    Amy S.

On a hot afternoon with temperatures in the 90s we stopped in here after the vending machine outside ate our soda money. I had my own refillable water bottle but decided to check out the ice cream. Husband wanted a Gatorade and our friend bought a bottle of water for $1. I saw Otter Pops at the bottom of the freezer, and after I had one in-hand, I saw a sign saying they weren't for sale. Bummer; it sounded more refreshing than a creamy ice cream treat. No treat for Amy. We asked about court rentals ($8) - not bad, but most public high schools have beautifully maintained courts that you can use for free (when school's not in session). We like Ygnacio Valley H.S.'s courts I worked at the Lafayette Tennis Club when I was in high school. It was much bigger than this, but this little shop had cold drinks on a hot day, and that was awesome.

5 things that make this gym stand out to me compared to others:…read more1. Really attentive coaches - as someone new to weights, it was important for me to feel safe. There is clear instruction in each class and then the coaches are constantly looking out for our form and correcting us. 2. Class times galore - 8 weekday classes from 6am to 7:30pm, knowing any level can go to any class, plus weekend mornings. So many options! 3. Something new every month - from a clinic to a social hangout to an unusually insane workout, there is always something to spice up the month 4. Being treated as an individual - I don't know how Nabil and most the coaches remember everyone's name. It helps a lot to be individually encouraged and asked and advised on our personal goals 5. Connection - Nabil sends weekly emails that are thoughtfully put together and pretty amusing. It's nice to get the big picture that feels like a personal email, not a corporate mailer. This is consistent with the general vibe that made me feel immediately welcome and like I had joined a community with the common goal to live healthier and have fun, far beyond getting fit at a gym. Pretty glad I found this place.

The two coaches that stood out to me were Bri and Kaydee as they were super encouraging and willing to meet me where I was at since I am super new to CrossFit. Nina, one of the people went there, always made me feel welcome when I went. I had my good days there where I felt a sense of community and other days where I did not feel that at all where I felt excluded. But maybe it was just me. Parking is a little tricky your first time there but other than that it's pretty straight forward. Other than that, it's a pretty good place to go to for CrossFit right before you go to downtown Walnut Creek.

Pros: facility is solid it has a lot of potential activities and different ways kids can grow and learn gymnastics. They also have a play area which is clutch for dealing with kids who don't have class at the same time. Cons: teachers look often inexperienced and turnover is common. First few months we had two younger but quite vocal and directed coaches. Now it's tricky. In my other class we have more experienced coaches, but midway through the class they tend to lose focus and kids are sorta all over the place. They have some odd rules and enforce or change them at what seems random. Sit in the wrong spot? They'll announce a general warning not to do that. Bring your kids to the door that they used to let them in last week that without warning was changed to the other one? You bet that's gonna be a public service announcement about you messing up. Overall: experience is going to be class dependent especially with the teachers. If I knew there was a clearly better option I'd probably take it. As of now I believe USC is probably the best option in the area.

My 9-year-old son, a county qualified swimmer, a first-generation swimmer, first year on the team, faced repeated exclusion by team members. These behaviors seem to reflect a culture of entitlement and favoritism that is passively tolerated by coaches and the leadership team (swimmers parents). Despite raising these concerns directly with board representatives, I encountered zero accountability, and derogatory remarks about 10U boys, when a board member called them "a**holes" with her dismissive tone. Such responses are unprofessional and contribute to a hostile environment that goes against the values of respect, fairness, and inclusion that the team claims to uphold. Clear double standards appear to prevail, allowing some swimmers, particularly those with parent allies on the board--to taunt, marginalize, or exclude others without repercussions. The overall culture fosters exclusivity and hierarchy rather than a safe, supportive environment based on skill, effort, and sportsmanship.

My favorite place to go!!! ALO =)…read more Okay, so I was supposed to leave this review months ago, but here I am. Sorry you guys. I love this location, it's always SUPER CLEAN and VERY AESTHETICALLY PLEASING and these are things I go for. Parking is tough tho, they do have a parking garage but idk I hate parking in their parking garage for some reason. So, I park across the street from the shopping center inside Safeway parking, but you guys are not supposed to do this lol. Anyways, they accept cash and card. They are always fully stocked on items at this location, I have been numerous of time and they have always had everything I needed and wanted this is a HUGE PLUS. I wish I can remember the sales associate that helped me with everything when I was just last there, I want to say her name was BRITTANY, she is literally a gem and super nice/cute. I also met their manager, TAYLOR I believe his name was and he even shook my hand, this spoke VOLUMES to me and he was EXTREMELY NICE. I have to point this out because of a lot of managers are not ever twice nice, or people friendly, let alone want to shake your hand. But he was everything and more and he seemed so well put together himself, ima skin girl girly, and remind you this is from months ago, I went and forgot to leave me review but I still remember how clear his skin was. So shoutout to him!!!! Now, I have to give only one con I sort of don't feel, when I come and I look like a bum lol and want to be in & out. I am not treated as nice or friendly by some of the "pretty girls" they turn into "mean girls" and I really dislike this, we shouldn't treat people let alone your customers a certain way because of how they look when they come in. Please do not profile us, you don't know who we are, what we are going through, and our clothes/looks does not define us as a person or how much we are going to spend in your store because how we look when we come in. But other than this, I love them. But I have to give them 4 stars just because of this. Check them out!

This is the closest Alo location to me, and I've visited many times. Out of all my visits, I've only had one truly great experience - and that was back in October 2025. Most of the time, no one greets me or asks if I need assistance, which is why I end up doing about 90% of my shopping online and only come in-store for returns or exchanges. During this visit, I was quickly browsing and trying things on when a tag must have come off one of the items. I was in a bit of a rush, but I'm always intentional about what I select. The associate working the fitting room never introduced herself and made me feel uncomfortable, as if I was being treated with suspicion rather than as a customer. I'm not sure if the reaction was due to my race, the tag, or something else, but the interaction felt unwelcoming and unprofessional. As someone who shops the brand regularly and is part of their "All Access" rewards program - and even gets invited in for personal shopping - this experience was disappointing. I'll likely stick to online shopping moving forward. Alo, there's definitely an opportunity here to better train staff on customer service and how to treat loyal customers.
