Father Paul gave a sincere, well-thought-out sermon that seemed to really connect with the parishioners. It was relatable and heartfelt. Their website is simple to navigate, and they keep their Instagram pretty active, which is nice if you want to stay updated. It's a great place to deepen your faith with a grounded, approachable community. We will definitely be part of the parish.

The atmosphere of this temple is interestingly unique as it is flanked by the 101, Hollywood Freeway. So, the moment you get out of your car you can hear the rumbling of the thousands of cars that pass by this temple daily. That being said, you immediately forget about this factor the moment you step onto the grounds, as the peace and the serenity of this small spiritual community immediate overtakes you. I will not go into details about the spiritual services and other activities that they offer, as that is better done by the people in-charge of this facility. Plus, the information is on their website. I will say that they have a GREAT bookshop on the property and, with a few restrictions, you can go into their temple and meditate or reflect whenever you feel the need. The Vedanta Society is truly one of the hidden treasures of Los Angeles. I highly recommend a visit here even if you are not normally drawn to Eastern spirituality.

There is next to no diversity on the staff. Only really one person of color. Even in recent times where there has been opportunity to add diversity to staff, this has not been a priority. The pastor seems more interested in the sound of his own voice than to take accountability for how little courage there is in not standing up and speaking up about all the social injustice that's not only going on in the nation but literally outside the doors of the church. He skates around the topics, sarcastically jokes and will never outright call out injustice. For a church in the middle of Hollywood- this is predominately white, very surprisingly right wing despite the facade, and VERY cliquey. Really disappointed in the amount of time and trust invested in this church, but am finally speaking up and going to support a different church body that actually is ACTIVE in the community, diverse and shows it in actions even with who the pastor and his wife choose to surround themselves with- it's just really such a bad witness for such a diverse city.

This temple which, while open to all, is decidedly anti-missionizing (unlike its immediate neighbor, the church of Scientology). I find it kind of amusing the two being right next to each other: they couldn't be more different. Anyway, I'm not a member, but I am happy for them to peacefully seek spiritual edification. Their gardens are quite lovely and very peaceful and open to everyone most days. It can be quite calming to take a moment to admire the gardens or sit by the waterfall fountain and just exist. They have absolutely transformed it into wheelchair friendly accessible! & they added the elevator. I have never encountered a single negative person at all.
