I love supporting local businesses and this one has been on my list to try . Unfortunately my experience was not the same as others . Service was great but we were the only one in there . I ordered biscuits and gravy and it was overly salty . My husband ordered chorizo omelet and it lacked chorizo flavor more like a beef omelet. The price point was very high in my opinion more like prices you pay at a high end breakfast place when this location is a very old diner . This diner is located in a small strip mall. We went on a week day morning but parking can be limited on the weekends. Parking is free for like 2 hours but you don't need that much time to eat. The chairs are close to the booths but it's cozy. The family that owns it are extremely nice. I ordered the breakfast sampler and the portions are huge. I definitely got a lot of protein. Came to this place after thrifting due to the good reviews. Yelp, y'all let me down. I love diner food, and even better in a strip mall. I should've known when the coffee wasn't even decent. I got chilaquiles and have definitely had better. The sauce just wasn't saucing if you know what I mean. The Turkey melt was dry (should come with avocado maybe?). The burrito was just ok. This is a very small diner that appears to be family operated. Our servers were very young (about high school age) and very friendly helping out on the weekends. It was about 85 degrees out and no AC going so it did get pretty warm inside. There was only the entrance door propped open for air. There were a few flys that made their way in and got quite annoying at times. The food was decent. I ordered the chicken burger and dad ordered the special burger. Just a couple of burgers made on a grill with some sauce which were pretty tasty. Came with fries which were a bit over salted but tasty as well. The gentleman who made our burgers asked us if we enjoyed our meal before we left. He also mentioned that they make homemade pozole and menudo for breakfast on the weekends. Will definitely come back to try that and update my review. Their prices are pretty fair and glad to support a small business that is family owned. read more

First off, the service here is phenomenal. The folks working were super friendly. I'd recommend getting the breakfast food or Mexican food options, they were delicious. We ordered chilaquiles rojos, chicken enchiladas, and carne asada fries and everything was cooked fresh and tasted great. I also ordered a grilled cheese with onion rings. The grilled cheese was tasty, but didn't meet the flavors in the other meals. The onion rings were a miss. They're frozen and fried and mine were somehow over and under cooked. Was looking for a breakfast place for Valentine's Day and saw the great reviews for this place so decided to check it out. The place wasn't what I expected at all but it delivered in every aspect! Definitely has a diner ambiance. The food came out quick and the portions were huge! I got the breakfast sampler and my boyfriend got the chorizo omelet and both things were delicious. The pancakes are crisp on the outside and soft on inside. I also asked for a side of biscuits in gravy and I will likely be getting that plate next time we go because we're definitely returning. It's a family owned restaurant so you get that family style service where they just want to make sure you're happy. it was great to see a family working towards building something great for themselves. Just went there this morning with my husband and kiddos. When we first got there it was empty but got busy pretty quickly. It's a small, quaint diner that feels homey. I got the chilaquiles with steak and my husband got the chorizo and egg burrito. Chipotle chilaquiles- sooooo good!!! They didn't skimp on the meat either. Plate also came with beans. Chorizo and egg burrito- was just okay. Needed more flavor; maybe just some salt. My kiddo loved it though and he doesn't eat just anything so take that for what it's worth. Service- I think our waitresses name was Carla (at least that's what the receipt said) she was pretty good. When the food came out, my kiddo was hungry and crying for food but it was all too hot. She kindly offered to bring him some fruit free of charge. That was very kind and appreciated. If you have a hungry fussy toddler, you understand. We went here for a Sunday breakfast around 10am and there was no line and we sat ourselves at the bar area. The place is small, but nice and clean. I do like the set up a lot as it feels quaint and simple. You can see the chef cooking right in front of you similar to a sushi bar. Service here is limited so you would need to ask for water and sauces and services in general. I ordered the chicken and waffles and while the food was good, I was a bit disappointed that the chicken was more of chicken tenders from a packet rather than fresh battered deep friend chicken for the price that you pay. My husband ordered Machacha and eggs scrambled and it was pretty good. The fresh fruits were also pretty fresh so that was nice and coffee was delicious. Overall I would go again because I want to support locals small businesses, but I probably will try something else on the menu. read more

Let me say first that the service was great. My friend had the denver omelette and she said it was very good. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which is my go to, whenever I try a new place. It was not what I expected. It was a red sauce, like enchilada sauce, over 2 eggs on top of 2 tostada shells which hard bacon on top. I didn't like it at all. Such a cute little local spot. Very friendly service, very good food, and great sized portions. I have family that lives near lemon grove and likes to support our local businesses. They love their food. And now I do as well. I have had their BLT on wheat with onion rings and it was very good, huge rings! I guess I chose a good cheat meal! Their burritos are huge and if you look at the prices they are much better than our taco shops now. I love to support local/ mom n pop/POC businesses as much as possible. Especially here in LG. This city has grown so much and is finally on the map with some recognized restaurants, so definitely come and support this place next time you're craving some comfort food and great service. Can't say enough aboout this hidden gem in LG. Been here a bunch times, so I already know, but if you're looking for a fresh breakfast joint this is the spot. They have a little bit of everything to offer from chilaquiles to a bacon cheeseburger . Had breakfast there with my wife this morning. I got the machaca plate with floor tortillas, which also came with refried beans. Wife had the short stack of pancakes, which were gigantic (sorry didn't take a pic). Everything came straight off the flat top piping hot, even the tortillas got the same treatment as they were hot to the touch. It's just a better quality of food & a fantastic breakfast spot. Walked over here after while I was getting my car serviced at the Honda dealership nearby after reading the reviews and looking at the menu and wasnt disappointed. The steak chilaquiles were on point and the red sauce was really flavorful. I go to PV once a year and have my fav little whole in the wall joints I go to breakfast at this meal was on par, even the refried beans were a step above the normal ones you get here in SoCal. This is a hidden gem in Lemon Grove! Quaint sized dining area but the service and food were incredible. We were greeted by the "Godfather" himself, who also prepared the food and repeatedly checked on us. Everything smelt tasty with the blend of American and Mexican breakfast dishes. This place has a fitting name. It's a family run business and it shows because they are definitely cooking from the heart. I had the machaca breakfast burrito, and let me tell you, their machaca is not like everyone else. It has a little read chile in it, as a result, it offer a red color similar to chorizo. At any rate, the burrito was not only large but packed with delicious flavors and textures. I loved it. The house prepared beef was abundant and tender. It was lightly seasoned but got most of its flavor, not only from the natural beef flavor, but from the red chile sauce cooked into the beef. It was delicious. The burrito also came with scrambled eggs and some onions. The only thing that I did not notice was the green peppers in the mix. The flour tortilla was very good too, and so were the house hot sauces that they offer. Service was very friendly and welcoming. They offer breakfast and lunch. They are closed on Mondays. read more
