while it was pricey the portions were good and the quality was worth it. Turns out the Internet lies sometimes. The portions are nowhere close to justify the ridiculous price of their food. I'm not frugal either. I have no problem ordering from places that charge $15+ for a pound of wings. But you sort of have an expectation when you spend over $20. Man, was I disappointed. First, the fries are not as good as everyone says. I ordered the cheese powder ones because I was curious and they were sort of slick? It's hard to explain. Like the powder melted so it was a sauce. But it stuck on the fries. Pretty sure that can't be good for my heart. Also, the distribution of the powder was suspect but that didn't surprise me. Guess I'm just jaded. Okay, these wings. What can I say? I went with fry wings with spicy sauce on them. Got regular sauce on the side. I guess maybe I'm too American in my wing preferences but these sauces were too sweet, too sticky, and didn't compliment the chicken at all. I will say the crisp of the wings were pretty flawless. Few minutes after we made the order, the waitress came out with sweet cheese that was sizzzzzlinngg hot and a long appetizer dish with radishes, salad and coleslaw. The corn was the best! Just be careful and let it chill a bit cause it burnt my friends tongue LOL. The spicy rice cakes came out first and this was good! Nothing too amazing, they tastes similar to Kpocha and Mymy chicken but good $ for it's portion. We added cheese to it to soften the spice and it wasn't spicy to me. Just good enough and my company enjoyed this. I wanted to add noodles only if it was glass noodles but waitress said it's udon only so only opted for cheese. The only thing I didn't like that much was the fish cakes.. smelt and tasted a bit toooo seafoody so I only had a few pieces. Next the S secret savoury bone-in fried chicken came. The small is half size. Still preetty big in portions. It tasted like a sweet semi spicy sauce. I'm not a fan of super saucy fried chicken so this was only ok to me. Finally, the L boneless green onion fried chicken came and this was huge. This was good! The wasabi sauce wasn't that overpowering and it didn't bother me. She picked the half and half chicken (half original and half secret savory sauce) with a side of cheese fries(fries with pretty much nacho cheese sauce and bacon bits). I would give this place a 4/5. Went with with a group of friends Tuesday night and it was a good experience overall. Service was quick and our waitress was very sweet and helpful. Extra Crispy Chicken - would recommend this!! It has extra batter which was light and crispy, and super juicy on the inside. Half & half chicken - this includes their original and spicy chicken. It was nice to have a variety and definitely is big enough to share between 3-4 people. Their spicy sauce is like a tangy sweet and spicy. The original was good too, but I prefer the extra crispy one more. Garlic butter fries - the fries itself is nice and crispy but we didn't like the garlic butter shake on. It was very sweet. Fish cake soup - the broth was flavorful and was nice to have on a cold night. Some of the fish cake slices looked whiter or closer to being transparent and it made me wonder how long they've had it sitting around cooked, because it was pretty soggy. Fish balls were good, and I liked that there was udon in it. This has chili flakes in it so it was a little spicy. Spicy rice cake & bbq chicken - rice cake had a nice chewy texture, but I think we didn't enjoy this dish as much because the sauce was on the sweeter side. It is spicy though. We always get our chicken here when we want some korean fried chicken since its in the area where we live, and I can honestly say that their plain fried chicken taste better. What is not to like about Fried Chicken?! I was back in town for work and decided to try this place. I had the Green Onion Chicken and the Garlic Butter Fries. The portions was too good! I could not finish the food and had to take it back to my hotel room for a late night snack. Everything was piping hot and fresh. I was super excited to hear that the Fry was opening in Mississauga. The store is not very big, but it was comfortable. There were several people in there before us, but other than that it was pretty empty (mind you, we also went on a Monday night). We ordered the half & half--half original, half soy garlic. The serving size was bigger than we expected and can probably be shared amongst 4 people. I really enjoyed the original chicken, it was crunch and the meat was tender and delicious! The soy garlic was good too but it thought that it was not as crispy as the original. The appetizers were delicious! I enjoyed the butter corn & white radish. I would come back just for the corn. Bomb ass fries! Their regular fries taste exactly like Costco! We ordered the cheese fries with bacon bits and quite enjoyed it, especially when you need it to cool down your mouth after some spicy chicken. The chicken was a lot spicier than I had hoped, by the end of it my nose was red and my tongue was burning. Though keep in mind I don't handle spicy well. Their regular fried chicken is pretty good. I'd suggest ordering boneless and getting the sauce on the side. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is that the service wasn't great. Not as bad as downtown but still not great. We ordered the Crispy chicken (C3) and the secret savoury sauce chicken (C11) along with Garlic butter fries. We also asked for a side of the spicy sauce which is a must try here. The crispy chicken was very crispy and not oily at all. All chicken dinners come with 4 complimentary sides (pickled veggies, salad with aioli sauce, coleslaw and corn) the corn & pickled veggies were our favourite. Yummy yummy fried chicken at a very reasonable cost! Not at all greasy, and very well made. My friends and I shared a large crispy fried chicken ($33) between the three of us, and honestly, it was so much food. We probably would have been fine ordering a small ($19), as we had about half left after we were done. Each order comes with 4 sides: pickled radish, shredded cabbage, coleslaw, and sweet corn. The sides are also very tasty, and they help cut through the fat of the fried chicken. The only downside is that the service is very slow, as there is only one server for some reason. They won't come to check up on you, so if you need anything you'll have to try really hard to get their attention. The space is also quite small, so if you don't come right when they open (at 5pm), you'll most definitely need to wait for a seat. read more

The lady managing the restaurant lied to me and blamed me for their mistake and the owner treated me like a child and yelled at me in the restaurant. I liked coming here before, but after this visit, I am never returning again. My family ordered chicken for a movie night, and my older brother called in to order. The lady who picked up was not courteous and rushed the call, not even telling him the final price before hanging up. I went to go pick up the chicken, and despite repeating that we had ordered three chickens and telling her the phone number, she insisted that an order of a chicken and a half-half being ours. Assuming it was a miscommunication issue, I paid, and left. 15 minutes later, I was halfway home when they called and demanded that I come back. They told my brother that I had said that the order was ours, when it was someone else's. She begged that we return, so I did. Back at the restaurant, I was angry that I had wasted time and gas to return because of this mistake, and when I walked in, the lady at the cash insisted that it was not their fault, instead implying that it was mine. She told me that she had confirmed the order with my brother, and that three chickens would've cost close to $100 and she told him that, when she clearly did not. I continued arguing with her about her lies and she finally gave in and said she'd give us a free chicken. She went back to the kitchen to tell the man in the back and he came out and introduced himself as the owner. He said that he could not give me a free chicken and instead started yelling at me, lecturing me like I was his child or something. He said that I shouldn't walk into his restaurant and make a scene, when the only reason any of this happened was because of a mistake they made. He reluctantly gave me the chicken and then we left. Skeptical me. Being me and not having much faith in restaurants serving KFC, I decided to give this place a try. It's a small restaurant located on Dundas Street East just west of Dixie Road on the Northside. Easy to get to , somewhat ample parking . The restaurant looks really small from the outside but once you get in it kind of opens up. Don't get me wrong, it is still very small but most importantly, clean.. They have Booth seating on one side and table seating on the other. I'm pretty sure if you came with a large group, like six or more, they could push together some of the tables on the other side of the restaurant to accommodate your party. The service staff was quick and attentive .me will skip right to the end of the meal and tell you that this was by far the one of the best tasting Fried Chicken experience that I ever had in my life. With that said and done, I plan on coming back to conduct a consistency check. A consistency check should be performed a week or two after your first amazing experience. It's when UC if the food taste just as good as last time you were there, and if it is, sweet! We ordered the half and half, the sweet savory sauce and a green onion. We decided to pair the Chicken with soupy duck bokie, cheese corn and garan soup. They were all fabulously delicious but the green onion chicken stood out to me the most. Tender moist cuts of chicken deep fried in batter with an onion topping. Oh how sweet could it be. We decided to opt for the bone-in cuts of and that was a decision well made. Our party involved three hungry adults and four starving kids. Despite the Feeding Frenzy, I managed to take home two pieces of chicken. On a side note, I ate them as soon as I got home. Oh my goodness I was so full. I can honestly admit that I was in Food Heaven that night.
