Aww man, when this place was run by the hip hop heads of Williamsburg and A Tribe Called Quest, this was a happening hide-away on Bedford. But now, the average age of the patrons in an actually sexily-lighted space, was a bit double than that of mine own. This is a great bar. It's always a great spot to grab a beverage and hang out with friends. The lighting is dim, so it can also be a good spot for a date. They have a decent amount of seating/standing options. The 2 best things about this bar are that they have McKenzie's original cider on draft and they have a foosball table. read more

I found this place on Yelp and what a find. We bar hopped through out Bedford and I whipped out my trusty Yelp app and found this haven. A total locals bar with great decor and awesome room mates. I had several rare beers I had never had. I can't recall the stout I had, but damn it was good. They have so much room to hang out with your friends, the music is not too loud. Good beer selection, but pitchers tend to be pricey $24 for some pitchers, that's about $7 more expensive than The 4th Down for essentially the same quantity of beer. The back garden area is nice. They don't do Rumple Mint shots, they are definitely missing out. read more

Went here last night wih a group of guys to watch the Heat/Pacers game. Loved the large screens, open windows and dog-friendly backyard. Bartender was friendly and so were the patrons, but I looked around a little while later and realized that I was the only girl in the bar. It's odd to know that this place is right next to Turkey's Nest and yet people still find themselves meandering in. You'd think this place had a bit of pretention to it, it's smaller, darker, and gives off an over all not-so-cheery vibe at first. But something happens as the night starts to move forward, just the small things that make you really fall in love with the place. The bartender, kyle, was kind enough to give away a free shot to my friend and I, just because he had some left over, he even seemed giddy when we ordered Irish car bombs. And a good bartender can really make a night. The music was overall pretty great, stuff. And they put on Wii Resort for the last hour, which I know is ridiculous, but by that last hour I was so drunk that all I wanted to do was move a stick around at a screen. The atmosphere is confused in this regard, on one hand it's a cozy date bar, on another hand... sports bar. Ewww. Came here on a Saturday night looking for a chill place to have some drinks with friends. The place was quiet and cozy and we were able to seat a rather large group comfortably. Excellent beers on tap. There's also a nice outdoor area, a foosball table, and a nifty water dispensary to stay hydrated (I love bars that do this). I agree that the theme of the bar seems a little confused. There was a TV showing a sports game that pretty much no one was paying attention to. It seemed out of place, but regardless, we were impressed with the drinks and the vibe. For a Saturday night, The Gibson was an excellent choice to avoid crowds and still enjoy some good music. OMG, some of the best BBQ I have had!...at a BAR. WTF? This dude in the back grills up the most amazing smokey fish tacos (on Tuesday nights)...I went back on a Friday and he makes an insane pulled pork sandwich! I was told this happens weekly while the weather is warm. The bartenders are all really cool, the back patio is nice, the inside is comfortable. (I am not one for packed bars, so this is perfect) Highly recommended! Good for large groups too. read more

Met a friend for drinks at the gibson on saturday night. He lives on bedford ave, and wanted to try the new bar in his neighborhood. The place has a very low key vibe and we weren't sure if we'd be there long. We got there about 9pm and it was pretty quiet. there were about 15 people there but its a pretty open space so it seemed kinda empty. The bartender was real friendly and even introduced us to some girls that also live in the neighborhood, I thought that was pretty cool. By 10pm the place started to get more lively and we stayed till around midnight. it was a bit of an older crowd than some of the other bars in the neighborhood but everyone we talked to seemed pretty cool. There were a couple of small birthday partys going on and it seems like a great place to throw one. I'll definitely stop by again to check it out. read more

I really like The Gibson! Yes, it's fairly new and a bit empty but the staff is fantastic. The owner Jeff is a sweetheart who really hooks it up on the drinks and makes sure everyone is happy. The other bartenders are also really courteous and happy to fix you whatever you're craving. The decor is a bit minimal and open but will warm up in time. Definitely a welcoming new place. read more

YEAH, Gibson! My favorite bar in North Brooklyn! I don't know what it is about this place. There's no one amazing thing I can point to, like the drinks or the clientele, to make me say "this is why it's so wonderful". It's just...comfortable. It's the perfect place to meet up with everyone and have a chill night out. The music is always good, you can almost always get a seat, you don't have to scream to hear each other, and sometimes there is mac n' cheese. Any night I'm out with friends, inevitably we'll end up at Gibson. Love this place. read more

This place was pretty nice. I went fairly late on a Saturday night, and it wasn't too crowded, but the communal table in the center was inviting and I ended up talking with some other people. My friend and I decided it didn't really qualify as a dive bar, but it's definitely a comfortable place to go for a drink. Prices are reasonable and service is good. read more
