What a wonderful inn! The rooms, the ambience, the food, the hosts, all come together for a delightful long weekend experience. We arrived for a Tanglewood concert, happy that Garden Gables is so close to the concert grounds and within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants in Lenox. Some in our party stayed in lovely rooms in the cottages apart from the main house; others were in a very comfy and spacious three-room suite (#12 if you want to know). There are two bedrooms in the suite, one with a queen bed, the other with twins. Both have fine mattresses and lots of quiet AC, and of course everything was spotlessly clean. The suite even has its own private deck with views of the pool - intriguing, no? The only downside: the suite is on the second floor accessed only by a staircase. The grounds are beautiful and include table and chair groupings under shady trees. There are lots of chairs by the pool, and the dining areas include inside and outdoor seating. The breakfast, which comes with the rooms, proved delicious, freshly prepared with a good selection of main dishes (omelets, pancakes, eggs Benedict, etc.) and sides. Everyone is friendly and eager to help, and we thoroughly enjoyed our unhurried time. There are lots of pros here, so what about the cons? Well, we mentioned the stairs. And yes, Tanglewood weekends can get a bit pricey, but that's the same everywhere around Lenox in the summer. Garden Gables is definitely worth it, in our view. read more

My husband and I recently stayed at the Garden Gables. We stayed in one of the cottages on the property. The room was lovely and quite large. We had a little difficulty with the television but Victoria immediately rectified the issue. The Inn is lovely and charming. For breakfast you have a choice of approximately 5 entrees. We tried 3 out of the 5 and they were delicious. Our fresh squeezed orange juice was wonderful! We hope to visit again in the spring. I highly recommend the Garden Gables Inn. It is within walking distance to the charming town of Lenox which has a variety of restaurants and bars. It is also very close to Kennedy Park where we were able to rent snow shoes and do some snowshoing. It was a wonderful stay! Thanks for a memorable vacation. Nina and Bob read more

Wonderful B & B in the heart of town, allowing it's guests to be able to walk into town in minutes. The Inn, grounds and pool are impeccably maintained. The entire staff went out of their way to be gracious and helpful. Another fabulous plus is it's only 1 mile to Tanglewood!! We are very much looking forward to our next visit read more

We had a great time here. Cozy rooms (despite their size), complete with fireplaces. We weren't in the main house, so the peace and quiet was almost palpable. We took full advantage of the mingling hour (sherry and munchies) as well as the home-made snacks (which were delicious) in the pantry, and were surprised when no one else was there (though there didn't seem to be a lot of other guests). The breakfasts are delicious and filling (and I'm not a breakfast person), and the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. I definitely plan on going back, though I'm not sure if I'd rather go back in the summer or winter. read more

The inn is attractive and well-situated in the heart of historic Lenox. We were quite disappointed, though, in the way the staff reacted to our needs. When we expressed a complaint, the reaction was negative and defensive and never addressed. As there was only one other couple there, there was no reason for this to have occurred. Great Inn, Perfectly Managed in an Ideal Location Our first trip to Lenox was made all the better by choosing to stay at the Garden Gables. The staff make it very clear that they want everything during your stay to be perfect. They checked with us frequently to make sure everything met our needs. We stay in B&B's frequently so we have a frame of reference when we say that this was an exceptional experience - we have never experienced this level of consideration before. And then there is the Inn itself - it has all of the comfort and charm that you could wish for in a colonial era Inn. There are a number of common areas to sit, read, play board games, sample sherry or even find a snack. Our room was spacious, well lit with very comfortable bedding. We enjoy selecting a location that is within walking distance to dining so the Garden Gables gets bonus points on that aspect too. It is located in a short walk on level ground to a number of great restaurants. The staff was able to make accurate recommendations based on the kind of dining we wanted. And we were so impressed with the restaurants. We tried 4 restaurants during our stay and every dining experience was great. read more

Bad sign when you are paying over $400 a night and they tell you when you arrive the key will be under the door. Had to schlep bags up a creaky staircase, breakfast starts at 7;30 which is very odd and takes forever to get served. Oh yeah, charming and all that BS but give me a hotel any day of the week. Place needs people on duty to serve their customer. I would get better served at a Holiday Inn Express. read more

I spent the weekend in the Berkshires with family and girlfriends and the Garden Gables Inn provided an extremely pleasant stay - I will definitely come back! Denise, the innkeeper, was very accommodating and did everything to make all of us feel welcomed. The ambiance in my suite, sherry room, and dining room was divine. My favorite was having breakfast in their beautiful sunroom - very relaxing. The location is walking distance from the town and breakfast provided was absolutely delicious! Much to my husband's disdain, I love barns. When we met, I had a whole wall full of paintings of barns. Evidence of my dream of a less hectic, more rural life, I suppose. Two moves later, and my barns are a thing of the past -- no place for them in a Mid-Century Modern house, I suppose. Still, the nostalgic affection remains. So when we were planning our trip to the Berkshires with Steve's parents, he went out of his way to find me a hotel that looked something like a barn, and found it in the Green Gables Inn. Okay, so it's a gabled cottage from the 1700s with newer gambrel-roofed additions, painted white, not red, but it still fit my barn image enough to make me smile. In person, the Garden Gables didn't disappoint. It sits on a couple of tree-shrouded acres, making it look rustic, even though it's just down the street from the main part of Lenox. It has cozy sitting rooms inside and comfortable adirondack chairs outside, where you can read a book and enjoy their complimentary lemonade or sherry. The breakfast, included with the price of the room, was fabulous. Your choice of eggs, French toast, or pancakes, plus a large selection of fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, danish, croissants, toast, etc. Basically, we didn't have to buy lunch after the generous breakfast at the inn! Staff was always helpful and friendly, and our two rooms were small (they were both in the original part of the inn) but very comfortable and pretty. And with all the public spaces available to guests, we really only needed to sleep in our room. We loved both Lenox and the Berkshires, and if we return we'll stay at the Garden Gables Inn again! read more

I had to laugh at the review below which said that he would have gotten better service at a Holiday Inn. If you like Holiday Inns, you should stay in one, no matter where you go. If Holiday Inns make you feel a little soul-deadened, and you like charming and unique accommodations, you'll love the Garden Gables Inn. I've stayed in several of the rooms - my favorite is 7, because it's cozy and red, but they're all beautiful, and they manage to be classy and antique-feeling while still being minimalist, clean, and elegant. The breakfast is amazing (my favorite was the autumn-themed omelette with goat cheese, carmelized onions, roasted mushrooms, and sweet potatoes, but there's also a full contintental bar with yogurt, fruit, cheese, homemade granola and baked goods, bagels and lox...!). You get a free wine tasting and apple picking at their sister orchard/winery 15 minutes away. And, the owner is an arts patron and supporter, which is a bonus if you're one of those people, like me, who comes to the Berkshires for the theater and music. So yup, if you're into Holiday Inns, you won't like it. More for the rest of us! read more

Was recommended here from a friend and was looking for a quiet few days in the Berkshires to enjoy the remaining days of winter. Since it was consodered "off peak" I was given a 3rd night free after 2 nights. Have to say I was extremely pleased with my room arrangements and had an outstanding breakfast. My hosts at the Inn were extremely accomadating to me and made for such a pleasant stay. I would def come back again. Had a wonderful experience. read more

We stayed here for 3 days. The rooms were excellent, very comfortable beds. Very clean, with nice decor. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was good. They undercooked my pancake one morning though and the only other problem was they didn't ever replenish the sherry in the sherry room after 2 days and I was looking forward to having Sherry both nights and could not! The landscaping was beautiful and well kept. They pay a lot of attention to detail here. I would come back. read more

Our stay in Lenox was completely serendipitous. With our upcoming wedding in the Berkshires scheduled this spring, my fiancé and I traveled to Lenox to audition caterers for the big event. When our plans to return home that evening were foiled by a snow-storm, we decided to treat ourselves to a relaxing stay at a local inn. With the Garden Gables already in mind to potentially host our wedding party, we thought we would try the inn for the evening and get a first-hand experience to inform our decision. Despite our hasty arrival, the innkeepers made us feel like they had been expecting us for days. Their hospitality and warm manner were quite inviting. Furthermore, the inn is absolutely charming and very well appointed. While it maintains a comfortable cottage-home feel, the Garden Gables also gives a sense of rustic elegance. We have no doubt that the well-to-do would be quite comfortable there. Of particular note was the breakfast service. With a simple yet complete menu, the food is delicious. I highly recommend the blueberry pancakes. In short, we've made up our minds and cannot imagine staying anywhere else this spring. read more
