This review is a bit overdue, but I got my haircut at the Garrison a few weeks back with Elliot, the owner, and let's just say, I walked out as a huge fan! I was definitely testing fate, as I was in town to officiate a wedding and couldn't make it to see my regular barber due to other obligations. After a quick search on Yelp, I stumbled upon the Garrison, read all the reviews, and gave them a call to see if they could squeeze me in next day on a holiday weekend in Vegas. Yup, testing fate for sure! From start to finish, Elliot took real care of me. He was thorough about what I was looking for, put me immediately at ease, and we had a nice chat about our lives and experiences. For such a busy city where things are moving so quickly in Sin City, he had a real gift of slowing time (in a cheesy, but good way). As for the haircut itself, 10/10, would go back again if I was ever in town and in need of a cut. I got a ton of compliments at the wedding! read more

I stopped into The Garrison while in Las Vegas and somehow ended up with one of the best haircuts I've had in a long time. Tara was my barber, and yeah... she made it look easy. I travel a lot and have been to every type of barbershops, and most of them charge a premium for a whole lot of attitude and not much else. This place is the opposite. From the second I walked in, everyone was genuinely welcoming, no ego, no nonsense, just good people who clearly know what they're doing. Prices are more than reasonable, especially for the quality. I walked out actually liking my haircut, which feels rare enough to mention. After almost 30 years of coming to Vegas, this is easily one of the better finds I've had. At this point I'm mostly just annoyed I can't bring Tara back to Los Angeles with me. read more

Well, this review is also over due and I really didn't want to..... but, someone reached out to me for a third time from the shop and I guess I will leave a review..... So as I was waiting in line to eat breakfast Nextdoor, I noticed billboard sign outside stating straight razor cuts. I was in town for a surprise party and had a 30 minute wait to eat. Went in asked receptionist if it was possible to slide in and possibly get a shave in 30 minutes? She said that she had an open chair and could get me right in, I agreed and was promptly seated for a shave. A man came from the back named Chop, he asked what I needed, I let him know I was looking for a straight razor shave. He got me ready, lathered up and proceeded with the shave, felt a little uncomfortable like the hair was being pulled, I brought it up and he let me know that grey hair are a little thicker. I am not a hairy guy, but had a week of growth. I will add a current picture of a week of growth, as I last shaved 5 days ago and about same timeline. So I sat there and received the shave..... Next thing I know, I was sat up, informed shave was over and he brought me a mirror..... That's when I pointed out about 5 spots where I still had hair near my lip corners, a little above and the part that is referred to as soul patch..... I said it in a joking matter, about how could he miss this, He assured me that he would re cape me and take care of it..... I sat back in chair, he put some shave cream on those spots and started to take care of THOSE spots..... After that he brought out the cold towel, used a little after shave, sat me up, handed me the mirror again..... that's when I looked around lip area, still had a little spot just off the lip of hair, checked side cheeks and neck area..... Needless to say, I found more little patches! Again had to point them out, get re caped, at which point I jokingly again suggested he just lather my face up like we were just starting and I had just walked in. He did lather me up fully and started my shave from zero. I was then cleaned up with cold towel and after shave, handed mirror and I looked, was clean, but still had to go over it after breakfast back at the hotel before the party. Needless to say, I didn't have a good experience. Chop seemed like a good dude, but I did ask my gf to remind me when I want another straight shave, to remind me of this experience and to save my money. So Chop is a good dude and I still left a 20% tip..... but, wasn't happy with the shave experience. Was I expecting too much from a straight razor shave? read more

Chop is always professional and on time. He takes his time to make all his clients feel comfortable and communicates well. He started off by asking me what I want and further elaborated to make sure he understood what I wanted. The cut came out clean. Multiple compliments by people. This was my first time coming here and I'll definitely be back. My old barber charged 1/2 but the cut quality was also probably 1/2. You get what you pay for. Instead of pushing clients out quickly, this place is more meticulous and somewhere you should go if you care about how you look! The fade was probably the crispest I've ever had in my life. A 20 minute cut usually turned into about an hour. 10/10 will be back regularly. read more

Well, first off they called and texted to "Phil" even though I told them my name was "Bill". My previous haircut was like Captain Pike's from Star Trek: Brave New Worlds, but I hadn't cut my hair for a couple of months. I showed "Chop" a picture and asked him to cut it that way again. He barely looked at the picture and then proceeded to massacre my hair, making it look nothing like what I had asked for. There was no part in it, and he just buzzed the sides all the way up instead of leaving it short on the sides with it buzzed underneath that. He didn't ask me about my sideburns and just cut them off when the picture I showed him had longer sideburns. I felt like it would do no good to complain, since the hair was gone and couldn't be restored. I paid and left. When I got home my wife told me my haircut looked awful, especially in the back. The vibe of the place is nice, but I went to them because they do "custom cuts" and I was willing to pay for one. I feel cheated and will not go back there again. read more

When you walk in you will know what I'm talking about. Berto was my barber and I have a semi hard haircut and he delivered. I'm very happy with my haircut. The Garrison is such a nice barber shop and the best in Vegas in my opinion. Its always clean, has a nice bar in the center you can sit at and have a drink, work, watch tv or read. Lots of plants everywhere, which is my thing and gives the shop a more comfy, home-like chill vibe. My barber is Tara and she has been cutting my hair for a few years now. And man, its very hard to find a Barber that cuts my hair the way I like and can do a good job. She is experienced, consistent, usually on time (can't help the late customers) and if she is behind I am notified. Much appreciated as I live far from the shop. I don't have much hair to work with but I wanted to do something different.
