    Cheese powder fries

Tried The Fry for the first time. The food in the pictures was about ~$96 and while that may sound expensive, it was honestly A LOT. The chicken were all a small order but there were so many pieces that I had to take them home. Boneless chicken in spicy sauce - I really enjoyed this one. At first I didn't get any spice but then it hits you after a few seconds, highly recommended if you're a spice fiend. There's like a subtle sweetness to the sauce but you still get that kick. The chicken is super crispy and juicy. Soy garlic chicken - this one was alright, my cousin recommended it to me but I didn't understand the hype around it. It's not terrible but you should order it to see for yourself. Powder cheese fries - absolutely loved these fries. So crispy and the cheese powder was so delicious, the powder didn't feel "dry" in any way. Reminds me of Costco fries but with cheese powder, I recommend them for sure. Crispy chicken - such a classic and you can't go wrong with the plain Jane chicken. Crispy to perfection. Sides - the top part is I want to say cabbage with some sort of aioli? Honestly not sure but it was yummy. The middle portion I think is pickled radish, it was SO good, very refreshing and crunchy. The texture to me is similar to an Asian pear. Bottom portion is a macaroni salad which was alright. We didn't actually order this, just came with our meal. Corn with cheese - can't go wrong with corn and cheese and it tasted exactly how it sounds. This was delicious; cheesey, corny, buttery... yum. I recommend this dish. Overall, this was my first time trying Korean fried chicken, so my 5-star rating might be a 1-3 star for someone who is well-versed with Korean fried chicken joints. Would I come back? Hmm, maybe after I've tried a few other places. To end off this review, if you visit here, don't expect them to hand you a menu. I sat there for probably almost 10 minutes wondering why the hell the waitress didn't give a menu. It turns out you had to scan the QR code that's on the table. I didn't see it because the sanitizer bottle was blocking it, but that would've been nice to know at the beginning. The waitress ended up giving me a menu when she came over and asked if we're ready to order and I had to ask for one. That's when she told me about the QR code.

This is my second time at The Fry (first time at Yonge location) and it didn't disappoint. My partner and I got here around 8pm on a weekend night and the wait was about 10 minutes before we got seated. We decided to go with the honey butter fries as well as the half and half set, which came with a choice of appetizers, which we picked the calamari. Then for the half and half, we got regular and the sweet glaze one. The worker was also super sweet and gave us some corn as a service. The honey butter fries were amazing!!! Definitely a staple everytime I get korean fried chicken. The chicken itself was super crispy, but I feel like the size of each piece has gotten smaller since the first time I had it. The calamari was also super good and good amount per calamari ring. Overall we spent about 70 dollars for 2 people and we had a bunch leftover to each for lunch the next day. Not too bad for a fried chicken place since the price is quite similar to other places. Will come back the next time I'm in the area and craving chicken.

Updated my rating for The Fry after their STELLAR take-out service! It's been over a year since my last visit (pre-pandemic) and I my partner and I were craving that signature Korean fried chicken taste. I called ahead for pick-up and ordered their Special Half & Half fried chicken with original and soy garlic chicken, as well as a side of their BBQ chicken and spicy rice cakes. My reason being is the quantity and quality. At $30~ I was a little hesitant of their half & half chicken, but I was so pleased with the amount of chicken you get for that price and how good it is. It was like practically two whole chickens in there, and my partner and I had leftovers for the weekend lol. It was also amazingly crispy after a 20 minute commute back home after picking it up. I believe that's because of their smart packaging with a ton of air holes in it to keep it from getting soggy. Also for a side dish, you get a good amount of spicy rice cakes I am just throughly happy with The Fry and their quality of take-out, and how smooth the process was. The staff are so nice and accomodating, and my order was ready when I came to pick it up so they're efficient in their wait times. The Fry is a high recommend for take-out, as you'll will get your money's worth and more!!

The Fry is located on the north side of Dundas in a strip mall at the north west intersection of Dundas and Palstan. Coincidentally I just finished reviewing the A&W right across the street but I was there on a different day but in the area once again. This will be the third "The Fry" that I've been to. I really enjoy Korean fried chicken and the other restaurants are quite far apart (Near Yonge and Finch and near Bathurst and Bloor) so this is the first The Fry I know of outside of Koreatown or North York. Like the other establishments the footprint isn't that large. I did notice that the booths have extremely high separators so essentially the booth is very private. It's so private in fact that you can't see the staff and I found myself having to get up and walk around to get the attention of the staff to both order and pay. The familiar water bottle with the blue flip top was given and while they don't have such drinks as hot tea (I was trying to tell my wife this place is more of a bar) they do have choices as far as beer and other non alcohol drinks went. Being that there were 3 adults and 2 children in our party I tried to order as appropriately. The fries order is about 9 bucks but it's a huge basket of hot and crispy fries. As for the chicken while I normally enjoy bone in since we had the kids I decided we'd get boneless all around. We ended up with the boneless large order of green onion and an order of boneless garlic soy. With both orders of chicken they include 4 complimentary sides which are buttered corn (one for each order of chicken) as well a trio tray of cabbage, daikon radish and macaroni. Really, the sides are just that but I feel fries are almost needed to accompany the chicken but I really wish they had some sort of rice instead but sadly they don't seem to have that. The chicken however is really good. Boneless = all dark meat which is fine by me because it's juicy and tasty and not dry. The drizzled sauce on the green onion plate was a hint of sweet and the shaved onions really give a good taste and texture to go with it. The garlic soy also are a bit sweet and savory. I figured I'd try to stay away from anything too spicy for the kids and these two choices were both good and well received. Overall it may be a bar atmosphere but if it's not as packed it's not as noisy and it's more family friendly than some places that are considered bar type establishments. Kids like fried chicken too, I mean who doesn't right?

Sad to say that this restaurant is a little bit underrated. K-Pocha which is another location who offers KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN has a great contender now. So glad we came across this restaurant. Their FRIED CHICKENS are amazing!!! We tried 3 different kinds so far... And I would rate it as... 3rd - Green onion chicken 2nd - Soy garlic chicken 1st - CRISPY FRIED CHICKEN !!!!! Always made fresh to order. Comes with sizzling corn, and 3 extra sides which are refillable (coleslaw, salad, pickled cabbage) Dont be fooled tho!!! Small portion of an order could already feed at least 2-3people. So make sure you think twice before ordering that large portion. Usually, small (half chicken) costs $18.99-$19.99 per order. And a large (whole chicken) usually costs around $30-$31/order. Tip: They dont sell rice here. So for all of my Asian friends there!!! Dont come in with expectations.

2nd time trying out this location, the lady is very nice n friendly. Love their chicken, crispy outside and juicy inside, especially the boneless chicken, love it. Gonna try more other favour.

Light, tasty and not greasy at all. Perfect Korean fried chicken, especially when boneless! Big servings too, that's a small in the picture. For $19 it's a great value. The side dishes are not so great, but the corn is very good. We'll be back!

TLDR: YUM! Who doesn't love fried chicken? My friends and I came here on a Sunday evening around 7PM and were seated right away. It's a small restaurant with maybe 3 large tables (seating 6-8 person/table), and maybe 6 smaller tables (2 person/table). For the four of us, we ordered the full green onion boneless chicken combo, which comes with your choice of soju (grapefruit, citrus, yogurt) or four beers - we got the yogurt soju. We also got the garlic butter fries and spicy bbq chicken with cheese on top. Comes with complementary butter corn, pickled radish, coleslaw, Korean coleslaw. Off the bat, the fried chicken is delicious, made fresh when ordered, yum! Unlike most places, you actually find pieces of chicken under the batter! It was delicious! Garlic butter fries... if you don't like sweet and savoury, this might not be for you. It was more like a sweet dish than what you would expect as garlic fries :P Spicy bbq chicken with cheese, comes out piping hot! It isn't actually that spicy (coming from someone who doesn't eat spicy things), it was good, but the portion is a lot smaller than we thought. Anyways, their fried chicken is delicious, so try it out :)

Sweet. Cooksville is beginning to turn into your next Korea town! Super happy that The Fry opened a store up in Sauga - now I don't need to trek down to North York to try. I've been meaning to try this place for a while (not sure exactly when this opened up). I came by on a Monday evening around 6pm with a party of 4. There's prob about 10 total tables? and 2 booths which we were seated at. The shop isn't that big it's pretty small. Actually the size is a little smaller than kpocha in terms of seating. We browsed the online menu before so we knew what we wanted to eat. We ordered the L boneless green onion fried chicken. S secret savoury sauce. Spicy rice cakes + cheese (+$2). Few minutes after we made the order, the waitress came out with sweet cheese that was sizzzzzlinngg hot and a long appetizer dish with radishes, salad and coleslaw. The corn was the best! Just be careful and let it chill a bit cause it burnt my friends tongue LOL. The spicy rice cakes came out first and this was good! Nothing too amazing, they tastes similar to Kpocha and Mymy chicken but good $ for it's portion. We added cheese to it to soften the spice and it wasn't spicy to me. Just good enough and my company enjoyed this. I wanted to add noodles only if it was glass noodles but waitress said it's udon only so only opted for cheese. The only thing I didn't like that much was the fish cakes.. smelt and tasted a bit toooo seafoody so I only had a few pieces. Next the S secret savoury bone-in fried chicken came. The small is half size. Still preetty big in portions. It tasted like a sweet semi spicy sauce. I'm not a fan of super saucy fried chicken so this was only ok to me. Finally, the L boneless green onion fried chicken came and this was huge. This was good! The wasabi sauce wasn't that overpowering and it didn't bother me. BUT I personally find the green onion fc tastes better elsewhere. Service was good. Just need to get up if you wanted to get someones attention as the booth backs are so high, you can't see them if you don't stand out of it. Regardless, I would come back!

    Special Half and Half Chicken

Ordered through UberEats, Taste : spicy and sweet! If you can't handle spice, better to get the usual one (fried chicken in sauce) Portion : Enough for 3 or 4 people depending on your appetite Price : $32.99 What I got : Special Half and Half chicken (in spicy sauce and in sauce)

If you want fried chicken in Mississauga this is new places where to come. Nice cool Decor inside. Admittedly I had to ask for a spoon as it's hard to eat the corn with chopsticks. Overall the side dishes where ho-hum but the fried chicken is amazing. Comes out steaming hot. Special kudos as I washrooms was so beautiful and clean.

Box of chicken that we ordered. It was full of chicken. Should have taken a before photo

My wife has been eyeing this place since it opened. I finally gave into it. She picked the half and half chicken (half original and half secret savory sauce) with a side of cheese fries(fries with pretty much nacho cheese sauce and bacon bits). I would give this place a 4/5. Service is great and quick when you order on the phone, food is really good and they give you a free pop. Fries were ok , need more nacho cheese sauce and more bacon bits. Overall chicken is very well cooked, the secret savory sauce chicken is literally worth getting your hands dirty and with the spicy sauce ordered on the side is the best dipping sauce.

Spicy ricecake with bbq chicken & ricecake soup

Went with with a group of friends Tuesday night and it was a good experience overall. Service was quick and our waitress was very sweet and helpful. Extra Crispy Chicken - would recommend this!! It has extra batter which was light and crispy, and super juicy on the inside. Half & half chicken - this includes their original and spicy chicken. It was nice to have a variety and definitely is big enough to share between 3-4 people. Their spicy sauce is like a tangy sweet and spicy. The original was good too, but I prefer the extra crispy one more. Garlic butter fries - the fries itself is nice and crispy but we didn't like the garlic butter shake on. It was very sweet. Fish cake soup - the broth was flavorful and was nice to have on a cold night. Some of the fish cake slices looked whiter or closer to being transparent and it made me wonder how long they've had it sitting around cooked, because it was pretty soggy. Fish balls were good, and I liked that there was udon in it. This has chili flakes in it so it was a little spicy. Spicy rice cake & bbq chicken - rice cake had a nice chewy texture, but I think we didn't enjoy this dish as much because the sauce was on the sweeter side. It is spicy though. They were generous with the chicken, as they were large slices. We'll definitely be coming back since it's local and has great fried chicken!!

Walking in, we were greeted with a smile. The interior of the restaurant was spacious with a private feel since they had areas sectioned off from one another. We ordered the Japchae (5/5), Boneless Yangnyum Galbi (4/5), Pork Belly (4/5). Japchae was delicious with a hint of smokey flavour to it. The noodles were chewy and complemented well with the savoury flavours of bulgogi. The vegetables added a nice crunch to every bite. The mushrooms added a chewy and fun texture to the dish. Boneless Yangnyum Galbi was so tender. Its marinade was on the sweet side which we weren't really a fan of but we still enjoyed the dish. Pork Belly was also tender. It was thinly sliced which was quite a let down since we typically prefer pork belly sliced a bit thicker. The BBQ we ordered came with two bowls of rice and lettuce (non-refillable), ssamjang and sesame oil with black pepper and salt for dipping, and some side dishes that were refillable: kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers and sweet potato. The overall quality of the ingredients, especially the meats, were great. It was pretty telling how much the cooks enjoyed prepping and cooking the dishes. This place is on the pricier side which is reasonable for the quality of their food. The portions are also reasonable for their price-points. I'd come back on a special occasion and/or when I'm craving japchae. The servers we had were attentive, checking in every so often to clear our dishes and change our grills.

Ambiance is casual, interior is clean, and service is fast and attentive. We ordered a couple of dishes and they all came out relatively quickly. There were lots of vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Steamed Vegetable Dumplings, Vegetables Bibimbap, Mushrooms Bibimbap, Vegetables Udon, Vegetables Fried Rice, Kimchi Pancake, Soondubu-jjigae (Soft Tofu Stew) in different variations, and more. The menu was pretty extensive, covering the most typical Korean dishes from the stews and grilled items, to a few Korean-Chinese dishes (such as Jajangmyeon) and everything in between. Steamed Vegetables Dumplings were quite small individually, but came in a sizeable portion. I liked the green onion garnish. Taste-wise, they were alright. Vegetables Bibimbap was excellent - good amount of mixed vegetables (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, carrot strips, lettuce, bean sprouts) and the fried egg was perfectly crispy on the outer edges, with a still gooey and runny yolk. Grilled Croaker was also decent. It had a lot of small bones as it was a whole fish. It came served with purple rice, and we chose to add on extra lettuce. Seafood Knife Cut Noodles came in a big portion - with lots of slippery, thick udon noodles, pieces of seafood (mussels, clams, squid, shrimps, octopus), and a little big of vegetables (zucchini, carrot, onion). They came in a nice seafood-infused broth - perfect for a cold winter day. I'd come again for the variety of menu items they offer (especially the wide selection of vegetarian options), satisfying tastes, and great & efficient service.

It arrived fairly quickly after I ordered it and obviously I had to mix all the components together along with a small dish of the included gochujang. And yeah, it totally hit the spot. All the components were way above average and while I could've used a little more spice, I managed to inhale the whole thing in what had to be record time. An unexpected star of the meal was the side of kimchi that came with this set which was so fresh, crunchy and refreshing. Overall, we loved getting to sample a variety of items from their set meals and would definitely come back for some comforting Korean food.

I think I go back here time and again because this place fills a void in the types of restaurants available in the city. I also had the pollack soup for the first time (number 7 on the menu) and thought it was both fishy and spicy, which I really liked. I'll often order the bibimbap or some other similar rice and meat option and find myself with way too much rice and not enough meat.

Rice cake was okay although we found no fish cake in our plate. This was my second try for cold noodles here, the first time it was way too sour with vinegar and we sent it back, they said they could water it down. This time I ordered it again and still way too much vinegar and the broth wasn't chilled enough (wouldn't recommend).

It was okay for us because they served it with rice and some complimentary kimchi and it was quite filling. I ordered the seafood soup. I loved their soup as it was so flavorful. They also served a fish. Surprisingly, there weren't many bones. Additionally, we got the grilled mackerel, which we both loved. It only cost $5. The grilling and seasoning were perfect, and it paired well with the sour sauce.
