When I asked questions about my original issue, and why it was not on my treatment plan, I was first told they had no idea what I was talking about. Next I was told would need to see the surgeon, but I needed to sign the pricing list before they would schedule me to see the surgeon. When I again asked, why my original issue was ignored and not addressed on the pricing list, I was accused of "refusing" to sign the pricing list. This office only cares about how much money they can fleece from a patient! Run as fast as you can from this corporate pig that only cares about their bottom dollar and not their patients. I fortunately was able to see a family owned dentistry who immediately addressed my urgent issue, with a plan to address my other problems. Update- Julia- Sorry you wasted your time in even responding! I wouldn't waste another second of my time calling you! Nothing you can say or do would ever change my mind! I will certainly take the time to make sure the general public is not scammed by my perception of this office's deceptive business practices and tactics! Since I am in my 30s, knowing that titanium implants is highly biocompatible with great durability, but I was not sure with all the possible long term effects of metals in the body I really wanted something that is more natural and holistic. I was elated when I learned that Zirconia implants that had been available in Europe and Japan for quite some time were finally approved by FDA a few years ago with a handful of doctors offering them in the US. I came across Dr. DiGiallorenzo's website during my research online for metal free implants. Dr. DiGiallorenzo's office deals with lots of out of town patients, but since my husband and I live in the Chicago area with 3 young children, I was not planning on taking a trip out of town for the procedure. I contacted the company Z-Systems for a list of doctors providing them in the US, only one holistic dentist was available in the Chicago area. After the consultation I knew I wanted a dental implant specialist to perform my procedure. I then asked Z-Systems for the doctors who had the most experience working with zirconia implants, and Dr. David DiGiallorenzo's name came right on top of the list as the first office in the US offering them. I soon emailed Dr. D and was so surprised when I got a reply from the doctor himself an hour later and a call to speak to him directly. After contacting and seeing various dental professionals, it was so refreshing to be able speak to a doctor who is willing to take time to answer my questions and concerns without requesting an in office consultation with required paid checkup and x-rays first. After several emails addressing my concerns, Dr. D looked at my x-rays and CT-Scans that I had taken at other dentists' offices, he provided me a treatment plan with the cost that is comparable to the cost from local dentists, and he told me that I did not need the sinus lift procedure the other oral surgeon had requested for. I knew then I had found the right place for getting my metal free implants. We took the trip to Collegeville a couple weeks later at end of March 2010, Dr. D's staff picked me up at the hotel in the morning. Having been to many dental professionals' offices prior, I was blown away by the warm welcoming and the attentiveness of Dr. D and his staff. I was given the options of local or general anesthesia and I am so glad that I opted for the local with Novocain. I was alert during the procedure and there was relaxing tranquil music playing in the background. Most surprisingly, a massage therapist was with me the whole time providing me massages and reflexology to help ease any tensions. Dr. D was very gentle and repeatedly checked to see I was doing OK, he also pointed out the steps as the procedure progressed. There were hardly any discomfort nor bloody scene like I had read about in other people's dental implant experiences. I was so relaxed throughout the procedure and before I knew it, all four implants were in and I was ready to go. When my husband came he was surprised that I did not look like I just had a surgical procedure! We were driving to Atlantic City that afternoon and my husband thought he would have to lay me down on the hotel bed once we got there but instead we took the kids on the board walk for a couple of hours and had a nice dinner (fluid diet for me). Dr. D gave me a call the second day morning to check on me as well. I had expected to stay in the hotel recovering but I only needed the pain relief for the first 24 hours, and there were very minimum bleeding and swellings. I enjoyed the rest of the trip with my family at the Jersey shores. It's been 2 months since I came home with my implants, and the recovery had been a breeze comparing to the recovery I had when my teeth were extracted. I had a regular check up at my dentist's office last week and showed off my metal free implants - the office also has an oral surgeon on staff and they do lots of titanium implants. My dentist took a full set of x-rays and thought my implants look great and the integration was doing really good. He also commented that Dr. D did a great job. Let's face it, I haven't met one person in life who says they looked forward to going to the dentist. But nervously I made the appointment on a Monday begging for them to please squeeze me in asap to remove the tooth. They very kindly were able to get me an appointment the very next day with Dr. Sheeran. My tooth was infected, so they had to give me Anesthesia to remove the tooth. I have to say, I can not thank Dr. Sheeran enough for what he did. The man is no less than a miracle worker! He is very kind, courteous, with excellent bedside manner. I felt completely at ease from the minute I met him until the time the removal was done. Not only that, but he inserted the greatest IV I've ever had in my life! I Could barely even feel a pinch. We joked a little, talked about golf, and next thing you know what felt like five seconds later I'm wide awake and the procedure was complete. Here we are less than 24 hours after the tooth removal, and I have ZERO pain. No bleeding, no discomfort, nothing. Words can't even begin to express how happy I am to have met Dr Sheeran and have him work on me. Believe me when I tell you, the man is extremely gifted at what he does. I used to know the staff, Dr Silva remembered me, and I felt safe and cared for. None of that is true now. CHARACTER * I was her patient since before marriage, and we were pregnant at the same time! But she stopped using my nickname and reverted to my formal name despite my request. * She repeats the same story every visit about someone taking her photo at the airport due to a hair color similarity. This is very concerning as I've only seen this behavior with people with degenerative mental disease. It makes me very uncomfortable that she has told me this story at least 20 times & she tells it like the first time, every time. * She exaggerates minor issues into expensive treatments. Friends and colleagues who sought second opinions found her assessments inflated. She has a reputation for price gouging. STAFF * Constant turnover. Every visit has new staff, making continuity impossible. * They forget appointment purposes. I was once asked if I was there for post-op during an Invisalign check. * Scheduler claimed I hadn't had a cleaning in 1.5 years, which was incorrect (I'm there every 6 months). Where did those records go? * Over-reliance on technology. A hygienist claimed I was missing a tooth based on a scan, despite it being visibly present. * Calling the office is difficult; you reach machines or off-site services. INVISALIGN * Dr Silva pushed Invisalign for years. I paid a $1,200 deposit but canceled due to finances. The office claimed it was irreversible, but Invisalign called the office to make them refund me. * The front desk refunded me twice by mistake, requiring me to correct it. * I eventually got Invisalign with new insurance. It was supposed to be 18 weeks but turned into 18 months due to staff turnover and poor management. * Multiple Invisalign staff gave conflicting advice. One misread tray numbers and tried to have me skip 3 weeks of trays. I had to leave & come back with my calendar to prove that she was wrong. She still doubted me but went back to look & found the 3 weeks of "missing" trays right in the box. * Initially, they insisted on regular visits, then abruptly gave me all trays at once (the Invisalign person had quit). * At the end of 18 weeks my bite was misaligned. Dr Silva took cell phone photos and texted them to a friend orthodontist. I asked the Invisalign employee how Dr Silva did not foresee this outcome, & she said "I wish I knew" & that Dr Silva is "just the dentist who orders the trays" & doesn't do anything else. She didn't even know how to take the scan of my mouth. * I got a 2nd opinion & that orthodontist revealed: 1) Dr Silva's awards are for sales, not quality. 2) There are several tier options of Invisalign & I was only offered the most expensive one 3) A real orthodontist would have seen the scan & known that by the end, my bite would be wrong. Manual tweaking/change is required & you can't just let the computer do all the work. * I asked Dr Silva to cover the cost of seeing a new orthodontist. Her defense was "no one is perfect"; if I'm paying thousands of dollars for treatment I do expect perfection. She offered her friend's help instead. * I had to visit her friend's office after hours for a scan. Got 15 more weeks of trays, then 12 more. 18 weeks became 18 MONTHS. Still no retainers 4 weeks after button removal (my new dentist orders retainers immediately to prevent shifting). * At my final appointment, staff forgot the purpose of my visit. Dr Silva was in a meeting and only polished two teeth despite promising full polishing. I'll have my new dentist finish it. Save yourself time, money, sanity, and the safety of your teeth. DO NOT USE this practice.
