First time visiting this The Fry location, I remember this location many years ago as a Chinese food takeout location back in my younger years. Nice renovations and what they've done to the place. We had a dine in dinner meal here tonight and ordered Combo 2 which consists of selecting either bone in or boneless chicken and the option to select two different flavours. As well as one Rose Ricecake. We also ordered a side of French fries and onion rings to go with our meal. I particularly liked how each table had its own tablet device to place your order. This allowed me time to view the menu items which had pictures of each item and customization options.

Came for dinner on a Sunday night and it was not very busy inside. There were lots of take out orders. The door opens right into the restaurant so every time the door opens, it made sitting at the table very cold so had to keep our coats on while eating. You order through a tablet at the table so it was very easy. We ordered the combo which was half and half with up to 2 flavours of fried chicken to select and type of fries to select. We chose bone in soy garlic chicken and the galbi (add$1). For the fries, we chose the garlic butter fries (add $1). It also came with sides of pickled radish, corn and salad. The garlic butter fries were excellent and very tasty. The soy garlic chicken was good and fried perfectly. The galbi fried chicken was sweeter and stickier. Taste was good and the chicken was fried well.

The first two words that come to my mind when craving Korean fried chicken.... The Fry. This chain has grown to several locations and is now in Scarborough. This small restaurant is located in the main intersection of Sheppard Ave East and Birchmount Rd. This restaurant is located in a gas station plaza. There is parking in the rear as well as the side. When we entered, there were no customers, so we were seated right away. The decor has nice modern and hip decor. The chairs are upholstered, and the tables are solid laminated wood. The menu is pretty simple food on one side and bar menu on the other. We ordered the following items: 1. Green onion fried chicken bone-in $39.99 2. Crispy calamari $12.99 3. Coors light bottle $5.59 The large fried chicken came with cabbage salad with thousand island dressing, pickled daikon, and sizzling plate of corn. For $39.99, it's enough chicken to feed a family of 4. The crispy calamari was addictive and perfectly fried and not too oily. There's a thai chili dipping sauce to go with the calamari. I would have preferred a garlic aioli dipping sauce. Overall a great meal and plenty of left overs. The service wasn't the greatest and we were the only dine-in customers yet we kind of felt neglected and we had to wave down the server to get us refill of banchan. I would definitely recommend coming back here. Their KFC is juicy and delicious.

Scarborough location is very small, but that doesn't mean it's bad. The waitress is more attentive since it's a smaller restaurant. The chicken is awesome. It's a good place to go if you want to try Korean Fried Chicken. Their portions are half or a full chicken, so be prepared spend. Flavours are classic. Nothing really stood out that's original in my opinion. However I'd still recommend to try The Fry. Rose tteokbokki was good and my favourite. Price = $$

The Fry is a popular chain. This location in particular had a bit of lag time due to the establishment operating only on one server. The food is still good, but I noticed that the quality and how they make the chicken sauces/toppings differ from my visits to different locations. All things considered, the space itself is quite small, so it will definitely feel more cozy in nature. Some of the combos/sides here are lacking in comparison to other locations (ex: Mac and Cheese as a side).

Food is good at this The Fry location. Even though this store is small with not many seats, limited parking space, weirdly located right at a gas station, totally worth it to visit here for their great Korean dishes, I think. Rosé Sauce Rice Cake with Glass Noodle. Interesting texture from the rice cake that matches well with their glass noodle. Combined well with bacon, ham, onion, smoky sausage, and top it up with the nicely made rosé sauce. Sweet, chewy, bouncy, nutmeg, blended with a mild smoky flavor. Serves in a hot pan. Perfecto. A solid 10/10. Half-n-half Korean fried chicken. Not bad. First off, Honey Spicy. Too much heat over the honey sweetness. One star deducted. Next off, The Original Taste. Okay, not bad. Well blended sauce with the chicken. However, the white meat are too dry compare to other typical Korean fried chicken places. Another star deducted. Nice server. $60 for 3 people, tax and tips all inclusive. It is a good deal. Quick and easy Korean meal on a Friday night that never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, run around, and desert you. One star comes back and give us an overall 4 out of 5. Recommended. Try it out next time when you want Korean fried chicken.

The Fry is my favourite Korean fried chicken chain, and it's great that they have this new location in Scarborough! We came on a relatively quiet Wednesday night and were seated quickly! Service was friendly and attentive, there was only one waitress working that night but everything was brought to us quickly and smoothly. We got the special half and half chicken with secret savoury sauce and galbi sauce. I found the chicken at this location even better than the others, the inside/meat was extra juicy/moist while retaining that crispy saucy exterior. We also wanted to order some flavoured soju, but at the time of writing (2022-09-07) they haven't gotten their liquor licence yet. All in all, this is my favourite The Fry location and I look forward to coming back for more delicious food (and hopefully drinks soon too)!

The fry never disappoints ! Decided to try something different this time. Ordered their Green Onion Chicken (Small), Original Crispy Fried Chicken (Small), Cheese Powdered Fries, and Deep Fried Seaweed Rolls. For two people we definitely over ordered ... seating is rather limited.. we waited about 30 minutes for a seat which in my opinion isn't too bad for a weekend. Food didn't take too long either after placing our order which I was very pleased with. My first time trying their Cheese Powder Fries... excuse my language but holy they were addicting !! Overall it was an amazing meal. We know for next time to not order so much .. I highly recommend checking them out . . . My favourite Korean fried chicken spot, it's super crunchy and their rice cakes are also so yummy with some glass noodles!

    Stapler sim in the chicken

Terrible experience on Christmas. I ordered chicken via uber and it took around 1hour and a half. It was okay since I knew that the staff would be very busy today. But the chicken I received is cold and has stapler sim like the picture. I called the staff and they aplogized. But I don't want to order again..

Ordered take out over the phone at 11:10pm (they close at 1am) we went in to pay and told her we got combo 1, she asked me if I wanted to turn it into combo 1?? why wouldn't a normal person want to save $2 just to consider it a "combo" even though we've ordered exactly everything in combo 1 after a 25mins wait, she forgot our fries and ran out to give it to us (which is great but), she got our order wrong and gave us half original and half spicy instead of the garlic soy flavour I ordered. I tried to call them multiple times but they purposely didn't answer my calls. I expect a refund. We ordered half and half with small fries and coke for $45.74 +tip. 10% off for cash

July 21 - I'm so happy that The Fry is very close by. They never disappoint! Only one thing I wish they had was the milky yogurt soju (not sure if that is the right name) but I've only seen it at one location, which was downtown (cries). The cheese powder fries are amazing, definitely will have to go back sometime soon for dinner. I ordered Cheese Powdered Fries and Spicy Rice Cake 5/5.

The broth wasn't very salty but still flavourful and once you let the peppers steep into the broth, they add a lovely spicy kick. Another substantial dish is the steamed pork bo saam ($49.99 for large) where slices of pork belly are kept warm on a hot plate. Diners tuck these soft meat slices into lettuce, Napa cabbage, and turnip with a smear of the savoury bean sauce for a protein packed bite. Our table was split about the haemui pa jeon ($28.99). The size of a medium pizza, it's made for a group. Personally, I found it way too thick and didn't contain enough ingredients to balance out the doughiness of the Korean style pancake. Conversely, my relatives preferred the heft as it contrasted the crispy exterior and soft interior. I guess it depends if you're a thin versus pan crust type of pizza lover. I'm firmly in the Neapolitan camp. I thoroughly enjoyed the crust that develops on the bottom of yachae dolsot bibimbap ($18.99). And the hot stone rice bowl contained a good combination of ingredients to ensure there was plenty of vegetables and beef to go around. De Chou's LA kalbi ($34.99) was rather neutral with very little sauce, so you mostly taste the beef. I personally would have preferred more sauce to help caramelize onto the beef ribs, but the older members of the family appreciated the plainness and liked that it was tender. (3/5) De Chou Korean Restaurant - Lunch Review…read more We stopped by De Chou Korean Restaurant for lunch today since we happened to be nearby. The sign said it opens at 11:30 a.m., and true to their word, the doors opened exactly on time. The restaurant itself is quite large and impressively clean -- that was my first good impression. We originally went in because of the sign outside advertising Korean ginseng chicken soup, but when we asked the server, he told us it's no longer on the menu. A bit disappointing, especially since my wife wasn't feeling well and I thought that soup would've been perfect for her. We ordered two Bulgogi Dolsot Bibimbaps ($21.99 each). The portion was decent, but the flavor was a bit bland and not salty enough for our taste -- overall I'd give it a 6/10. We also tried the Japchae ($13.99). Unfortunately, it was too greasy, a bit slimy, and overcooked -- about a 4/10 for me. They served five small side dishes, which were just average (5/10), and a small cup of noodle soup that was lukewarm and slightly sweet -- not to my liking, as I prefer savory over sweet in Korean food. The total came to $65.51 before tip, and we left a standard 15%. To be fair, by the time we finished lunch, there were quite a few tables filled, so maybe other dishes are better. But based on what we ordered today, the food didn't live up to the price. Would I go again? Probably not.

The noodles were nice and chewy, and it felt like a pretty big portion and definitely worth a try. Soy Sauce Fried Chicken with Rice Cakes (4/5) There were really not that many rice cakes, but the chicken was excellent with a nice crispy outside that's not overly coated in batter. Boiled Pork Belly with Green Onion (4/5) The pork belly was pretty juicy and fell apart nicely, although the strips of meat were thinner so some pieces felt a bit more dry/overcooked than others. The green onion blends well flavour-wise and was not over-powering! Something to note is that this place is definitely understaffed, with only 2 people working the floor. My friends and I had waited a decent amount of time (~15-20min) despite there being empty tables as 4-5 groups of tables left after we arrived, and the tables had been cleared and wiped down and set. We had been at the top of the waitlist, and unfortunately we were heavily discounted that another group that arrived later than us had gotten seated before us and another couple who had already been waiting a while (maybe because they had a larger party?). At the end of the meal, we had to ask for the bill and takeout containers twice because they forgot the first time, and therefore spent 10-15 minutes waiting/trying to get a waiter's attention. Overall, I would say that it was not a terrible experience, but I don't know how I would feel coming back with a small group again

The decor is from the previous store I think called maki momo? The dine in is counter seating. The spicy fish and veggie soup was also different as the fish used I believe it's snakehead where other places usually have that thick cut white fish which is meh. So I really enjoyed it. Definitely don't set the expectation as authentic Korean dishes for these two dishes in terms of taste because it's quite different. The pork bone soup had a lot of garlic in it but something about the soup base gave me sukiyaki flavours. The fish soup was slightly different as well but also can't narrow down what it reminds me off but that one gave some Chinese spin to it.
