I wish I would never have called this company!! I have two bathroom sinks with old plumbing and old faucets that all need to be replaced. After I made the inital call, they had a cancellation later that day, Wow was I happy on the fast service. Afterall my leaky faucet was now a continual stream of water and I had a bucket full of water in the sink. Ryan was friendly and respectful and explained what should be done, I noticed when it came to how much this was all going to cost, this was avoided for well after the end of the presentation. Home inspection, furnace inspection, water tank review all came into the conversation prior. All I want to do, is get my dripping stream to stop. Well after all of this I finally get the quote, to my surprise, it was almost 5000.00 to replace two sinks, two faucets, and two sets of pipes!! WHAT?????? Good thing I was leaning against the wall or I would have fallen over. Now, since my pipes were coroded we talked about just repairing the p trap and drain.. water was shut off, and my bill was a little over 700.00, including the service call fee. This is still too much money to pay. It was discussed I buy the sinks and faucets and they will come out again to install and replace pipes on the other remaining sink, but I will need to pay another service call fee!!! WHY??? Now the measurements I was given, I cannot find a sink anywhere for the size I was given, they are regular oval bathroom sinks!!! Why are mine such an odd size?? Its off by an inch and some sinks its off by 1/2 inch,, I dont get it.. Anyway,, back to the drawing board for me,, I cant find a proper sink, according to their measurments. I need to pay for another service call fee, plus I cant afford the quote of over 2000.00, I was given to install two sinks, two faucets, that I have to supply, and plumbing for the remainging sink!! Now Im back to square one, and in search for a plumbing company who will not price gouge me, and give me the service that I need done. Im sitting here, 700.00+ out of pocket and still no further ahead of my problem. Not to mention, I cant find a sink anywhere to replace , with the measurements I was given!!! The service is excellent. The guy who came to visit our home made sure to roll out a carpet for his tools, take off his shoes, and helped us clean up the mess from our leaky hot water tank. They also came to our home within an hour of calling and they were the only company that were available to come within 4-6 hours. For emergency services, I would recommend. The reason I didn't give a higher rating is because of the cost. They do charge a lot more than other companies for a tank and installation. A family member recently replaced their hot water tank and it was considerably less than the amount we paid. But with the leak and water in our basement, this was a job that we didn't want to wait on and wanted a new tank right away. The installer had one in his truck so it was a matter of about 4 hours to get the old one removed, new one installed and basement dried up. read more

$500.00 to install one kitchen faucet. The clearly new plumber took 3 hours to install the faucet and complained the entire time about his cat allergies. He insisted on doing a home inspection despite him being told no and advised we needed a new furnace. We did not need a new furnace because our furnace in brand new. A few days later we received a call from the city that someone complained about our faulty furnace and they have to send an inspector to our home. The inspector just left and, wow, nothing wrong with our furnace. So unless you want to spend $500, have someone whine in your home for 3 hours and then rat on you to the city when you are not willing to buy a new furnace, please choose one of many other plumbers in Edmonton. read more

The service was very good and they obviously know what they are doing. My problem was the very high price. They charged THREE TIMES what another provider was going to charge and refused to budge. I had waterstains in the ceiling of a room directly below a second floor bathtub unit. Dave Stewart came out for the $100 flat fee, and I pretty well had to suggest all the problem areas I could think of. He ended up saying it may be the 5 year old toilet, and lifting it alone was $500 so may as well buy a new one , another $400. I was sure that stains directly below tub below were problem so declined. He then silconed the toilet bottom. Wrote bill for $200 as he said he had to charge me $100 for call and had to charge something for an assessment!! PS he doesn't carry a water meter to check for leaks and he is a plumber! Turns the problem is a corroded bathtub drain, and that assessment from DKI Canada was thorough , professional and free. read more

I needed a kitchen faucet that was leaking in my rental while I was away. O-ring deteriorated over time. $69 for them to attend fine. Cost is not hourly but on the type of job, fine... what was NOT fine was that the cheapest faucet they offer is $500!!! That is ridiculous. And it was a faucet that didn't have a sprayer, extendable hose, NOTHING! It swivels and has one lever.. wow... for $500... Ridiculous. You can get something simple at Home Depot for a $100. He gave me the option to buy one myself and drop it off... Not helpful as I was literally driving for vacation. But stuck in a rock and a hard place, I had to take the hit. Brutal cost. Used them before... NEVER AGAIN!! Had a Furnace go in my parents place while they were away in the winter and had them come out. The only reason I had them is because it was winter and needed to be done soon and they were the first to confirm they could come out. It was a small problem with a wire in the furnace. They were so horrible we had to have ATCO come out themselves to repair their repair. They charged $1200 for what should have been less than $100. I could have paid some one to drive out from Lamont AB and pay them mileage and it would have been cheaper. They JURY RIGGED a part that should never have been installed and could have caused a FIRE! They DOUBLE CHARGED and over charged for their service. The OWNER lied to us. Claiming he was the one who came out and did the work himself. Wondering why he would have driven from CALGARY to EDMONTON for a Furnace. The guys they sent left the house a mess. It took us a few weeks to finally get a refund from them. We had to threaten legal action as we had the JURY RIGGED part in hand and a documents from ATCO confirming all the problems with the job they did. They did not finally give a refund until the words were spoken "I am old and retired and have nothing but time to talk to every media outlet and person who wants to listen to me." TL:DR - Way too expensive. In an emergency, call a smaller outfit with an hourly rate. I called these guys for one of our tenants in an emergency, and I must've got one of the most expensive services out there. They sell 'packages' after they assess the job, which means that for a clogged drain, your options are a 'clear' package for $370ish (not including the $69.95 dispatch fee), and some other deluxe package that includes some biocide you never knew you needed, even more warranty, and puts you upwards of $550. Again, that's to snake out a clogged drain. That's it. It's basically an extended warranty sucker deal that nobody would agree to, if given the chance. So, for $471 dollars, they cleared the drain and said that they'd come back and fix it for free if it clogged again in 67 days. Which, of course, it won't. read more

googled roto rooter but somehow Gentlemen Pluming came up. Called them in order to help my neighbour. His Kitchen sink was plugged in the basement and he is an elderly gentlemen. The receptionist advised me that they charge a 70.00 fee for showing up and then the tec will provide an estimate to do the work. I asked if they have an hourly fee and she avoided that question and repeated that the tec would give him a price. I told her I needed a ball park price. I asked if the tec just looks at the customer and figures the most he can get out of him? They showed up at 6;45 pm the next day and the neighbour called me over. I asked the guy how much it was going to cost twice but he ignored that. There is a 20 ft 2" drain line that has to be cleared. That is it. He said they don't charge based on how long it will take but rather by the job. He looked in his book said for kitchen sink drain, the package starts at 457.00. I told him I don't want to hear all the bullshit. I just want the pipe cleared. He continued talking about the fact they warrantee the work etc. I told him to take his slippers and his briefcase and leave immediately. His concern was not for my neighbour but rather for how much money he could get out of the job if he was going to do it. i understand that everyone has to make a living but the way these guys approach customers, it is pure and plain conning people out of as much money as they can read more

Never again ! The plumber just left, with 567 dollars in his pocket, for fixing a leak. Most of the expense comes from taking time to think, to evaluate, an obvious leak source, easily accessible. After close to an hour he said that the pipes in our house (PVC SCH40) are not standard and might not be available to purchase. Our house was built in 1993, so it came as a surprise, especially since there are more houses around with similar building dates. If he could not find a supplier for these pipes, the plumber said he would have to replace all the piping in our house, to be up to code. He eventually did find a suppler. With his trainee, he drove away and came back with the pipes. Only a few inches length were required, they kept the rest. The total cost: 567 dollars. After the shock, in retrospect, with 1 minute Goggle search using the keywords "Edmonton PVC SCH40", I found myself that it is readily available at Lowes (Rona): https://www.rona.ca/en/plumbing/fittings-and-pipes/pvc-sch40-and-sch80 Finally, I tried to post my review directly on their website but to no avail. Unequivocally, the worst experience with any in home service I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. If a sewage backup wasn't bad enough, the first plumber they sent charged me $1200 up front, before he would start work. He then informed me that he couldn't do the job. They also don't deal with sewage and I needed to hire a second company to clean up the sewage before he could do the work; not an unreasonable request. Sewage gets cleaned up, they send two guys next time, but they tried to charge me again for the job, before they will start work. 4 or so hours with their accounting department to resolve that mess. Finally get that figured out, but the plumbers moved onto another job so we had to re-book; all the while I have no running water, using the washroom at various gas station and sleeping in my car over a long weekend as their after hours emergency plumbing servies are laughable. In the end I called a real plumber, who came out with all the equipment the first time and qualified plumbers, did the whole job for $700. I would strongly suggest nobody hire this company, and be extremely hesitant on any company that charges prior to completion. Overall absolute nightmare dealing with Gentleman Plumbers. read more

Beware, GP charges BOTH a dispatch charge ($70) AND an inspection charge ($100). So, therefore, you're charged $170 before they even give you a quotation. When they do give the quotation, it is a high one! On the bright side, the plumber who arrived was polite and presentable. So I woke up last night made my way to the kitchen to get some water discovered that I had no hot water in the kitchen. Check the other faucets I have hot water ok cool not an emergency. Got up @ 7 am called in while on hold a pop up chat came upon the websit . Spoke to some CSR named Rona she said someone would call me back to schedule a service call. I asked if there was hope of having a service call today or should I go to work Rona assured me I would be called today. Within 10 min some dude called me to say he was calling to get me a service call. He asked me to hold while he got someone on the line to help me. Odd as he called me but OK. After 5 min he came back to say call volumes were super high and someone would call me back. AGAIN I asked if there was a hope in hell of having a service call today or should I go to work again I was told it would happen today. Fast forward to about 2 pm no calls so I hopped onto the online chat. The CSR said she had record of my earlier chat advised her I stayed home and had not heard from anyone she assured me someone would get back to me. We started to take our plumbing apart ourselves around 6pm. Decided to replace some valves headed to Lowes. While I was checking out at Lowes someone from the company calls me. Told her too late started trying to fix it myself and even if I couldn't fix it I would be calling a different company because when I asked TWICE if I would get service today and if should stay home, TWICE I was told I would get service today. I even said to the guy who called me that I understood that my situation wasn't an emergency so to be honest with me if I wasn't going to get a service call until tomorrow I would have went to work and took tomorrow off. NOPE was told it would be all good for today. Not impressed. I WASTED a personal day when I didn't have to. Made my coworkers pick up my slack when they didn't have to. read more

Had a technician come out to inspect some unusual furnace behaviour and flashing codes. An hour later he told me that the board was shot and multiple other very expensive parts were also not working. He mentioned that the furnace was bypassing safety features and suggested keeping it turned off. At the time of the inspection I was home alone with my 4 month old and doing the best I could to understand the problem and possible solutions. The next thing I knew he was suggesting I buy an all together new furnace (the one I currently have is 12 years old). I was quite shocked at the diagnosis and a little scared for the safety of my family. The technician mentioned he could get someone out to discuss our options further, which I later found out was a furnace sales person. My husband and I were not quite ready to dish out $6500 on the spot so we told them we would take the night to think about our options. We decided to get a second opinion on the diagnoses the next day. To make a long story a little shorter, there was a visibly broken piece on the outside of the furnace that this technician pointed out right away (within 2 min of looking at the furnace). He fixed it within an hour and the furnace was good as new. There were no board issues, no expensive parts to purchase, and certainly no mention of a new furnace being needed. Needless to say, I feel a combination of being taken advantage of as well as a lack of due diligence and expertise on the gentlemen's plumbers part. If you hire the gentlemen plumbers, I would be ready to dish out some more $$ for a second opinion on whatever diagnosis they give you. read more

This company was quick to book an appointment for the next day (at one of my rental properties) but there was a lot of confusion around appointment confirmation. I received conflicting information through multiple texts, emails and phone calls which was both annoying and frustrating. Kyle was very professional when he came out to do the repair. My issue is the cost! This company is extremely high priced! Yes, everything is transparent but I know I overpaid for the work done. My residence needs a new furnace and based upon the rough quote I was provided, I will be going elsewhere. Gentlemen Plumbers quoted $8000-$12,000 for a new furnace. Most other places are $5000-$8000. The value is simply not there with The Gentlemen Plumbers! Paying hundreds and thousands of dollars more (depending upon the scope of the job) for drug tested employees and a 5 year warranty that you most likely will never use is not worth it. This is the 3rd time I've used The Gentlemen Plumbers. 1st time was to replace a blown water tank and while the replacement tank they installed worked OK, I was not satisfied with their work. GPs response was to send a supervisor with their plumber who together installed a new replacement tank at no charge. 2nd time was 3 years later when the replacement tank would no longer stay lit. GPs response was to again replace the tank at no charge. 3rd time was when my 2nd water tank had also blown. Called in the AM on a holiday Monday and they arrived 4 hours later. They did not have access to a new tank because of the holiday, but installed an isolation valve that allowed us to use hot water from the other tank in the meantime. They came back on Wednesday and installed the replacement tank and did an excellent job. I was told what the price would be before they started work that was what they charged me. I will use The Gentlemen Plumbers again as well as recommend them to other. read more

called GP after reading reviews...quoted me $3900.00 to replace defective water tank...this was not a new install everything was in place ... they maybe had to cut and adjust the stack...this was a two hour job at the most...called a plumbing supply store that quoted me 1500.00 for tank I had, so I was being charged 2400.00 to remove and replace tank...absolutely ridiculous...paid there service charge and could not get them out of my house quick enough...very disappointed...way overpriced read more
