As a literacy specialist, I can not say enough about how well the teachers build a love of literacy. When my son and daughter were in the infant room, there were books everywhere-students looking at books, the teachers were reading to students, and books were on display. In all the toddler classrooms, again there are books everywhere, always in students' reach and matching the theme of the week. Students learn their ABCs, letter recognition, the letters in their name, they make animals out of letters, find the duck with the correct letter on it, incremental rehearsal with letters, etc. And they have an alphabet song that is used in all of the classrooms to help students learn the letter sounds. This really is a school where learning happens every day! My son loved books from the start, but my daughter was a little resistant. Now at 21 months, and thanks to the Goddard, her favorite thing is to read. Both of my kids started at Goddard as babies, and we've had such a wonderful experience since. Mr. John and Ms. Renee care so much about the families and kids in their care, and they're always available to talk through concerns and provide their expertise. The teachers are incredible and work so hard, and they're truly interested in the success of the kids in their class. They're always available to talk to parents after hours and they do an excellent job of keeping us posted throughout the day with pictures of the kids. The facility is always clean and the kids get lots of outside time, which is great. The families that come to Goddard are also super friendly and always smiling, which is so refreshing. We have been a Goddard family since our son was four months old. We couldn't be happier! Goddard is truly a family affair, and there are so many positive aspects of our experience. Our son has grown leaps and bounds, and he gets so excited when it is time to go to "school." We are both teachers, so reading is a must in our household. Goddard School in Medford has been wonderful to my now three year old son. He started a year ago after a very unsuccessful two years in a home day care setting. His teachers have been kind and nurturing and understand the plight of a working mom.
