Staff is a little intense but if it wasn't for my personal trainer that comes to the gym with me I would definitely use one of theirs. Used to go here years ago. Freaking stopped going and they kept charging my account when I got incarcerated. Called them when I was inside and going to court. They said they turned me over to central collections because I didn't call to cancel my membership. How the heck can I call when I don't have access to a phone like a normal person when your locked up. So long story short I go to pay collections when I have the money. Turns out they don't have the file # for my claim and i couldn't even pay it. Now when I went back to "The Gym" to sign up I try and talk with the staff. And the second I start articulating my thoughts about the whole thing , and ask how to proceed forward. They blow up on me, interrupt, and pretty much re-direct whatever feelings their feeling about the day, themselves, their work, idk. But I went in there and they projected so much hate on me just for asking a simple question and trying to get my debt payed properly. I have been a member of this gym since the day that it opened. The environment is what you make it. If you want to make friends, you can. If you want to focus on your own journey and stay to yourself, you definitely can. I don't run to the front desk and complain about every little thing. You gain respect that way from other members. The women's restroom always smells (it's beyond the gym to be honest, that's personal hygiene or the lack thereof). Other than that, there are times where groups of friends will come to socialize and it seems like they are at the machines forever joking and messing around, I ask once if they are finished, and most often, they move. You will encounter a few rude folk, but I let it go because you never know what anyone else is going through. I love my gym, love the atmosphere, never in this 10+ years have I encountered any rude staff. They always go above and beyond to accommodate you. I appreciate that. You can ask how to use a machine, you can ask anything, and even if they do not know the answer, they are still sweet about it (men and women). I recommend this gym to anyone who has gym intimidation as the lighting, vibe, and setting make it less fearful and scary. Start your journey today, you won't regret it! read more

The people that go there don't follow the rules and they wear their filthy sneakers in the sauna and steam room. When the doors clearly have signs on them that say no shoes allowed and I've seen people fully clothed in the sauna and the steam room putting their dirty shoes everywhere where you're supposed to sit when wearing a bikini.. the employees they only care about money and do not care to enforce their own rules. And they do not have clean lockers. I had a membership for about three days and all around it was a bad experience. The only thing I liked about this place was that they were open 24 hours. i'm assuming that's why they have dim lights because it is a filthy gym and they do not like to clean. i'm not trying to catch any diseases from someone's dirty ass shoes in the steam room. read more

New to the area and didn't understand just disgusting hate can feel when your the only one who looks like you in The Gym. The predominately Mexican staff and black male personal trainer harassed me right outta there because I didn't know about a rule that, like a mirage, appeared when I broke it. Also, there is a mold issue in the 2nd to last women's shower that is easy to smell and is spreading. Wear flip flops or shower at home ladies. read more

I had to cancel a previous membership back in 2023 because I had a serious illness and was undergoing treatment for about a year. Because I couldn't get around at the time the manager agreed to make an exception and cancel it via email. I recently went and got a new membership and was going to the gym regularly for about a week and a half. Today I walked in scanned my card and was stopped by Elvira. She was so incredibly rude to me and wouldn't allow me in. She said I was in collections for a previous membership. I have absolutely nothing on my credit in collections. I showed her the email I had from the previous manager agreeing to cancel my membership. I also told her I just paid for my new membership she wouldn't listen to anything I had to say. She called her manager Jessica F. And would not share with her what I was showing her. My proof. She kept saying I was reimbursed. What I was reimbursed for was the membership I canceled. They still charged me for my new membership. Her response to me saying that a manager Erin canceled and reimbursed me my old membership was "oh well they dont work here anymore" even with me showing her the email i am uploading here. She wouldn't listen to me and just humiliated me in front of other members. I left in tears. I went to Freedom Fitness and they where so kind. I got my workout in and a membership for me and my daughter there. Came home to make a report with my bank since I am being charged for a gym membership at The Gym and they won't let me in. Visiting the area for work, and went searching for this gym. Read the previous reviews. Sounds like some people had some issues about this place. Then again they probably have issues with themselves as adults. - Front desk staff were very welcoming. - The music was pumping and had a great vibe. - Bathrooms and gym as a whole was very clean. - EQUIPMENT was def on point. - This ain't Planet fitness so go back there. -Members were here to workout and not bs. I've been to this gym a few times I've gone up the hill to visit my grandparents, and recently went across their Instagram to see a very childish, disgusting video of one of their employees mocking a situation that happened at the gym. Where the customer was kicked out accused of something that didn't happen. This employee has multiple complaints against him. They have issued the customer an apology. So they know they were in the wrong. But I come across their social media and they put up a disgusting video of them mocking the situation. In which they were 100% wrong in. Shame on you guys. What kind of a business is this? I will no longer be giving you any more of my time or my time. And I do not recommend this place to anyone especially if they have bullies for employees that work there and they don't see that is a problem. Customer service is everything and you have failed that in every aspect. Been following the instagram of this gym for a few months and recently saw the disgusting and childish video they posted essentially rewarding an employee for being aggressive and abusing their power over another member.... turns out multiple people who frequent this gym say the owner only hires family or close friends... which is why they are now making fun of the victim. $10 month you get $10 customer service! Management promised me I could change my membership with my daughters. I purposely stopped the pmts and it went into collections because I got the run around for 8 months! Jacob L. The owner personally okayed it. His All female staff that have an animosity towards anyone that questions them made excuses every time I tried to take care of it. Jacob himself went out the back door once after telling to wait a minute for him! Arrogance and animosity is painted on all staff in membership and management! Yes it's dark but you can get a good workout Yes it's no contract , but I'd rather have one so they will stick to what they say! I left messages twice a week for Jacob and sent emails . No response! This is a picture of the last message I left for proof which front desk girl took offense to being in it and started the banning process on me. Went to this gym a few times with a buddy, and I decided to go ahead and get a membership. BIG MISTAKE! My first visit alone to the gym was crazy I could not believe the rude, unprofessional behavior of the front staff. I was told by Nicole that there was no contact cancel anytime, which I did but she didn't tell me I would be liable for all these fees. Do not get a membership. It is WAAAAYYYYYYY to packed at any time I've come in the early morning and past midnight and it's way too packed there is always people hogging up the machines. I stayed an hour from treadmill to stairs waiting for a machine to open and the SAME people that were there were still on it, it's ridiculous! I believe they are giving way to many memberships out and some people don't even work out they are just standing there talking in the way of others. This gym is like working out outside at Venice Beach or the prison rec yard. Apparently there is no dress code, there were numerous shirtless guys working out. I'm a bit more into hygiene, I don't really care to use a machine after a shirtless person sweated all over it and didn't bother to clean it. As far as cleaning equipment goes, you got several communal towels placed throughout the gym, on top of trash cans. I doubt that the towels get changed out much. I looked for paper towels to use to clean the equipment before I used it, but there weren't any. They do have spray bottles for cleaning, but I'm not sure what's in them, could be water. read more

This is an OK gym. The quality of it has declined a bit. Saunas are always busted or they have the temperture very low making it pointless to use and making there bill cheaper. Don't buy annual membership in advance. Was told I could bring plus one upon purchasing my membership and even paid for the whole year. Turns out I couldn't bring my guest and they were turned away at the counter. This is bad practice. Not like I bought the membership only to not be able to use my membership to the full capacity. They cited due to COVID and they've been reaching full capacity recently, yet huge banners on the front of the building call for recalling newsom, being open, no one wearing masks here, and claiming that gyms are essential contradict the attendants statement that due to COVID concerns. It's not like they temp check or follow any of the cdc guidelines. Well guess what, apparently your membership of service is only selling members short. Your better off paying a month to month if you don't have another gym to utilize. Look, I agree gyms are essential, and agree masks are optional at your own risk, but I say who cares about wiping down sweat if you don't care about COVID. Don't cite COVID to me when your business model contradicts the guidelines. And then dishonor my membership after I've paid in full. And then embarrass my guest because you've had a change in service agreement. And just about no one cleans equipment, but I guess thats covid ok On the bright side, the gym features nice open showers, has gender separated saunas, and the atmosphere is like a dark rave club feel. read more
