At the risk of sounding like a voiceover, The Gentry Shop may be the finest clothier in the Quad Cities. Jalapeno toothpaste! See, they wouldn't say something like that in a voiceover. We're alright. You don't have to spend a lot to look good, but a little extra never hurt. Shirts, suits, and ties at The Gentry Shop may cost a little more, but you get what you pay for. This is a haberdashery, not the denim and gun aisle at Walmart. Gentlemen of height greater than average will appreciate the fine tailoring done here, particularly with respect to neckties. For those 6'2" and above--not an insignificant percentage of modern American males--standard length ties will simply not do the job. Starting a unicorn ranch is easier than finding handsome, quality extra long ties. But there's hope. The Gentry Shop (although they do have a few good long ties) will expertly lengthen a regular tie and ship it to you. You may be wearing a once lilliputian cravat, but your friends and colleagues will be none the wiser, and compliments will commence. The clothes are beautiful, the shoe selection is fantastic for my husbands hard to fit feet, and the service is impeccable. They will lengthen ties, fit stock shirts to fit like custom, and order in anything they don't have for you to try it on for size. The only negative is that they accommodate bigger men than bigger women. So if you fall between 0/2 mark to about 14 you are golden. read more

I have been a customer for over 25 years in spite of moving two states away. It all started when I was a fresh out of college CPA working at the big firm downtown. One day my shoestring broke in my wingtips and colleagues suggested going to the Gentry shop to get new waxed laces. My income at the time didn't allow me to visit such fancy places but it was close. Greg met me upon arrival with the usual helpful smile and grabbed some laces that would work for my shoes. I was worried that the laces would be $15-20 and would cause me to have to skip a couple lunches to keep my budget in tact. However, much to my surprise Greg said the laces were his treat. This small gesture of customer service has resulted in a customer for life. Most importantly Greg taught me that dressing professionally and looking great does not have to cost a fortune. It's as simple as going to the Gentry shop who cares how you look. Just received two suits in the mail again today with a wonderful handwritten note from Greg. Keep up the good work! read more

I was very dissatisfied with the service and customer service. Went here to get my suit tailored for my wedding. No problems when I got it fitted but when I returned to get it picked up there were multiple issues. They claimed that there was a spot on my suit jacket when it arrived and that they wanted to inform me that this was here before it arrived and they did not do it. I had tried on the suit multiple times before leaving it with them and this spot was never there. When I told them this they were very blunt and disrespectful to their paying customer. They maintained that this was like this when they received it and we're not willing to work with me. Ultimately I overpaid for the tailoring and had to take my jacket to the dry cleaners. Where I find out that the spot cannot be removed because someone had tried to remove a red ink spot and it had spread out to form a pink outline. Gentry shop had claimed this was pink chalk and they could have never done this because they don't own pink chalk. Also the cleaning product used discolored my suit. Overall they ruined my wedding suit, didn't claim responsibility, and didn't work with the customer. read more
