My wedding and engagement rings needed resized. The original mill grain one was very thin, and we…read morewanted the thickness and profile of the two rings to be more similar, so we decided to get a new band to mark our anniversary. The saleswoman assisted us with selecting the perfect band to complement my engagement ring. My engagement ring is an eternity style, so it is not the easiest task, to get a good complement. We selected a thin, braided, gold band. She also explained that, since I normally wear the rings together, soldering them would be beneficial, and would prevent the settings of the diamonds from needing an expensive repair. The repair took two weeks, less than the estimated three. They also replaced a watch battery, for my husband. Also, we hit a road construction delay, on the way to pick up the ring. I called, and told the staff member that we were likely to arrive just at closing, or a few minutes late. They were kind enough to stay open for us, despite, I'm sure, being ready to close up on a Friday evening. I was so happy to be able to wear the new and improved ring that weekend, while we were out and about.

But going the other direction, some nicer houses. Several mannequins line the windows in a pleasing display of colors and patterns. Inside is relatively small, but orderly, with the space maximized with shelf displays and purses high up on the wall. Two large windows bring in natural light. The racks of clothing inside are shoppable, and not over stuffed. They are mostly all women's clothes, arranged by broad categories such as pants and t-shirts. The demographic skews a bit towards the stylish older woman: waterfall cardigans, Vera Bradley purses, comfortable shoes. Good condition clothes, from quality value brands like Uniqlo, to mid range department store brands like Style & Co, to some gems, like from Garnet Hill or Marmot. Prices might be a little more than Goodwill, but the clothes are in better condition than the Goodwill down the street on Mt Vernon road. The designs are also a nicer selection with some fashionable embroidery, cheerful prints, and perhaps a few items in better fabrics like cashmere. And even better when there's a 50% sale on select categories. The lady at the cashier is welcoming, and willing to engage in conversation. She allowed me to look through the corner section of unpriced items and offered to price some on the spot. There are three fitting rooms painted bright pink. The rule is to leave the garments in the fitting room after you try them on. The doors are unusually high though so I was hesitant to try on pants because I hadn't shaved my lower legs because yknow, winter. If you're thinking about consigning clothes to this shop, call ahead as it may be full and not accepting more as space is limited. I recommend checking out this thrift store. Even though maybe the location isn't the most inviting, the actual shopping experience was comfortable and pleasant.

Art Jewlers, however, as they took an existing design that I had fallen in love with online, pointed out some potential weak points in the design (without being pushy or arrogant) then proceeded to work with me closely for the next couple of weeks finding all fo the stones and finalizing details of the ring. Deb delivered an exceptional ring under budget (she easily could have charged me commission and filled the gap but instead passed the savings on to me), and was kind and professional throughout the whole process. In the end I got a much better ring than I would have purchased had I gone with the original design online. I will absolutely recommend H.L Art to anybody who asks. The owner of the store asked me what I was looking for and I told her, gave her my (very reasonable) price range and she said to give her a few days to find me something and she would be in touch. I'm the meantime, she gave me her personal cell number to send pictures and info to of what I was looking for so she could be my "personal jeweler". After sending a total of 4 texts that included one picture and descriptions of what I was looking for, I was completely blown off and it's now almost a month later and she didn't even acknowledge a single text. And yes, I double checked that I had messaged the correct number before leaving this review. In the meantime, I ordered a custom piece from another jeweler. I have already received it and the price was lower than the range I gave this owner. I went to this store because I had purchased from it 20+ years ago and was very happy with my experience. Unfortunately, it is no longer the same owner as it was back then.
