Beautiful exterior. You can only really see the front through the rod-iron gates, even on a cloudy day it's lovely. The State Troopers assigned here are friendly, helpful & cute to boot. So, stop by & say howdy to the Governor. He's only a block from the Capital building.

You need to plan ahead, at least a week, take a tour here and they only have tour from 10 ~ 2, Tues/Weds/Thurs. Some month during renovation, there will not be any tours at all. You can email them, at Mansion.Tours@tspb.state.tx.us (for some reason, the phone number they provided didn't work for me), and provide you full name, DOB and Driver license. Once you passed the background check, they will email you the confirmation. If you are taking the Capital Building tour as well, you can park in the Visitor Parking Garage, the first two hours are free and it is just a block from the Capital building and two blocks from the mansion. The tour is only 20 mins and you can only see the bottom four rooms. Two interesting facts I found fascinating about Texas governor's mansion: - It is green certified building and handicap accessible - In the "Green" room, GW Bush watched the 2000 election Of course there are more, but I wouldn't spoil them for you.

Gorgeous inside! Informative tours! Very nice security and docents. I recommend visiting. You do need to book well in advance and have your drivers license. When you get there, there are no bathrooms and you cannot carry a bag of any kind. Cameras, cell phones and IDs only. The mansion has been beautifully restored since the fire. Fortunately non of the furniture, drapery, collections were destroyed because when the fire happened it had been emptied for a planned restoration.

Let me first state that if you want to take the tour you need to make sure you get your application for reservation in at least a week before you want to go. They'll need your firstborn child (JK!)-actually your drivers license, birthdate and full name to be cleared for the 30 minute tour. Once you're cleared, you'll get info on when and where to go. Don't be late!! And be sure to use the necessary room before you go (there are no facilities for public use at the mansion!). I was not totally impressed. We only got to see the 5 downstairs rooms, only saw pictures of the upstairs bedrooms even though not currently in use. The addition in the back is where the governor and family live, which we did not see (understandably). Our guide stumbled on her presentation several times but may have been new to it. If you have unlimited time and just really have a burning desire to visit, then do. Otherwise, may just want to spend your time at the capitol and grounds.

Kudos to Alamo for being the pioneer in offering food and drink while watching movies. While they…read morestarted with pencil and paper ordering, they have now upgraded to scanning a QR code to order online through the menu. Very .easy and convenient! Not only do they have good food and "bottomless" popcorn bowls, they also sponsor fun preview events to their special Victory fan club members, of which I am one. Last night they previewed the movie "Power Ballad," an excellent film starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Often they have special guests to introduce the movie and offer fun contests. At the Power Ballad preview, they awarded a guitar to the first person to jump up and name the director (John Carney). I didn't win. The theater is definitely geared to film buffs and not the normal blockbuster movie goer, with posters from current and classic films decorating the walls. They even have the scary twins from "The Shining" in one of the hallways. You won't see that at any multiplex movie theater!

Alamo used to be the best in the world, then corporate parasites went to town on it and now it…read morecompletely blows. $160 for 3 people to see a movie. The prices are just insane. You can't order from a menu anymore, only an app, which DIDNT WORK, so I had to leave the theater to order and flag down some random employee in the hallway. I've been going to Alamo since they opened in the 90s, now I'll never go back. The greedy new owners completely ruined it.

Stop #5 The Austin TX mural tour has been so much fun. My friends are enjoying getting to know…read moreAustin, TX better. The "I Love You So Much" mural is one of Austin's most photographed and widely recognized pieces of street art. It is located on the side of Jo's Coffee at 1300 South Congress Avenue in the city's South Congress neighborhood. The mural features a simple message, "I love you so much", painted in red cursive letters on a light green wall. The mural has become a symbol of love we have for each other, connection to each other as well as the connection to the city, and Austin's love for all. The mural was created in 2010 by Amy Cook, a local Austin musician. According to the word on the streets, Cook spray painted the message as a heartfelt expression of love for her partner, Liz Lambert, who is affiliated with Jo's Coffee. Now this sign serves a love note to all that visit Austin.

It's weird I have never reviewed this mural. Going to this Jo's location is one of my favorite…read morethings to do. It is, in fact, my favorite Jo's location. The mural is just perfection. Simple, elegant, profound, and fun. I can't even begin to count how many times I have been to this mural in the last decade or so. This along with other murals on South Congress and in Austin is where I take visitors from other cities. Well, I take them to this one only if I Love Them So Much!
