Then, just six weeks before his third birthday, we were informed that he did not have a spot in the three-year-old classroom and that his spot in the two-year-old classroom had been given to a child on the waitlist. Yes, you read that correctly: Our son was forced out of this preschool without justification, and we were given six weeks to find new childcare accommodations at a time when most providers have six-month waitlists! After asking around, it became clear that this situation is by no means common for childcare providers. I won't get into the other red flags we identified because frankly, they pale in comparison to this infraction. I have had some time to process everything, and it has left me split between two conclusions: either Sunshine Montessori is managed so poorly that they failed to continue to care for our son or, for reasons I can't comprehend, the leadership at Sunshine Montessori made a malicious decision not to continue to care for our son. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusion. My only advice is to proceed with caution if you're considering leaving your child in the care of Sunshine Montessori Preschool. You too may be left scrambling to find a new provider on short notice.

We knew it would be an adjustment for her and us, but we felt comfortable that the school was prepared for it. Ultimately, we unenrolled her after a week due to an incident and how it was handled. We weren't alerted until 90 minutes after the incident (which included a large scratch on her face and a large knot on her head), and we were told a completely different story than what happened (details below). A boy in our daughter's class was upset, and as she was standing next to the teacher, he shoved her into the wall, where she hit her face on the wall and head on the ground. We know things like this can happen when you have roughly 6 new kids starting in one class at one time (with just one teacher), but the biggest issue we had was how (and when) we were alerted. We were sent a notification in the app 90 minutes after the incident took place and the message said it was a kid who bumped into her while everyone was playing and she was fine, a small scratch and a pure accident. When I arrived to the school and saw her with massive scratches on her face (which still have not fully healed and we hope don't scar) and a large knot on her head it seemed to be a bigger incident than we were told. Not only that, the incident report said it was an intentional act with the kid being upset - very different than what we were told via the message in the app. I do think this is a unique situation and likely wouldn't happen again, and I have nothing but good things to say about those who work at the front. But we were unable to look past the delay in alerting us coupled with the different story being told on what actually took place. If I were a prospective parent I would advise you ask about how many new kids are starting at once and what support that teacher would have as well as what their communication plan is when an incident takes place and the staff is on a tour.

No matter where you go or what type of "program" a school says they base their teaching strategies on its honestly all about the teachers and WMI has some of the most caring and nurturing of people around. They are so caring welcoming they make your child feel safe while allowing them to be independent and respectful and have some ownership in their learning and school. The students- AMAZING. They are the most well behaved group of kids you will ever meet... And happy!! Because they model after each other and the teachers are good at modeling discussing/explaining reasons for why we respect each other and act the way we act everyone is happy and just respectful of each other. I had a friend tour who was weirded out and Said it wasn't natural to be this well behaved almost cult like... But it just shows you kids can be respectful playful well behaved little people if they are expected to be. The friend actually toured and did an "experiential day" with the school and actually has her daughter starting end of the month!!! The director- joy is amazing and really caring for her student.. They all love her to pieces. I will say honestly she sometimes is a little disorganized with parents (forgets scheduled meetings with parents from time to time) but never lacks with the children. I think she just has tons on her plate teaching/training/running and amazing school that things fall through the crack sometimes. She really wants the family to be really involved in the community which is great. She is also very easily reached/available and in constant communication with parents. The one negative that I can think of is they don't help wipe the kids if they are potty trained. They want them to be independent and do it on their own. My daughter has come home multiple times with skid marks because I just don't think she can reach that far. I have mentioned it before but not seriously talked to the school about it. Honestly though... There is no other school that I would trust with teaching the right morals and learning how to interact in a community to become fully functioning little people than WMI. You will not regret your decision for going....

I love love love the infant building they are absolutely incredible we got the privilege to have…read morems.Katelyn as a teacher and she is truly amazing in every way I could really tell she cared about my child and I felt very comfortable and confident in her teaching and just overall being highly recommend, we are now in the toddler side and it's a bit more strict on drop offs makes it a bit hard as a single mom having to take transportation currently but they really value the time with all the children they do beautiful arts and crafts, going to the park and teaching use of glass cups which was super scary at first but we've had zero accidents and my daughter is doing so amazing!!! We have a new teacher ms.Roxana and she very wonderful and great with my daughter especially now that she throws her little toddler tantrums cause she has to leave her mommy but they handle it with grace and offer to looks at the fishy's in the other room I love everything about this place they have good secured doors only parents can access which makes me feel very safe they also take erdc for anyone looking for that. My husband and I both work at Intel. We are both blue badges with graduate degrees. There's no way we could ever afford this place. It does have all the bells and whistles, but kids just need somebody loving and attentive; they don't NEED a gourmet chef cooking for them. Just feed them lean meats, whole grains, and lots of fruits and veggies: it's not rocket science. Look, if the rates weren't so outrageous, it might not be so bad. I'm sure this place would have lots of good activities, but it's also good for kids to have plenty of unstructured playtime. This is how kids develop creativity. I would rather save my hard earned paycheck for paying off student loans, a downpayment on a home, or for retirement savings. Our twins joined TDLD in 2019: our 3-year long experience with TDLD has met and exceeded our expectations and we were saddened to have left the nurturing environment of TDLD due to my job location change. Loving, nurturing and stimulating environment provided by TDLD has made our twins independent, curious and sociable: we experienced the beauty of this when they were chosen to join Japanese immersion Montessori pre-school (ages 3 to 6) in our new location. Our twins were invited to interview at the Montessori school based on the personalized assessment (collection of work and ASQs) of twins as compiled by TDLD throughout their stay; we are extremely grateful for TDLD teachers and their diligence to document the child's progress from as early as infancy. Our twins' thirst for knowledge and confident well-balanced demeanor as inculcated by TDLD led to them being accepted to join the program after in-person assessment. We had the chance to go back and visit the school after a few months and our twins were so excited to meet all of their teachers (Danielle, Lisa, Becky, Tomoko, Elsa, Lynn, Susan, Aurora, Candy, Katy, Ashley, Cara, Yoko, Simin, Melina, Brennyn, Kim, Rosa, Liz, Brigid, Eigo) and chefs (Danial and Nathan); it was heart-warming to see their interaction with every single teacher at the school... We were assured that she could and were encouraged to enroll. Unfortunately, our experience was very different. We repeatedly tried to contact our daughter's teacher, Françoise Coulon Lantz, to ask how we could support a beginner French learner at home. Communication did not occur until I showed up in-person requesting a meeting. During that meeting, she described our daughter as not knowing her purpose at school and acting "goofy." She then said many students had French-speaking parents, grandparents, or connections to France and asked, "What do you have?" As multilingual immigrants, this was surprising. I speak four languages and my husband speaks seven. We have never been asked to justify learning a language based on ancestry or cultural ties. We believe language education should be open to all children. Our daughter became afraid to ask questions, felt singled out at snack time, and excluded from classroom activities shared with parents in group chat. She was also expected to request restroom permission in French despite being a beginner, which often left her afraid to speak up! We also had concerning interactions with Pierre Burthey, who said families typically attend ILA due to French cultural ties or the ability to afford private school, then asked which applied to us. He also suggested our daughter might be better suited for public school. The impact on our daughter was significant. By the end of the fall term, she was anxious about attending school and often resisted going. We withdrew her. After winter break, the school created an individualized plan with other teacher replacing Françoise, and she thrived--regaining confidence and enjoying learning again. After three month, we were told by Pierre of his decision: our daughter is required to return to Françoise's class despite her distress. When we raised concerns, we felt dismissed and withdrew her that day. We are grateful to Valentin Raclot, Scott Murphy, Beatriz Ruiz, Valérie Rogers, Daour Mboup, Marc Bescond, Bayel Sarr, and Colin Labelle for their professionalism, kindness, and support. However, our overall experience at the 3rd-5th grade level was overwhelmingly negative. Families with children entering French immersion without prior experience should carefully consider whether this environment is the right fit. For our family, it was a nightmare!

The principal also regularly sends messages or emails about events, staffing changes, and other happenings at the school. The teachers did a great job implementing the curriculum and our daughter loved working with them. We were also given informative updates about her developmental progress through periodic conferences. Although the COVID pandemic disrupted all daycares in 2020, the school handled it as well as they could. Overall, Touchstone took great care of my daughter and set her up to succeed in elementary school, and I highly recommend it.

Whenever we get a chance to talk to the former Beaverton teachers, they always make us feel welcome as always. But not the Hillsboro team and sorry to say even the Hillsboro principal doesn't feel genuine. It feels like when parents talk to her, it goes in one ear and out another. I understand that you want business to thrive but you also have to make an effort to make people feel welcome. We really miss the Beaverton location and wish it will open again. The teachers feel like family, are always happy and have the time to address any concerns you have or small talk. You can tell that the Beaverton teachers truly care about your child and your family. The Hillsboro team does not make you feel that way. There are also some safety concerns. My niece told me that one of the teachers of the younger class forgot some children on the playground while going inside. My niece's class, the older kids, were still playing while the younger ones were going inside. The main door is on the older kid playground area. The teacher of the younger class went inside and left 2 students outside. Thank goodness there was another class outside because my niece's teacher noticed this and brought the children inside. I don't know if the other teacher was talked to about forgetting her students. Another safety concern is that recently they decided to open the emergency side door exit for the older classes to make going home time faster since there is always a long line. So that door is open and the teacher just lets the child out, but having to stay by the door because they're supposed to stay with the rest of the class. I understand that they want to make it convenient for families to make the pick up time faster, but the teacher isn't able to personally bring the student out to their families. What if the child gets hurt on the way? And what about the children in the classroom? If the teacher is in the doorway watching a child go to their family, who is watching the kids inside? I would truly give this school 0 stars but give it 2 stars since we still keep in touch with the Beaverton transferred teachers and they ALWAYS make us feel welcome.
