Overall, a very solid experience. The gym was clean and well cared for, the locker room was in good shape, and the showers were better than what I have experienced at a lot of gyms over the years; strong water pressure and consistent temperature, which is not something I take for granted. The staff really stood out. Friendly, approachable, and genuinely funny in a way that makes the place feel relaxed rather than corporate. At one point I was trying a piece of equipment I do not normally use and heard a dreaded "thunk." For a moment, I worried the infamous Lunk alarm would sound! I flagged down a staff member, who watched me for a moment, reassured me that my form was fine, joked that he hears the same thing at his own gym, and said he would make sure the machine got lubricated. Low-key, helpful, and exactly how that situation should be handled. My only frustration is less about this specific club and more about Planet Fitness as a brand. If you follow a structured routine and are used to certain machines, it can be frustrating to discover mid-workout that a specific piece of equipment simply is not available at a particular location. You end up wandering the floor trying to confirm whether it is missing or just hidden somewhere. I do not blame the franchisee; space is limited and equipment choices are real business decisions. But given how much Planet Fitness already leans into technology, it feels like a missed opportunity. A simple, up-to-date inventory of machines by location, accessible in the app or via QR code, would make life much easier for members who move between clubs. Despite that quibble, this was a strong visit, and I would absolutely work out here again when I am in the area.

Within a week I had the $15 monthly fee and the yearly fee taken out of my account, even though they told me I would not get charged until I can return. Needless to say, I will not be returning. During the time I went there though, I notice a huge turnover in staff, along with several popular machines out of service on a regular basis. I actually was warned about all of these issues, especially the payments, but I signed up anyway. My bad I guess I should have listened.

During my membership I found the facility to be quite unkept there was often dust everywhere and cracks in the flooring. It really was a bare-bones sort of facility in my opinion. If you dont mind spending a few more bucks you can have a gym right up the road that has a pool, full-size basketball court, steam room, sauna, spa like locker rooms with LCD tvs, tanning beds and state of the art cardio equipment. That is where I have been a member for years now. I have been a member here for years, and continue to watch the conditions deteriorate. I have notified management, and they always have the same response: "we let our cleaning company and maintenance team know about the issues" ... and then absolutely nothing happens. I haven't been able to use the steam room in weeks because the mold has gotten so bad and the stench is unbearable. There is hair, grime/dirt and refuse all over the floors, walls and benches which doesn't get cleaned up. There is an mold in the shower area ceiling, walls, and stalls/curtain which continues to grow worse every week. There are also flies in the shower area year round and they have been there for years. You can watch them crawl all over the ceiling and the stalls as you shower, and sometimes they land on you. I give Lu Brito credit for sitting down with me several months ago and acknowledging all the issues I pointed out in my previous review. He agreed that there was a big problem, and that he would be really keeping a close eye to make sure that the Men's locker room started to be cleaned again. He assured me that they would take a "proactive" approach instead of a "reactive" one. But basically, several small repairs were made to rotting or broken infrastructure, and absolutely nothing changed in terms of cleanliness. No lasting changes occurred as a result of that conversation which is why I am writing this update. I am appalled that the executive director Debbie Fringuelli continues to be passive towards these concerns and doesn't play a more active role in addressing the issues. The photos speak for themself. This is not a sanitary environment, and staff continues to gaslight by saying that "the locker room is cleaned nightly." You can literally observe the large cobwebs grow bigger over the mold which proves that is untrue. I have belonged to dozens of gyms in my life, all over the country. This is by far the most neglected facility I have ever been to. They recently raised rates (twice) and I seriously have no idea where that money is going but it is certainly not going towards cleaning or maintaining the facility. Bottom line is they need to clean up their act, and this facility. The male patrons of the Gleason YMCA deserve better.

Best part is that the sessions are only 45mins long, making it the best 45mins in the day for YOU. All levels of fitness can start here, the trainers show modifications to help out and challenge oneself. Focus meetings with the trainers help you stay on track on whatever your goals might be - nutrition, running a 5K or marathon the first time or doing the 1st pull up. Trainers watch and help correct form no matter which station you are at. Oh, and they have a "floating floor" which is easier on the knees. It is recommended to keep outside shoes separate from gym shoes. Greatly enjoy the 45mins of working out here. It's not easy but I am challenged to give it my best. There is atleast 1free Saturday a month if you wish to give it a try.
