The casino is small, slot machines only, but fun considering how remote the location is. The view of the mountains is top shelf and you can easily access Great Basin National Park from here. The facility includes a motel, RV park, fuel, small store, bar, restaurant and casino. It's not perfect, but if you keep your expectations inline with the remote location it's surprisingly good.

The property is quite dated, and while our room was adequate for two night, it felt run-down and left me questioning the overall cleanliness. During our stay, the staff was pleasant enough. Unfortunately, that friendliness seemed to end once we checked out. After arriving at our next hotel in Wyoming, I realized I had accidentally left my metabolism measuring pen in the room. I called the Border Inn that same evening, and the manager (I believe her name was Laura) confirmed that they had found it. From that point on, however, getting it returned became an exercise in frustration. I was repeatedly told they would "try" to mail it in about a week. I called several times to follow up, offered to pay for the postage and for the employee's time, and even suggested having someone else take it to the post office since it is only about seven minutes away. Each time I received another excuse, but no action. Fortunately, I remembered the kindness of Sandra from Sandra's Mexican Food. I called her, explained the situation, and without hesitation she went to the Border Inn, picked up my pen, mailed it to me, and even refused to let me reimburse her for the postage or her time. That single act of generosity speaks volumes about the people you choose to do business with. If you are planning a visit to Great Basin National Park, I would strongly recommend staying at Sandra's Little Villa and supporting her business instead. Her kindness, integrity, and willingness to help a complete stranger after the sale had already been made are qualities that deserve recognition. Sometimes it is not the room you remember most, it is how people treat you when they no longer have anything to gain. Sandra earned a customer for life.

It's a tad run down and has its blemishes, but the room itself is clean and cheap enough for the amenities. Fridge, micro, clean bed, blazing fast WiFi. Easy in/out. Did I Mention clean? Ely is kind of a town that time forgot and I was a little nervous and dismayed when I pulled into this place off the main drag. The outside facade leaves a lot to be desired, but this place is the pillar of the old adage "don't judge a book by its cover"! Though, some of the other guests staying at the hotel were a bit suspect. After a weird interaction w/the front desk clerk (who I could not get to understand that I had already paid for my room through my Orbitz reservation) where I had to call my credit card company to tell her the charge for the room had already been made and who seemed a bit out of it, I finally made it up to my room. Thankfully, I was on the 2nd flr and had no one staying on either side of me, so I had a very quiet experience. Also, parking seemed limited, but there did not appear to be a lot of other guests there when I was, so I never had a problem finding a space, especially right in front of my room. To my very pleasant surprise, the room was spacious, well appointed, clean, had great water pressure in the shower, a big tv, micro and fridge...and the best part (I rarely say this about a hotel) was the bed! It was sooooo comfy, like pillow top mattress comfy and the pillows were plump and plentiful! I was only there for two nights and considering I was sleep deprived due to late night stargazing and the 2hr roundtrip trek to Great Basin NP, it was a welcome relief to come "home" to a warm, clean room, comfy bed, a Law & Order marathon, and a strong wifi connection!

We got in around 2pm and took a chance that we could check in. Luckily, there were rooms ready for us and we put into a ground floor room at the "annex' which is diagonally across the street. I'm sure it was another motel at one time and was taken over by Ramada for an expansion. The room we got was a ground floor and in the corner. The room showed some signs of wear, but it was very clean and comfortable. It was spacious enough for us and our 2 dogs. It came with two bottles of water in the fridge and cookies, both were complimentary. Breakfast was pre-packaged at the front desk and it had a breakfast sandwich, juice, breakfast bar and fruit, all in paper bag for you to take with you either back to your room or on the road. There is no fitness center at the property, but you sign out a fob and go a short distance up the street to Anytime Fitness, which beats any hotel fitness center. Like it's been pointed out in other reviews here on Yelp and other sites, the swimming pool and hot tub are in the lobby, just past the slot machines. I've never seen that before! Overall, it was a great experience staying here and will again whenever we are back in the area.

There is a mini fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, iron, iron board, and hairdryer. You also get a packet of complementary chocolate chip cookies and 2 water bottles. How thoughtful, it's the little things that count :) Casino is small but this would have been perfect had my mother in law joined us for this trip. Wouldn't have to worry about her getting lost. She loves to gamble but husband and I aren't into that so we didn't play. Pool and jacuzzi are inside. Gives me 70s vibe but I think it's groovy. Didn't use it though, forgot my swimsuit. There is a restaurant on site that is open 4pm-9pm. We didn't eat there but that is convenient so you don't have to leave the property. However there is a couple other restaurants that are walking distance from here. They have a grab and go breakfast bag but we didn't get it. Gym is not on the property. It's about 3 blocks away. You will be given a pass to Anytime Fitness. Dog friendly!!! And as of 5/6/23 free of charge for your fur baby. Only con is there isn't a designated spot for your doggie to do their business. However, this wasn't a problem for me since I like to walk my dog for at least a mile so I just walked around the area...I saw some deers !!! The price was worth it for us. We paid $136 for a Saturday. The room was clean, lots of amenities, friendly staff at the front desk, and my favorite it is dog friendly. We would stay here again if we return to Ely :)
