While I haven't been in a ton of guns shops in my life. I hope that they are all NOT like this place. It was very creepy. There was some lady posted up in the corner in a recliner, a TV, and a laptop. She was complete with dogs, cats, and even some angry bird with a bite warning. Seriously?!? WTF. She didn't smile or say hello, only stared... Anyway, back to the gun shop... It was old looking and very busy (Christmas Season). They where lots of people to help, just all creepy... The staff is friendly. Nice gun selection. The prices are on the high side. The reviews about a woman in the corner. It is true , their is this lady that sits in the corner with a computer. The front of the store consists of: dogs cats birds Tv recliner love seat some creepy woman gun accessories So you got to go by and see this place. You can seperate gun shops, generally into two categories. Helpful and inviting or Creepy and Jingoistic. This shop falls into the latter. While they had 4 other customers, guy behind counter seemed in a hurry to see "What I needed" which left me feeling rushed. I did not like my experience here. No one greets you when you arrive into the store. Next, I was interested in just buying some gun oil. They must have thought I was not aware of pricing or something? The worker had to manually ring up the sale on some calculator...and guess how much...$12 for 2 oz bottle of oil??? No way!!! Even though the lady on the couch in the middle of the store is a bit unorthodox like the other reviews state, these guys did a good job for me. I originally went to double barrel gun in Olive Branch, and those guys could not have done a worse job. Rude, aggressive, lying, everything there was just horrible. I went down the street to the Gun Exchange, explained everything that happened with double barrel, and they matched their price and made everything better. The owner actually treated me like a person, instead of saying that "You don't even belong in here" like the guy at Double Barrel told me. It's a shame when you almost have to bring in your DD-214 just to prove to a small business owner that you "belong" in his store. All in all, avoid double barrel, go to Gun Exchange. One word...BAD. Staff is rude and condescending. I felt like I had a clown suit on or something they way they looked at me when I stated that I was on a budget and was looking for something within a certain price range. Non-professional...I dont know how these guys are still in business. They need a lesson in manners and customer service. I am a veteran, and I will never go back and recommend others never set foot in this hole. Go to DOUBLE BARREL which is also in Olive Branch. The staff is awesome there. read more

The Gun Exchange in Olive Branch, MS is by far the best gun experience I have had in the Memphis area. I have tried several privately owned businesses that left a bad taste in my mouth from the largely overpriced to the cheap, underpowered and reloaded ammo they wanted to sell me for the price you would pay for personal defense ammo. I had been waiting on a Glock G30 for seven weeks from another local gun shop in Germantown and had had enough. I cancelled my order and got my money back. I went to the Gun Exchange and after taking the time to thoroughly check his distributors, Jeff located the gun and had it next day shipped to his store. Ordered on a Thursday and received on a Friday (one day later) after waiting for SEVEN WEEKS from the prior establishment. I was promptly greeted when I entered the store and Jeff was more than willing to hear what I proposed for a trade (which he gave me a VERY fair trade-in value), and we were able to come to a deal that we both felt good about. Then, feeling very satisfied with my purchase, I decided to purchase another gun Jeff had in stock already. Not only did Jeff go out of his way to give me a great deal on both guns, but he went out of his way to hand deliver them to my Memphis FFL for transfer of the handguns so I could pick them up the next day. The store is clean and well kept with a large selection of both relevant home defense handguns and elegant 1911s. The store is well stocked with both a large selection of long guns and handguns for hunting and personal defense. The ammunition in stock ranges from general plinking ammo to high-quality Hornady and Sig personal defense. I would say that the other reviewers are just up tight that they feel like prices are too high (which I can tell you they aren't), Jeff is willing to match any Academy Sports price that he has in stock. People don't understand that you need businesses like this because even though you may pay $10-20 more for a handgun or heaven forbid an extra $3 for a bottle of gun oil, supporting local business is the life-blood of this country and I would much rather spend an extra $50 on my gun (but I actually paid below Academy's price) and would gladly pay $5 more for gun oil for the amount of great customer service that I received. If you ever question that, ask the sales person at Academy where you send your gun if it malfunctions the first time you use it? They're going to tell you to send it back to the manufacturer (on your dime) because all sales are final and it's not their problem. When you are faced with that, then tell me you would rather pay $15 less for your personal defense weapon instead of supporting a local business that will stand behind the guns they sell. If I could give The Gun Exchange six stars I would, but as it is I can only give them five. And if you were wondering where I went with my other experiences, I will tell you: Keith Warner - High Priced Guns, Low Customer Service Arms Fair - They are terrible all the way around, Glock should pull their Blue Label dealership Range USA - Fairly nice staff, but you will pay an extra 5-10%, they seem to be very proud. Academy - Decent prices (Jeff will match), but overall knowledge base of staff is low. Classic Arms - Not the largest selection and not a Glock dealer, but overall good shop. Accent Guns and Loans - Some staff is nice, but inconsistent with pricing and their current stock. Couldn't even give me an accurate price to Cerakote my pistol, no one knew the actual price. Wal-Mart - To be honest, I won't step foot in one. The Gun Exchange - I won't go anywhere else. read more
