The ladies in the store were so helpful and friendly! Terry checked me out and talked to my husband while I shopped. They have a fantastic amount of kits and fun fabrics for good prices. They have a decent mix of the two things you are apt to find in downtown Anchorage gift shops: 1) Wildly underpriced goods (magnets, t-shirts, bookmarks, wall art, etc.) made in China. 2) Very spendy items (soaps, salves, syrups, carvings, etc.) made in Alaska by Alaskans. This is my Mom's favorite downtown gift shop. The clothing and stuffed animal sections here are particularly massive. Though you aren't going to find any technical/pragmatic/outdoor clothing, this is all chiefly gear to let folks in the lower 48 know that you've been to Alaska. If you're a local, the advantage of going here is to see all the various Alaska-made goods in one place, so you can go patronize those individuals and companies directly.

Always good flowers and service…read more Basic Problem was the reaction of disbelief when I called to say my sister said the flowers were damaged a bit- probably due to the long time in truck and the cold. No response. NOTHING. I felt as if the owner did not believe me but that I was lying. Her friendly attitude quickly changed but no "I am sorry you are not satisfied. Indicated I should find another florist- not acceptable Customer Serv ice. She sent me a picture taken about 3-5 hours before delivered but I could not open. My sister's picture showed the damage. The cost for delivery was $20 - never told that charge would be so high. The last time I ordered less than $15. Sadly, I will have to find another florist and will look for reviews.

When I met with Dallas in her shop to discuss my vision for my flower arrangements she was warm, funny, and immediately understood what I was looking for. She knew the venue well (Crow Creek Mine) and provided tons of advice and recommendation above and beyond just the flower arrangements. When Crow Creek Mine sent me the layout of our reception I forwarded it to Dallas and she actually edited it to make it better. When she showed up the day of the wedding to arrange the flowers the layout was a little different than what we discussed, but she was able to adapt her arrangements to make the reception look gorgeous. Dallas did all of our center pieces, four flower crowns, my main bouquet and a tossing bouquet, four boutonnieres, and four corsages. She also brought additional accent pieces for my cocktail tables and left blooms for my dessert table. I loved my bouquet. She took the elements that I described and made it into a beautiful reality with tons of texture and different types of greenery. The quality of the flowers was apparent when the bouquet lasted for a whole week after the wedding. I took it camping with us down in Tutka Bay and tossed it off the back of a sea kayak, which seemed fitting for the end of an Alaskan wedding. I especially loved the wrist corsages she created. She used silver cuff bracelets, which made them look very polished and sophisticated on my mother and mother-in-law (not like a cheap prom corsage). Everything was perfect and beautiful and I was ecstatic with the way that everything looked. I know Dallas also offers a la carte items, but I have to say, having the full service treatment where she set everything up relieved so much stress from the actual day.

They attempted to deliver but no one was home and the house was dark. Rather than leave the flowers at the door ( which would have been eaten by the neighborhood moose or frozen due to frigid temperatures) they emailed me to let me know and said they would try to deliver again the following day- which they did and they even sent me pictures so I could see what I had ordered and sent.

Tourists, if you're looking for a unique, handmade Alaskan gift, this place should be your first stop. I'm pretty sure 100% of their items are made in Alaska, by local Alaskan artists, artisans and crafters. Admittedly they don't have Native Alaskan Crafts, but they are very heavy on Alaskan themed art. Items range from under 10 dollars to several thousand and there's nothing pretentious about this gallery. It's all acessible and gorgeous. Items run the gamut: stationary, jewelry, glass, sculpture, paintings, textiles, home decor, photography, clothing, beauty products... so many things I can't name them all. Alaskan themes are abundant, birch, halibit, salmon, Denali, Anchorage, snow, mountains, moose, ect. If you wanna buy me something I'll love, start here. It's a shame it's so far down 4th Avenue next to the dusty old abandoned 4th Ave Theater, because a lot of people miss this place because of its location. Seek it out, you won't regret it.
