I remember walking around veins with a friend a few years back. I had been in a serious car accident and he asked me if I ever tried to get my medical marijuana license yet. I told him no and he told me that I was in for a treat and we walked up and down the beach looking at the many medical places that we could apply at. So I don't smoke and this was more for entertainment purposes than anything. We also decided that since I am a Californian, it is always good to carry a card with you at all times, just in case. Having a medical marijuana card in California is like a right of passage now anyways. So, we came a crossed the green Dr who said they could get me in there that day and promised speedy service with my medical card. They told me that the card would be $90 out of the door, but it made more since to get the 1 year prescription instead of the 3 month one so I went ahead and gave them $150. Before I went in to talk to the doctor, I filled out some quick patient paperwork. It was normal paperwork like any other. I went in and told him why I needed the medical card and about my accident. He signed my paperwork and pushed me through. Next I had to take my photo and they handed me a certificate until my actual card arrived. I got the card in the mail about three weeks later. Upon getting my certificate, I also got a coupon for a free blunt or editable and well, I chose to get the blunt. I did get my medical card in the mail as promised and well, I took it to another dispensary and it was good there so there service was what they said it was. The whole place was decorated with pot leaves which was pretty cool and they had a chart on the wall that explained every strain on the wall and what to use it for.. Theft by deception at its finest. I'm used to something being for tourist because I live in San Diego for years. We signed up for a fake card that does not work at any other dispensaries. We were charged prices that are literally eight times the amount of the original charge of what it should be. They even charged me for merchandise. I never received. I reached out the next day because I noticed extra charges on my account even charges that were originally declined and they had literally tried to send those charges back over so I'm like what's going on because obviously the price that I was told I was being charged were not the prices I was charged and then in addition to not even receive the card they give you a certificate that doesn't work and in addition to that when I had to downgrade some of my order for prescription products, they charge separately, but also try to charge for products I never received. So if you went in there and got two gummy's and a tincture that's not really legally anything they are going to charge you a massive amount of money on your credit card the next day even though they will tell you it's a different price. According to the cannabis board, these people are not new at this. They've been doing it a while and the problem is people don't file enough complaints. So if you wanna follow a complaint, look up the state board of cannabis, regulation, and email them. The reason they don't bill you from their actual office is because they wanna make sure you don't get your money back. Don't give them any cash only use credit card. If they do that to you, then you can at least file dispute. It seems to be something they do all the time. From what I'm learning this is the way they operate. And by the way, you can go to Koi CBD and get the same products for 1/3 of the price from what I found out. In addition, many of the actual legitimate dispensaries do you have a program for people who are disabled or first responders or those who are low income to get a 20 to 25% discount on the already lower prices. I found out some of the products they are selling are not regulated well and they are not potent. The products I was sold were expired. My husband ended up getting sick. Just so you know for that $40 Certificate it ended up costing us over $1100 in that place. Be mindful that none of these places are regulated. Went to the Venice Beach Boardwalk and decided to purchase some cannabis. Didn't know the area and was looking for Green Goddess but found this place instead thinking all shops would be relatively the same. Seen where they have medical cards for $40 which I wasn't really interested in was just looking for a 510 or disposable vape. He pulled out this disposable that I could already tell was counterfeit thc vape said it was $50. The "doctor" there assured me it was THC-Delta 9 approved by the state of CA. I kept saying no I was not interested especially for that price. He kept pressuring me to get a medical card through them.  Needless to say I bought the vape at a major discount but later regretted it because it didn't positively affect me, made me sick and I threw it out. I want to look out for others that could possibly get scammed by this shady business. I looked on the CA Department of Cannabis Control website and they are no where to be found. I won't say it's a total scam, because you will leave there with a legal letter, BUT BEWARE IT'LL COST YOU PLENTY. As the other reviews state, the signs on the boardwalk outside the evaluation places say $40 big and loud, but once they make you wait for an extended period AFTER you've been seen by the doctor, they claim, "oh, our cashier computer is down, so this guy will walk you down to our other location to pay.."they then walk you down several blocks away to another location where they make you wait again. Finally, when you start to squirm, they take you in another room and show you the "price list", where they try to scam you for a photo id card, and other extras that you don't need. They charge $120 for the year long approval certificate, PLUS the $40 for the 2 minutes evaluation with the doc. $160 is a far cry from 40 bucks. Stay away from these predators and find a reputable place to get legal. These guys should be shut down. read more

I even asked the guy what is it out the door and he said $40 for the evaluation and $25 for the card so i thought ok $65 out the door for the card which i have been told by my friends is around the going rate at other places. But when you get there, the doctor sees you, actually which I should mention, is the doctor even saw me with 3 other guys in the room at the same time. A group diagnosis! haha They then took me to the room next door where they try to close you on the bait and switch prices. $80 for 3 months, $120 for 6 months and $160 for the year. She brought out some papers and said out of nowhere that it was 40 for the doctor, another 40 more for the 3 month card, another 40 for 6 months, another 40 for a year. I said, oh I thought this was 40 for the year. Please give me my ID back, I'm leaving. She told me if I left I would get a bill in the mail for over $100 for the visit with the doctor (who btw was coughing the entire time I saw him). I took out my phone and she said I couldn't make phone calls in there. I told her I was calling my lawyer. She told me, "We have over 10 different lawyers so you shouldn't even try"(!!!!) I told her to keep my ID, I'm going outside to call my lawyer. She wouldn't let me leave (technically this is kidnapping). At that point I was furious and had to scream at her over and over about their false advertising and about the medical reasons for me needing the card and not being able to afford their ridiculous prices. All three of The Green Doctor locations lead you to believe that you can obtain a letter in order to get Marijuana from the local dispensary for $40. Nothing could be further from the truth. Only the location East of Muscle Beach states starting at $40. Once you see the doctor, then your told after signing their statement in front of the office manager. That its only for growing Marijuana at home. Then they tell you the letter may cost up to $200, and only for 3-6 months. After persistent complaining, I had to pay $80 for a letter that was good for one year. They tell you what you want to hear and lead you on, including paying an additional $25 for a Marijuana ID card. Better to get your pot from a friend, or wait a year when the laws change, unless you really need it. read more

E.C.M.M about a few miles away is your best option if your in the Venice area. The day after my visit I had been sad for falling for their plan and paying $193 for a yearly license. I don't even want to represent them when I go to dispensaries because most dispensaries know how fake their licenses are. I was convinced by a worker at a local shop that they were good and that they would hook me up, but their team is so disconnected that you will get pulled right in as another regular customer if you sign up. It's a well planned ripoff scheme. They even have fake customers working here claiming they got a $40 annual pass for a 215 card. (The minimum with evaluation and the basic documentation is $200+, preferably paid in cash) One of them is a chubby, stocky Mexican lady that will be sitting with you in the waiting room after your 5 minute evaluation. She will have another female with her and maybe a baby stroller, exclaiming OUT LOUD "ERMAGHERD I GOT A ANNUAL PASS FOR LESS THAN $80" to reinforce the claims that the signs say. The big sign out front is a lie. And you'll learn quickly when they have the other "doctor" the tall blonde lady tell you the real prices in what is basically a closet "office" (she is the "second doctor"). It's basically a factory that churns out "patients" for medical marijuana. I wanted to go back to Kush Doctor but apparently they were busted a really long time ago (got a certificate for only $80), a Green Doctor location even took their place next door! I think I will be going to either the mid-Valley or Inland Empire for my next road trips to renew. Medical green doctors on the Venice Boardwalk is a predatory operation. The medical evaluation for all of 5 mins is $40.00. Unknown and kept a secret is that once you get the eval you than need to wait 30 mins to an hour to be charged by the cashier. At this point what you thought was a $40.00 fee for a pot card becomes quite expensive. Luckily while waiting in the waiting area to pay the cashier I was forewarned that this was all about bargaining. What could of been a $200.00 fee for a one year pot card was talked down to $50.00.
