For the past five years, ever since I installed Amazon Alexa in most of the rooms of our home, I have wanted to attach a smart thermostat as part of our smart home set-up. We have our lights, various appliances, and other smart home devices already hooked up to Alexa, but I could NEVER get a smart thermostat installed and working properly. I was unsuccessful at installing one myself, my old heating & cooling guys couldn't get one working, and an electrician we hired couldn't get one working. I was told that something was wrong with the configuration in our furnace's wiring, or alternatively, the smart thermostat we purchased was a lemon. I had to settle for running up and down the stairs, flicking the heat controller back and forth between "heat" and "cool" manually, depending on whether I needed the furnace or the central air conditioning. With the constant wild swings in Edmonton's temperature all throughout the Spring, it was a major pain to keep resetting the thermostat manually when the rest of our smart home was so automated. Recently, when our old thermostat started wearing out and malfunctioning, I thought I'd give the installation of a smart thermostat another shot. I carefully researched the reviews, and saw that Trust Home Comfort came highly recommended. They seemed to have a lot of experience in upgrading old-style thermostats to electronic smart home systems. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! My first discussions with Van were great. He understood exactly what we wanted, he sympathised at my frustrations with our previous attempts to convert to a smart thermostat, and he assured me that Trust Home Comfort could solve the problem. He promised to send his best, most experienced installer (Kang). I got an appointment immediately for two days from the day of booking, which was enough time to get the thermostat brand and model he suggested (ecobee), after I asked him for his recommendation. Amazon supplied the thermostat through next-day delivery through ecobee's Amazon store, and the installer showed up the very next day after, on-time-to-the-minute of the booking we made, to install the device. (I should also mention that Trust Home Comfort has a sophisticated computerised appointment booking and billing system, so reminders are sent out via email in a timely way before the appointment, and billing is detailed and easy-to-pay online). To make a long story short, Kang was able to immediately identify the simple wiring problem that hexed us all these years, preventing us from installing a smart thermostat sooner. At one stage years ago, our humidistat control was moved to the furnace room by our old heating and cooling guy, and the wiring of the old humidistat left behind from the old location was confused with one of the power wires needed to power-up a smart thermostat. The correct wire was quickly relocated by Trust Home Comfort's technician, and the smart thermostat was up and running in no time! The old manual thermostat worked because it didn't need external power, but when previous heating companies and electricians tried to hook up a smart thermostat to the (dead) "power wire", it naturally couldn't power-up because the old humidistat wire, although the same colour as the correct external power wire, wasn't powered. Trust Home Comfort figured out what the problem was, and fixed the problem immediately. Their experience and ability to troubleshoot problems quickly proved they were a sound choice to install our new smart thermostat. The billing was detailed, fast and very reasonable. They did exactly what they promised to do, and today the smart thermostat is working EXACTLY as it should. Their technician was experienced, and set everything up exactly as we wanted. What more could I have ask for? I can't recommend Trust Home Comfort enough! Needless to say, they are our new, permanent service provider when it comes to any home heating or cooling solutions. read more

An excellent clean job. On a new furnace install. It was a day and a half job and they were punctual and very professional. Had them install an air conditioner a few weeks prior to the furnace deciding to call it a day. Their costs for the air conditioner & furnace were at a reasonable and competitive price. Plus the warranty is very good, 10 years on parts and labour. That was a selling point for me compared to others, who did not match the warranty. The pump for the air conditioner to remove excess water did not function and they returned the next day to replace it and made sure it was working . Thanks Yelp hive - my very first Yelp-sourced home maintenance contractor was a dream to deal with! Looking to replace an aged but functioning hot water tank in a very tight space. Thought I would try Yelp to search, just to compare the quality of Yelp-reviewed contractors to the general Google onslaught. Was awesomely surprised that I could request quotes directly through Yelp...and Van (at Trust Home Comfort) was very speedy at responding! I think I received every answer to my questions in T-minus 20 minutes. Hosting the entire conversation through Yelp was helpful as well, as I could keep my threads organized between contractors, instead of being forced to look up separate emails (and remember the contractors I reached out to, lol). All in all, 5 stars for the Yelp features that made sourcing a contractor handy! (yes, pun SUPER DUPER intended :P) Now for the real praise: Van and Len were able to clearly explain the differences between the costs of a hot water tank and a tankless hot water heater and help me work out the best solution for my situation. Their communication (Yelp messaging, phone calls and text messages) were speedy and timely. I was able to schedule the hot water tank replacement for the next day. The cost for the hot water tank (same brand as sold at Home Depot), installed (and old tank removed) was quoted as less than the purchase of a hot water tank at Home Depot. As a new homeowner, Van and Len made me feel confident that the installers understood their jobs well, before they came to do the replacement. The day of the replacement, the team arrived on time, and willing to help move my dryer and washing machine from the tiny closet in which lives the hot water tank. They put down waxed sheets over all of my flooring (entrance, stairs, basement) so that they could walk in with their boots and not scuff floors or leave anything wet. I was worried about their safety (hauling up and taking down tanks on the stairs), but the sheets were surprisingly grippy and traction was solid (as I went down to help point out the water shut off, etc). When faced with the fact that they couldn't empty the old tank directly into the floor drain, they ended up emptying it by the pail full (charged an additional hour of labour)...having already removed the washer/dryer, I was happy that they were willing to do something manually to make sure they could complete the job well! Once the new tank was installed, the team lead brought me downstairs to show me how the tank settings could be adjusted, and how the pilot gets lit. He made sure everything was working (running taps upstairs and downstairs) and double-checked the tank when the water didn't seem to get too hot upstairs. I paid by credit card (mobile system on his cell phone - similar to Square), and when it didn't seem like I had received the email receipt right away, he was willing to screenshot the payment screen and text it to me so that I had a record of payment before he left. He also asked Van to resend everything. I had received all paperwork before the team left. When I went downstairs, everything had been replaced - washer and dryer were in the their correct positions and had been hooked up again. Floors were dry and clean. All in all, I am super grateful that Trust Home Comfort were able to meet my schedule and provide such professional installation services! Would HIGHLY recommend! read more

Awesome service! I called today at noon to see if someone could come and fix my water heater as it hasn't been working for a few days. I was expecting for someone to come in a few days but they were so accommodating. I had to work until 5 and wouldn't be home until and hour later and they called their technician to confirm the time and got back to me in about 5-10 mins. Kong was my tech, he called me when he was on his way and when to expect him (last job ran a little bit late). Came when expected and was very friendly. He checked out my water heater and then went to get a replacement part for it. Quickly changed it out and let me know that I should change my air filter and some other info about it. No more cold showers for me! My water is nice and hot again and I have no complaints. Service and employees were very quick and friendly, there's was good communication. In a nutshell: These guys are awesome to deal with. They came on time; They worked their butts off until the job was done; They were very tidy and considerate of my property; and I got exactly what was promised at a fair price. The Details: When my A/C went on a hot summer day I thought ugh, I wish I knew someone in the field. I didn't, so I started reading reviews and calling around. The main HVAC repair companies around town came across as contractors (middlemen) that would just end up costing me more money in the end. I knew what I wanted. I wanted to deal directly with the guy who was going to do the work. Someone who cared about customer satisfaction. Someone I could trust. I found all those things and more when I spoke to Ray, the owner and operator of Trust Home Comfort. When I read some of the reviews on the competition, it seemed that the biggest frustration out there were people who were charged a couple hundred of dollars to get a guy out, only to be told that their old A/C was not worth repairing. I didn't want that to happen to me, so I took the unorthodox approach of taking a brief video of my problem and posting it to YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iMHhimCqUo . This will be great, I thought. Saves everyone time, and hopefully me some money. Right? Wishful thinking, none of the big companies were even willing to look at the video. So I kept calling around. Eventually, I got a hold of Van (the office guy) at Trust Home Comfort. He was great! He said "Sure, we'll have a look at the video", so I emailed him the link with some photos of my system. I heard back a short time later from the owner of the company, Ray, who is a journeyman HVAC technician with a 4 year degree in Refrigeration Technology. Ray told me straight up that he didn't think the problem was what I was hoping it would be (a low cost contactor part), but in order to know for sure he would have to come out and run a diagnostic. They both reassured me that if I had to replace the entire system, I wouldn't be charged for the service call AND a new system. When Ray (the owner/technician) arrived the next day he took his electronic meter measurements, and was able to confirm that my compressor was shot. I would need a new system. We sat down to discussed my options. Ray was very honest and forthright about which system would be best for me. He took his time and shared his experience about what other customers have liked. No high pressure sales. No lies about pricing. Just the straight honest goods you would expect from a technician. I loved that. We ended up upgrading our HVAC system to one of the new units that is VERY quite and comes with a 10 year parts warranty. I think my neighbor was especially pleased with the "quite" part. Ray was even willing to do the job on a long weekend, even though he planned on taking it off. At the end of the day, we got a new "Green" A/C unit, a new updated humidifier, and a new WiFi thermostat which I can control from anywhere in the world through my iPhone. A tech guy came to diagnose my furnace. I was hoping that he will repair the furnace and inform me of what is wrong with the furnace. He fiddled around with a hose and an an electrical connector and said my furnace is working. He did had his assistant install a humidifier filter which I bought from a different store. He pitched to sell a brand new furnace which will cost me around $3,500+. He gave me a bill for $239+ for the diagnosis and installation of the humidifier filter. That night, the furnace stopped working leaving me with no heat all night. Can't trust you guys anymore. read more

We had our Lennox A/C unit installed on April 29 by Trust Home Comfort. It has been a nightmare since day 01. They placed the thermostat directly across from our back door instead of fishing the wires up to our original thermostat. We were told they could not do that because of the fire break in the wall. It took us 30 minutes to do just that later that same day. Also, with the thermostat directly across from the back door the temperature would be inaccurate. Our Lennox unit has not worked properly since installation...they were made aware of this. We came home two weeks after the installation to find one of their techs working on our unit. No phone call or message prior, no service invoice left. I was told that they did to call because I work nights. My husband works days...they have his cell number as well. They changed the capacitor, or so we were told, and the unit continued to make banding/rattling sounds. No notifications on when they would return to fix the problem. Numerous phone calls and text messages from US...and NONE initiated from them...they have not even tried to keep us in the loop of when the Lennox tech will be here to assist them. The BEST PART...I call the City of Edmonton to have the unit inspected to close our permit...Trust Home Comfort DID NOT PULL A PERMIT. When I called about that I was told they did not need one. Even though it clearly stated on our estimate that Trust Home Comfort would pull the permit. I have now been promised that they will be here Monday June 03 at 0900 to fix the problem, again I had to call to find out the plan of action. A one star rating is by far too generous for the service and product that we purchased from Trust Home Comfort . BUYER BEWARE!!! read more

We hired Trust Home Comfort for a furnace repair. An ATCO representative had previously told us we needed a pilot light assembly repair. Our furnace was still working so it wasn't a rush job. At the time we requested the repair we were in a cold snap (-30) so there were a lot of emergency calls and the repairman (Len) apologetically had to reschedule us, which wasn't a problem. When Len arrived, he found the issue was actually a thermocouple repair and he replaced it within an hour. When he was finished he honored his original quote even though the repair was different from what we expected. We wrote a cheque but, at the time, forgot to add the GST. I later told Len about the mistake and offered to pay the GST but he said not to worry about it because he had rescheduled our call. Len was extremely personable, capable and has great integrity. I highly recommend this company, especially if you can get Len as your serviceman. read more
