Came with a bachelorette party. The bride to be ordered a drink. The drink she ordered was not what she got. She took one sip and took it back to the bartender and asked for another. This place had amazing food and a great band! We got cheese burgers and fried shrimp! Beautiful view of the lake.

Once upon a time under previous ownership this was a great bar! Not so much with the current owners. During 2016 Winter Games they were charging $25 cover charge to listen to live music!!! This was out and out gouging of customers, unethical!!! I will never return. There are so many other great bars in Okoboji!! Run while u can!! read more

Great food, great location, easy to get to by boat. The patio, the view is an A plus! The inside part of the restaurant is nice too. It is definitely one of the higher end restaurants from the area, however the price was very reasonable. I was happy with the experience and will definitely come back. read more

We come to Okoboji a lot (my husband's family tradition), and this is our second time coming to The Gardens. We LOVE it here! Started off as good service. The party I was with ordered food and a lot of drinks but they refused to give us another glass of water because they claimed all they had were bottles, even though they had given us a glass previously, and told us it would cost us 2 dollars for anymore water... word to the wise keep your customers hydrated so they cab stay alive on hot days and they'll actually come back. And staff got a little sassy when I asked politely for a glass. read more

One star because it is on the water. Other than that, I wouldn't waste my time. While I could overlook the waitress forgetting to bring the beer chaser with my Bloody Mary, I found the rest of our meal beyond disappointing. I ordered the steak fajitas which arrived with some thawed out unseasoned "steak-um" meat, lots of lettuce, some onion and green peppers. No sour cream, no salsa and it was cold. We had to go to the bar to ask for salt, pepper and ketchup for the limp sweet potato fries. Again went to the bar to request our check (while our former waitress was busy splitting up her tips with another server). Explained our situation to the server at the bar and she was very apologetic and rather than find a manager to handle the food issue, told us to have a good night. All in all, we paid $14 for some sweet potato fries. The server who brought our check did speak to the chef, whose explanation was (oh, well, someone else was cooking and it should have been different). In other words, too bad for you but we have lots of people who don't mind our lack of customer service. Never again.....should have stayed at the Barefoot and had Nachos.... read more

Horrible! Worst experience I ever had going out to eat waited for 45 mins. asked to be served twice and was completely ignored by three different waitresses got my own drinks and menus. Don't have high chairs or booster seats, wasn't a problem, but the complete and utter lack of respect, courteousness, and service was. I am a resident of the area and will never go back EVER even if I was paid. I have eaten at dirt holes that were friendlier then they were. If I could I would give it less then a one star rating. Walked across the street to Yesterdays and had a much better time, may not of had some A+ view but at least I was greeted at the door by someone willing to serve me and a friendly waiter who actually stopped at my table at least once. read more

This place is the worst establishment I have ever visited. Homophobic and racist staff hassle anyone who is a little different. A friend of mine used to work there and said she was harassed on a frequent basis by management. She also told me about the rat problems in the kitchen. I'm talking NYC sized rats, shocked they passed health inspections. Disgusting. The food is not good, and neither is the atmosphere. Sat there waiting for our food for well over 45 minutes and even after it came out it was still wrong for every order/ not even ordered (most food came out colder than they probably were in the freezer before they "cooked" it) and as a worker in a food establishment for the past 6 years I have never seen or ever had worse service than I had last night. I will NEVER be returning to this establishment. Especially after leaving and having an over confident alpha male bouncers call one of the males in our group a "f**king fa**ot" while kicking the legal TWENTY ONE year old patron out just because his style was not cowboy boots and a bit more metro. He then proceeded to tell us that we were only upset because Trump won. Interesting way to get people who come to your establishment every weekend (who spend plentiful amounts of money) to have to be paid to ever step foot back on their poorly made dock ever again. (it is falling apart, planks missing, railings fall down more than they stay up, i have seen people trip over the warped wood and fall one person even falling into the lake, definitely something their insurance agent should look at because it's a liability) What was once a favorite spot to go last summer has been turned into a place I hope doesn't last much longer. read more

This place was better under different ownership last summer it seems like the kitchen staff are managers didn't care a single bit. Bartenders were kind of unfriendly not a welcoming atmosphere. The bouncers also mean mug you everywhere you go. read more

Was some of the worst service we received in the Arnold's Park area. The food was OK, as long as you can get someone to wait on you. It had the same issues as Captains Getaway up the street. These places cater to the regulars and almost seem irritated with incoming tourists. It was bad enough to convince me to book a vacation for my family on a different area of the lake next year. read more

This place is disgusting!! I have literally watched someone throw up on the floor, have a waitress come over with a box of baking soda and throw on it and then sweep it up. This place is filthy....just look down on the stained carpet and dirty pedestals under the tables. We used to enjoy eating there from time to time and once you can get past the smell some of the food is ok, but when we had to wait for our waitress to finish watching the FIFA Worldcup match before she would go back to work, that did it for us. We emailed the manager our concerns and never got a response so we figure they really don't care. read more
