I enjoyed the pickleball class series (Ben was a very knowledgeable teacher), but want to flag Lifetime's cancellation policy. One of six classes (~$34 value) was cancelled due to rain. The only makeup options offered were two dates in a very short window, which didn't work with my schedule. I asked for either an extended makeup window or a refund and was told neither was possible. If your schedule isn't quite flexible, be aware you may lose the value of a class due to circumstances outside your control. read more

Have been taking their group lessons for a few seasons now and will go back (when it warms up a bit). Instructors have been great and no issues with scheduling. Front office has been very helpful as well on a few occasions. Another review mentioned the ball machine was gone...well as of Sept 1st it was back. Not sure how long it was missing. Getting a reservation can be tough as it is shared with the pickleball court, but it does exist. Plan to continue my lessons in the spring. read more

The tennis and pickleball ball instructors are pretty good They do get full fast and that's a hurdle . my only suggestion is that the drill classes at night have a little more playing time for completing a match, but in general pretty good ALot of the classes are back to back and at least business is doing well there. First time here today for my 10-year-old's first tennis lesson and we were pleasantly surprised at the facilities. The instructor was pretty kind and patient and I feel like my son really got the hang of it even if it was his first class. The pro shop that they have had a variety of shoes, rackets for both Pickleball and tennis and other things that you may need equipment wise. The staff were also very friendly and helpful and helped my son pick out a racket that he really liked. I'm excited for what's to come with the continued lessons. Ball machine is no longer available at Heather Farms facility. I was informed today by the office that they weren't going to replace the ball machine, due to the facility being too small. What a fun way to start a Saturday morning. Yes peoples a 8AM Roll Call. Can you say rise and shine?! Soooo, the guy and I decided to take up tennis lessons to jump start our road to exercise and health, and what a better way than learning how to shhhhwing the racket. I forgot our coach's name, but she was sweet, knowledgeable and patient with the novice. By the end of our session I knew I'd never be Serena, but refuse to quit like Edgar. We will definitely be back because we are signed up until August and because I respect the workout. I give the place 2 loves up! read more

BEWARE 0 STARS Lifetime Activities is bad for the public and engaging in extremely shady behaviors. 1) Lifetime Activities is abusing public courts Lifetime Activities has a strange and seemingly undocumented relationship with Walnut Creek public tennis courts. Starting in 2022, Lifetime Activities began reserving public courts across WC for entire weekends (9AM-3PM Sat + Sun) for private club members to play USTA matches. This behavior continues today, with Lifetime Activities blocking off entire public courts for private club play every weekend. Note: these are public first come, first serve courts, but Lifetime Activities has decided that they can reserve all courts for their private club members during peak weekend times. On weekends, club members show up early to warm up in droves, kick off locals, kids, and me with a leaf blower to "prep" the courts, and then remain on the courts well after their 3PM reservation times. Thanks to Lifetime Activities public tennis courts in Walnut Creek are effectively not available on weekends. 2) Lifetime Activities management is terrible and shady David R. is the manager. When confronted about Lifetime Activities reserving public courts all weekend (remember, the public is not able to reserve courts - only Lifetime Activities) David R. was extremely dismissive, and lied about the reservation process, reason for reserved play, and duration. David originally explained that reserved courts for USTA play was because Heather Farms courts were getting resurfaced. This already is completely unfair to the public. 2 years after the resurfacing has been completed, Lifetime Activities continues to reserve public courts all weekend for private club play. Additionally, Lifetime Activities is extremely disorganized (not surprising given their terrible management). When calling their office, you never get a straight answer, and no staff is informed about the "reservation" system or why Lifetime Activities needs to reserve public courts in the first place. 3) The club members are not great people I can't speak to all members, but the ones I interacted with during league play were snobby, gave strong preferential treatment, and drove a very "our way or the highway" culture around the club. I tried league play for 1 year at Lifetime Activities and it ruined tennis as a sport for me :( One Lifetime Activities member in particular, who is very prominent within league and USTA play, is a known cheater. I have emails where they asked to fabricate USTA match play scores (in their favor) because they had limited availability to schedule matches. If you find your local WC public courts unavailable on weekends because Lifetime Activities has reserved the courts for USTA play, you will see this member's name in the reservation list. BEWARE. 4) If you are looking for a private tennis club to play at more often, don't give these people a dime I did play at Lifetime Activities courts at Heather Farms for 1 year trying to get into league play. During that year, court availability was terrible, their pro shop was not helpful, and the culture of the members was not enjoyable. Very elitist; the only people getting courts consistently were the same small group of friends that were active in the USTA. If you weren't an established member on a WC USTA team, you were not welcome on the courts. Please, do not support this organization. They are actively abusing public resources so their privileged, elitist, members can treat local courts as their personal space for USTA matches, the club members are known cheaters and not great people, and the club itself provides a poor tennis environment thanks to the shady, sketchy, incompetent management. I am actively talking to Walnut Creek Parks Dept., and city council to have these people removed from their positions so that we can get our public courts back. Do Walnut Creek a favor and help get rid of these crooks. There are many Yelp & Google reviews corroborating Lifetime Activities' predatory behavior. read more

Extremely disappointed in the youth tennis lessons. The instructor we had was extremely unenthusiastic and terrible at engaging the kids. He seemed bored and like he didn't want to be there. In fact, he didn't even show up for our final class! We waited around for about 20 minutes before finding out they couldn't even get a hold of him and had no one to step in and teach. Lifetime offered a credit for the class over a week later, even after I requested money back because I have no interest in signing my son up again for such an abysmal experience. They're insisting on only giving me back credit, but I will update after I get a reply to my last email where I requested yet again for money back on the last class... read more

I live and play at the Sunnyvale Tennis Center, but had the chance to play at the Walnut Creek Tennis Center during the USTA 50 mixed sectionals. There is a nice clubhouse, and place to eat snacks, and clean bathrooms. The courts however vary a lot according to their location within the center. Court partitions, benches, windscreens and lights featured. Very few or no benches for the audience to watch the players in action. Many of the back courts have cracks in the concrete, leading me to believe they haven't been resurfaced in a long time. A few of the courts are severely slanted, the slope going down from one player's side to the opponent's side. This is usually done for drainage purposes, but the slope at STC is on the doubles alley side, not the baseline side as here at WCTC. So one side is serving uphill, and the other side is serving downhill. This is a poor design, and not often seen at USTA league quality tennis centers. Also the court I played on in mid day had a tree on the west side, leading to shadows on the court. A good tennis landscape designer would have known not to plant trees on the south side or west side , but the north side of the court, as they were originally done at STC. My partner had difficulty returning hard serves going into the shadows, created by the tree. Another poor design. During a match one player had to have assistance getting a ball which had become lodged between the baseboard and the bottom of the fence, between two courts back to back on different levels of ground. Modern designed courts don't have baseboards, but steel fences going right down the sides of concrete court, below the level of the court. On the positive side, the place has plenty of parking to accomodate an overflow crowd, a rarity these days at USTA league sectionals read more

On a hot afternoon with temperatures in the 90s we stopped in here after the vending machine outside ate our soda money. I had my own refillable water bottle but decided to check out the ice cream. Husband wanted a Gatorade and our friend bought a bottle of water for $1. I saw Otter Pops at the bottom of the freezer, and after I had one in-hand, I saw a sign saying they weren't for sale. Bummer; it sounded more refreshing than a creamy ice cream treat. No treat for Amy. We asked about court rentals ($8) - not bad, but most public high schools have beautifully maintained courts that you can use for free (when school's not in session). We like Ygnacio Valley H.S.'s courts I worked at the Lafayette Tennis Club when I was in high school. It was much bigger than this, but this little shop had cold drinks on a hot day, and that was awesome. read more

i got my daughter enrolled here. i saw a gender bias happening. the girls were handed off to a not so good coach while the boys had been coached and guided well. the girls had a female coach who was mostly chit chatting rather than teaching techniques. it is so disappointing for us to get our kid enrolled at this center. read more

I took tennis lessons for about 6 months last year, before they were under new "ownership." Apparently, all of Walnut Creek has a new tennis operator now. I've since moved out the area, so I'm not sure how things have changed, but I hope the staff at the Tennis Center has stayed the same. I was really happy with my lessons with Coach Mack. He is super nice and helpful and there has been a definite improvement in my game. Okay, let's me honest, I had NO game when I started and now I can hold my own and am no longer the worst player out there :) Group lessons were a bargain at $100 for 6 and Coach Mack was very good at keeping class sizes pretty small. The courts are well lit and I don't remember how much they cost to reserve, but I think it was around $8. In the summer you can go after hours when it's still light out and play for free as well. There isn't much in the actual pro shop, but it looks like the new management is revamping that. read more

Lessons for my 10 year old were fine in Walnut Creek. Giving them 2 stars because of their ridiculous and unfriendly make-up policy! For the cost of these classes, at least 1 makeup class should be offered!! My son was sick and missed a class, yet they do not hold an extra class for make-ups, nor made any effort whatsoever to accommodate him in another (non-full) class when I asked. This tennis club is a gem. Good facilities, good coaches, friendly and helpful staff, well managed and reasonable prices. They encourage the use of the ball machine which is a great learning tool. Lots of classes for children, beginners and intermediate adults. Many leagues in men's, women's and mixed doubles at different levels. Also cardio/tennis and doubles strategy while playing with a coach. Coaches are qualified to help more advanced players as well. Pretty welcoming and friendly. WCRC is a mecca for tennis enthusiasts of all levels. My daughters took lessons and dragged me onto the courts to hit with them. I began to play with other players of all ages and became involved in USTA leagues. It's a great way to meet neighbors and enjoy an adrenaline rush. I would give them 5 stars because the courts are in good condition and the staff is very helpful. However, I removed 1 star because of the popularity courts it can be difficult to reserve during prime time. read more

I'm a relatively new "pass holder", and my game is nothing to brag about. But I am totally pleased with the Lifetime Tennis Center at Heather Farms. My son has joined me for lessons (past full year), also enjoying his improving play. First, the pro (Joe N.) is a great guy, and he seems to be everywhere... lessons, round robin doubles play for all-comers, etc. On occasion, if you know your way around the special events, you'll get to play with him. I learned about a good kick serve the hard way. :-) Staff in the office is a relaxed and polite crew. Loaner rackets, refreshments, restringing, etc. Fun! read more

I was very disappointed with this tennis experience that my 6 year old had there. The instructor was very cold and distance. We didn't even know what his name was. Very bossy and rude to kids. When I relayed my concerns to the office, they just said I was wrong and didn't want to address anything I said. They way my 6 year old was treated made him not want to play tennis. He refused to go to the classes after about 5 times because he felt so rejected and defeated. Very bad instructors. read more

I've had my racquets strung there, my son has played on leagues there, etc, etc. Tonight, my 14 year old son and I after watching the Aussie Open, run to Las Lomas to play for an hour. Lights are off. We go to Heather farms, thinking they'll charge us $8 for half an hour but what the heck. I forgot my wallet, oops, and red faced, I say, do you mind if we play? I promise to call tomorrow with my credit card number, heck you probably have it on file somewhere. We are only going to play for 25 minutes and you'll be $8 richer tomorrow. Nope, sorry. No can do. I'm like really? For 25 minutes, with only 2 people on the courts, you won't just let me and my kid play? I'll leave you my name, number, etc? Nope, sorry. A little trust and leeway for a ten year customer, standing there with her kid, embarrassed that she forgot her wallet, would have gone a long way.
