Kevin is a great instructor. He helped me improve immediately. I am very new to golf, and was swinging on top of the ball quite a bit. I was frustrated with hitting little dribbler shots. I don't seem to have that problem too much since training with Kevin. He helped me pick out new irons, my old set I bought off Craigslist and was missing clubs. I am a 7 month old golfer and have been going to KP at The Golf Spot for about 2 months and have learned so much about the game. KP is like a doctor if a doctor had a giant screen where he could walk you through what ails you, why it ails you, and how to remedy it. He is a great teacher, communicator, and facilitator of the game. Before I went to KP, I felt pretty good about my swing. But boy has it been illuminating to see how much I wasn't doing and how much I could grow. He introduced me to core fundamentals I had never come across and he taught them in ways that no YouTube video could. He uses video, data, and examples to help convey his teachings. My husband and I reserved a stall to play virtual golf last week. We had a great time and wouldn't hesitate to return. However, It would've been really helpful to have some sort of tips sheet or intro. Neither of us had played virtually before and most of our time was spent figuring out how things worked (ex: changing the club on the screen that we were going to hit with, etc). I totally understand there's probably not enough demand to have someone dedicated to this role in person, and I would never expect an instructor to step away from a lesson they're giving but our experience would've been better with some guidance or intro. I paid a guy who previously worked here a large amount of money for a package of lessons. I made it to about 3 lessons with him before he passed away unexpectedly. The people at golf spot were literally worthless in helping return the funds. I took a loss that was well over 1K!!! And not to mention...these lessons were the first lessons I ever paid for as a new golfer, the people at golf spot didn't even care. I was never offered any help from these people. I walked in hacking, slicing and having Chris wanting to wear catchers gear while I hit balls. I left making solid contact and feeling comfortable enough to play 18 holes. I just started swinging a golf club in January 2024 and after 4 lessons with Chris Curnutt, he had me years ahead of where I would've been if I had just kept hitting balls at the range. Kev is the best coach in the Bay Area hands down. He guided me from a 23 index with a dusty swing all the down to a 6 index in 2 years. Did my evaluation over the weekend and can't say enough about this place. I'm only a few lessons in, but can already feel a huge change in the efficiency and consistency in my swing since I first started working with Craig at The Golf Spot. I've taken golf lessons from other coaches, but none with such a modern approach - Craig uses video, Trackman, and other training aides in really effective ways to help make just the right amount of change in your mechanics vs. trying to break everything down and start over. With other lessons I've often found that things "click" during the lesson, but then when I get back to the range or course I have no idea what to do to reproduce that feeling. Craig does the work to send you home with "homework" - swing thoughts, drills to practice, etc so you can actually improve when you practice, and will quickly respond in the CoachNow app with tips if you send video of your practice sessions. I recently got serious with my golf game and decided to go all-in and prepaid 15 lessons with Kevin Paule (KP). He was recommended to me by a coworker who was constantly taking my lunch money on the golf course, so I decided it was time to take it back. After three lessons within about 2 months and a little bit of practice on what I learned from the lessons with KP, I was striking the ball the best I've ever been. I carded a personal record with an 81 at a local course and a 33 on a par 30 9 hole. I also scored my second ever eagle on a short par 4 (258) with my 3 wood from the tee. My three wood before KP never flew over 250 and usually got me into trouble when I got the courage to try to play it. If you want to break your PR or learn the game for the first time, KP's simple concepts and easy-to-grasp teaching style will take you there. It also doesn't hurt that his new state-of-the-art facility is every golfer's dream man cave. I can't wait until it's fully open for the public! Our son has been taking lessons from Craig. To say there's been improvement his game would be an understatement. Our son literally improves after every lesson...which is just so cool. The tech (which is state of the art and just so damn fun) coupled with the ability to teach from both Kevin and Craig, is exactly why we just signed on for 10 more. We played 18 holes last weekend and my 12 year old was shooting 5d and 6s. I wasn't lol, but he was. Blew my mind. Our boy trusts Craig. Big deal. The technology really is unbelievable. The simulator they run is like...I don't know...the future(?). After the last lesson my kid played three holes at Pebble Beach! Virtually, but still. It's beautiful really... Everything is filmed and brought back in real time so they can see exactly what's going wrong and what's going right.
