Worst experience ever! I chose this school for the name because my older kids had attended another Goddard. What a disappointment!! Worst upper management I have ever dealt with. They do NOT care about your kid or their needs, only your $. They never listen to parents, will lie & gaslight you. It's so toxic. They play favorites! But don't you dare call them on it, they get defensive & hostile. They give stale snacks & whatever is on sale which is typically just oranges. They keep the rooms cold to not use $ for heating. Nothing is ever cleaned and your kid will come home sick every week! Not sure how they pass inspections or licensing. Teachers are unhappy, you can see it on their face. Some of the classrooms are like a chaotic zoo. No structure, no discipline. My kid was so happy to leave she made me promise to never take her back. That's how bad it is. Stay away. All the other local schools are 100x better & cheaper!! Wish I could give 0 star. Oh and the owner is absentee. Never ever responds to emails or even knows you or your child. I saw her maybe 3x total in 1.5 years and she never even looked up from her laptop to give a welcoming smile. But once they misplaced my email and she was finally emailing me. Surprise surprise when she wants her $ she will magically become available. Btw they had misplaced my check and were trying to charge me a late fee even though I paid 4 days in advance!! read more

My kiddo attended Goddard school for part of Pre-K, all of Kindergarten, and the summers after Kindy and first grade. Really, it's pretty expensive, but we felt worth it. Especially for Kindergarten. We wanted and needed a full day Kindy and there wasn't one available at our local public school at that time. She was really ready, she was already reading and doing some math. Princess got Mandarin classes,music, sign language, soccer instruction, basketball, handwriting practice, all kinds of exposure to various media... the teachers were mostly fabulous,the playground was good, and we felt it was clean and safe if not a bit stuck up. ( sorry, but true). All in all it was a good experience. She would tell you she liked the Pre-K and kindergarten parts fine, but after first grade they "treated (her) like a baby" and she did not like that part. We didn't bring her back for the summer after 2nd grade, although we could have. We also found out after the fact that some of their snacks were less than desirable. Um, Twinkies? really? But, I have to reiterate, safe and for the most part, very good. She and her friends from Goddard liked one of their teachers so much that they talked him up in First Grade and the First Grade teacher invited him to come to their class and read the class a story and hang out with them. That was pretty special. How often does that happen, really? and the kids STILL talk about him and his visit. Sweet. read more

I am really happy that I made the decision to choose The Goddard School for my 3 month old daughter. She is in the Infant Room with Tatiana and Allison. The two teachers in there are personable and friendly. They are very easy to talk to. I also enjoy reading the daily reports and receiving photos and videos of my daughter during the day. It is very reassuring as a parent to see that your child is safe and happy in the classroom while you are at work. This is the part that really sold me on putting my daughter at The Goddard School. :) So far, we have had really great experience with the staff even from the first day of visiting the school. The owner, director, and the teachers are all very responsive to your needs when you have questions and/or concerns. I am impressed with how organized and clean the school is. I've visited many daycares and facilities and most of them all have a unsanitary smell in the rooms. The Goddard School is the only place up to cleanliness (A+) speed. Also, I am thankful that the director was able to get us in the school right away after thinking we would have to be on the wait list for one month due to zero openings. We got lucky after a spot had opened up and my daughter got in just in time for me to go back to work. Another great thing I like is the fact that there is ALWAYS someone there (usually Lisa with a smiling face :)) in the front to greet you or say goodbye. I thought that is pretty welcoming and a great security being aware of who is coming in/out of the building. Highly recommend this daycare/school for your children if you are living in the Bethany area. I STILL keep hearing so many great and positive things about this particular Goddard School wherever I go. We were very disappointed in this school due to their dubious business practices: teachers were replaced on a monthly basis and they used excessive number of part time "teacher" whose qualifications were questionable. This whole situation made my kid's time there very stressful. We sent our toddler to this daycare for a while mostly because we were impressed by its facility and I admit that we were very inexperienced to spot a good daycare. Soon we started noticing that teachers were constantly replaced on a weekly basis. There were always a lot of "substitute" or "part time" caregivers responsible sometimes for a whole class of toddlers. Their qualifications were never found on their site or anywhere else. I understand it could happen occasionally but it was too excessive to make our kid to create any strong bonds with any teachers there. Also, what's the point of sending my kid to the most expensive daycare in town if my kid is spending time mostly with randomly hired part time caregivers there? This situation resulted in creating lots of stress in my kid's adjustment and we saw how such stress was manifested in our kid at home: excessive wakeups at night and even occasional self harm. I tried to bring up this issue but none of their excuses made sense to me, and this problem was never resolved. We ended up moving out of this place. My kid is now much happier at another daycare where teachers have been working for years there and I know all of them by their names. read more

Money is more important than a family's well-being. My experience was classless and the service was terrible. I would read the fine print and make sure you hold onto your hard earned money before handing it over. Cindy (Owner) who owns this franchise had a welcoming smile, but I wish I knew what was behind it before we got started. My wife and I put our son on the waitlist and got accepted after waiting four months. What we thought was long list turned out to be scam. We were asked to put our first month's deposit down immediately in order to hold our spot. Since it is difficult to get accepted into daycares in the Portland area, we moved quickly. We put our first month's deposit down two months in advance of our son attending his first day. The rule is to put the money down within 30 days of the start date but we wanted to show good will...BIG MISTAKE! This pressure tactic has been used on others. Two weeks after putting our hard earned money down, I received a job offer to move to the east coast. We thought...this shouldn't be a concern since we put our money down 60 days in advance...wrong again. We asked that our deposit to be refunded as our circumstances were extenuating. There was no reaction from Cindy (the owner) accept to say that it was "policy" (which is her own, not Goddard's). Cindy took $1,600 from my family and wouldn't refund us even though we asked for our refund over 40 days in advance of our son's start date. If you are a family looking for a daycare in Portland, stay away from this place. If put a deposit down in good faith they will hold it as if it was their own. They will not listen or care for your family's well-being. It is all about the money. Their goal is to find ways to scam families and back them into corners using her "policy" excuse to push you away. Before writing this review I did research and found out that this has happened to other families. They decided not to write about their experiences because they fell for a scam and were embarrassed. I speak on behalf of all the families who I share this experience with and only hope my review sheds light on what is really going on behind the scenes. I had my two children at The Goddard School for 6 years. Not only have they thrived at public school since leaving Goddard but they are well ahead of most of the students in their class. I found that the teachers there were very well educated, very friendly and very loving toward my kids. Each and every day they both were very excited to go to school and loved their teachers and loved to tell us about all they had learned during the day. I can't thank the Goddard School enough for what they did for our family. The owners and directors are always there to help you when ever needed. The tuition is a little high but I believe it was worth every penny and would highly recommend sending your kids here for a top notch education. read more
