A complete scam. They are debiting my account for a Gym that has not be completed yet. And they can not give me an opening date either. There is not contact details(phone number) I can use to talk to a real person. And there BOT can not find me on there system, so I can not cancel! I thanks all I can do is take legal action to resolve this. Maybe then I will get a response. read more

Forgot your headphones? No problem! This place has the best music ever, better than my own playlists. Always plenty of treadmills (really all I care about). Lots of machines. Very affordable price. No complaints. Doesn't smell funny, isn't stuffy, good air conditioning. read more

Where do i start?? Lets me start from the entrance: The keypads stick when you type the numbers in making it difficult for members to enter. Moving on to the inside of the gym (I will have to bullet point the problems as there are so many) - The foam rollers in either the class or upstairs are dirty and old... very hygienic. - None of the equipments ever looks like it is cleaned as i could run my finger across many parts and my finger is instantly dirty... Lovely. - Walking past the managers office, they look really happy & seem like they enjoy their job (Sarcasm) - Into the changing rooms, the woman's hand dryer has not been working for 4 days now and it has only just had a sign put on it saying 'out of order' with no replacement object to dry our hands with, so i assume the wet hands go onto the equipment. - The calf press machine feels like it has not been oiled and has rust in the lower joint, which has not been noticed from the last 5 months, showing the quality control is below standard. - Closed for three days, i assume for painting and not cleaning as when I returned there was still dirt on the pull up bar attached to the squat rack. - The dumbbells are always greasy & need to weigh more from some of the comments I've overheard in the gym. The company should develop with the time and listen to the feedback rather than using the 'what we think is best' approach. - The gym has WAY to many members for it to facilitate. This is definitely a health and safety issue when there is 50 people in the free weight area all being super close to each other. - The bench press is the worst I've ever encountered. The lower pin will never be used by anyone and i assume taller people will struggle when the pin in by their chest already. - The mirrors by both squat racks are cracked and have been covered by tape for months. - The mirrors have a slit in the middle (inside the squat racks) making them pointless for anyone who looks in them when doing any exercise as it distorts the middle of your body ruining form. Might as well not have any mirrors in front of them. - There are not enough olympic bars or weight disks to facilitate for the amount of members there, so when you arrive you might as well have a waiting area before you have a turn. - Benches in the weight area have missing 'yellow pins' to be able to move the height of the seat or bench angle. Again been like this for weeks. - Clips are broken on machines - There needs to be weight trees to put the weight disks on, as it is impossible to grab any disks when people are working out on any of the olympic bar stations. - The floor in the free weight area is breaking apart making it a trip hazard. - The floor is so spongy that when you squat or deadlift you sink into the floor, ruining the lift... where are the olympic lifting floors in the correct places? - In the evening it is boiling within the gym, leaving us thinking 'is there any temperature regulation' & in the day time it is freezing.... consistency please. - The shoulder press machine (by the vending machines) still has a broken seat adjuster, again been like this for a month now. - The benchpress and squat rack (not the power cage) needs to be swapped over, so it is possible to do over head press without hitting the supporting beam above. - I would suggest a 'suggestions box' so the company will listen to customer complaints. - Seen many people trip over the step up to the free weight area... marked with no tape or warning sign.... healthy and safety yet again. Overall, the company needs to focus more on: health & safety, quality control, customers and improvements. I understand that the quality matches the price as most things do in life nowadays. It wouldn't take millions to improve, but it could be SO much better. If you are looking for a gym to go for a run and 'stay healthy' - (which is not done through endless hours of cardio) - then this is the place for you. Hopefully the company is able to read this and act upon it. P.s readers: If you are keen on lifting or play sport, go to a different gym, it'll be worth the extra money. read more

i have never used another gym so have nothing to compare it with but here goes my thoughts. from my induction onwards i have really enjoyed using the gym in Guildford part of the gym group. the staff are very helpful and always on hand to offer advice or support within a very relaxed atmosphere everywhere i look there are very happy faces (after the grimacing faces of good sessions) the equipment is easy to use on the settings and there is a wide variety for cardio and muscular work. and i have never had to wait to use any equipment other than when someone is finishing their reps. as a beginner I'm very pleased with the gym itself being open 24 hours and only costing me £20 a month on a non contact basis, non contract was what took me there initially i don't like the thought of being tied to one gym for 12 months. the cleanliness of the shower/changing facilities is excellent. i may of said it is a good gym for beginners but the fact remains that there are a lot of people who are in extremely good shape and must of being using gyms for a long time and its still working for them. they say the gym is basic to keep the cost down by this they don't have a pool or saunas but that is no issue for me. all in all i can say I'm very pleased and can see myself being a member for a long time to come. read more

I've been using this gym since it opened a couple of years ago and I love it. I use the gym during the week very early in the morning when it's amazingly quiet. I usually go between 4 and 6am. I've occasionally been in the evening when it does get very busy but there's always equipment available. It's always really clean when I visit, the cleaners come every morning to clean the entire gym, I know because I see them every day I go! The changing rooms are great, the showers are amazing, massive cubicles and the water is always a good temperature. There are plenty of plugs and mirrors too. The lockers could be a bit bigger but I just use 2 when I have a lot of stuff with me. I haven't had many encounters with the staff as they're not usually there when I go, but when I have spoken to them they have been friendly and helpful. They even provided a chain cutter at 6am one morning when I couldn't open the padlock on my locker! I love the upstairs part of the gym with the smaller weights and cable machine, I like to think of it as the unofficial women's weights area which is really nice as the downstairs weight section can be a bit intimidating. The most amazing thing about the gym is the price, £15.99 a month just makes me feel like I'M ripping THEM off! I must save that much in water bills each month from showering there rather than at home! I definitely recommend The Gym Group, although don't come between 4am and 6am because I'd like it to stay nice and quiet! read more

Ideal gym for me. I use the multi-site membership as I travel quite a lot and it's the same price as single-site membership in London. The Gym is open 24/7 so it's flexible to whenever I want to go to the gym. The equipment is decent, better than I expected actually, clean and there's plenty of it! I don't have much time for leisure so when I go to the gym I go to work out. No time for saunas or swimming or sitting in a lounge. It's always bugged me that I've paid a premium for these in the past, when I've never used them. I appreciate a gym that's cut these out and passed the saving on to the customer. Fits my lifestyle very well :) read more

Much respect to John Treharne for making this place a success. Reading the comment above I can fully understand why people love this gym so much. I like to go early in the morning when its almost empty, makes me feel like I have my own gym! And all for £15.99 a monthhmm can't complain really. I would like to see a selection of vending food on sale, such as sandwiches/apples etc as there isn't really anywhere nearby for a quick snack. P.s. I love the £2.50 towels! read more
