First issue was the pools which they claim is "heated" on the website and everywhere else, and if it is heated it's only to a frigid 72 degrees. The worst was when, without warning the bathroom sink started filing up with water when the faucet was off due to a pipe clog. Maintenance informed me it was likely due to a clog in the building from earlier. Water started overflowing onto the bathroom floor. I threw as many towels we had to stop it from flowing everywhere into the floor of the main room. No big deal, stuff happens, but I requested housekeeping come clean up the towels at 4:00pm and at 7:00pm still nothing had happened. Told multiple folks, maintenance and the front desk about the mess THEIR clogged pipes caused, and it still took a while for them to send anyone to fix THEIR problem. Insanely poor service-- I would not recommended this place.

It is a 5 star hotel and has under 50 rooms (43 to be exact). The lobby is gorgeous with dark wooden fixtures, carpets and comfortable couches. We were there in December and the Christmas trees were decorated beautifully. As soon as you arrive at The Lodge, you are welcomed by name and escorted to your room by a butler. I loved the European feel of the Lodge and each room was made to look like a room in a European castle. The artwork reminded me of Belgium and so did the heavy wood. The intent was to look like an English manor, even though it was actually built early in the 20th century. As you enter your room, your have a walk in area with wet bar, Nespresso machine, ironing board that pulls down from the closet and closet area. The bathroom is then also off of the main entryway and has dual sinks, classic metal handles and a pedestol tub. The shower was a huge walk-in shower made of marble and the handles reminded me of something from London in the early 1900's. The toiletries are by Milton Brown. As you then step into your bedoom, the Lodge will cleverly put on the Golf channel during turn-down service at night. Cookies are also part of the nightly service. The bed was very comfortable and I really enjoyed the patio with chairs that overlooked the water. It was all very peaceful and serene. The sitting area in the room was also nice and there was a big desk to work. The ceilings are made of wooden beams and add elevation to the room. I did feel like I was staying in another country and truly loved my stay. Each night around 5pm, a bagpiper marches up the field in front of the patio of the Lodge. You can sit on an Adirondack chair and listen and have an evening cocktail as the sun sets. Dining: There is the Oak Room which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Colt and Alison is the high end steakhouse serving dinner with a view of the golf greens. We had a fantastic meal here and Chef Danny is very talented. We also enjoyed breakfast and lunch in the Oak Room. Another interesting tidbit I learned is that you can take one of the BMW 750 series that is parked in the front of the Lodge and drive it over to the Cloister and other part of the hotel. The goal is to get you to test drive and this has turned out to be very profitable for this BMW dealer. I did not get a chance to make it to the Cloister and would like to go next time. The staff was amazing and the service everywhere was excellent. There is also a little gift pro shop with golf wear, souvenirs and high end sunglasses and apparel for sale. I highly recommend this resort for a quiet getaway and Southern hospitality.

Quiet property, rooms well maintained and recently updated, great marsh views, and minutes away from the best restaurants on the island. Super friendly and accommodating staff, especially Gabriel, Michaela, and Khellen (probably misspelled those last two). I did have a minor billing error, but the folks at the front desk made sure to resolve it. My only dings on the room would be the indoor humidity level (but hey, you're steps away from the marsh, what do you expect) and the shower being in need of a deep cleaning (bit of mold and soap scum buildup). Also--and this is super minor--there is no shelf in the shower, so you're stuck storing your toiletries on the floor if you don't want to use the hotel-provided stuff. Oh, and there's no lifeguard on duty at the pool, so it can get a bit rowdy depending on how many teenagers are around. All in all, I'm very happy with my stay here, and would definitely recommend this property if you don't want to deal with the craziness around the south end of the island. Also, for the other reviewer who said they had to haul their luggage up stairs... there are ramps at every building. You just have to look for them.

This is really run like a small, mom and pop hotel, that is severely understaffed. The front desk works extremely hard, seems like there is usually only one person there at a time, and it can be a lot to handle. They are completely out of soap. No soap in bathrooms to wash your hands. Gives off vibes like they do not have enough money to buy the staples to keep this place going. They have scheduled daily "cocktail" hours, like cookies, games, mocktails, etc....... yet, no one manages it, no one there is making the drinks, making the cookies. These are the little things that make "resort" hotels a little nicer. But they don't feel like they need to bother. The pool was closed for remodeling, I wish we were told when we booked, we probably would have stayed at another property. (Yes, you could use their sister property in theory, but that really wasn't convenient for us). It seems like the hotels main focus is golf, keep the golfers happy, and it's good enough. But families, are brushed to the side. The room it self was good. Seems like each room is different. Good amount of space, especially if you are staying for an extended amount of time. I wish there were really glass wear in the room like most Hilton hotels. Shower was disgusting, pretty sure it wasn't stained, just poorly cleaned. You have to request housekeeping, which we typically don't use, but it's nice when you at least see housekeeping regularly so you can give them your trash or get fresh towels. We had no where to put our garbage. Rooms are designed weird, where you enter one door, with your key, just to get access to 3 more doors. So there is 300, 300A, 300B. Which can be very confusing. Some reason, they labeled every room at their hotel with 300. First floor, 300's, Second floor, 300's... The views were nice, it does look nice in the area, nice greenery and small lakes. Big marsh views, for the most part you get privacy, you can open up your windows. But there are people walking their dogs early in the morning.

I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner at Brunswick Country Club. The dinner was held on a Friday…read morenight and it appeared the entire club shut down for our private party. The clubhouse opened in 2009, so it's relatively new. The clubhouse has a modern yet traditional design. Modest, elegant, and spacious. We spent our time at the bar and grill and in the main dining room. Both rooms had expansive views of the golf course. From the holes I saw, the golf course looked very flat with not too many trees. The course was originally designed by Donald Ross. Love Golf Design (Davis Love III's company) restored it in 2007. The bar was small and had a large flatscreen TV playing Golf Channel. The dining room and lobby were large and open. Several staff were on hand to handle our group. I'm bad at estimating numbers of people, but I'd venture to guess we had about 40-50 people at the dinner. Dinner was preceded by light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Hors d'oeuvres included various deep-fried seafood concoctions involving shrimp and crab. This was fitting since we were at the Golden Isles of Georgia (barrier islands). The dining room tables were covered in white tablecloth and had a sea island theme with fishing nets and seashells. The dinner consisted of both a seated portion and a buffet portion. During the seated portion, we were served dinner rolls, soup (corn bisque with shrimp), and salad. The self-serve buffet portion contained a Southern smorgasbord of goodies: fried chicken, turkey, collard greens, fried okra, mac and cheese, etc. I loved the regional selection. My personal favorite touch was the bottles of Texas Pete Pepper Sauce next to the collard greens. I love this sauce and it makes most Southern green veggies instantly better with its whole green Tabasco peppers and vinegar. Dessert included peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream. Overall, Brunswick Country Club provided fantastic food and service and a classy ambiance. A great time was had by all.

As are the fairways and greens even in late November. We had an excellent time out there, this is one of the courses that I play, every time I come to Saint Simons. They have all the best monitoring and video equipment, guaranteeing the data-driven, video-enhanced experience that everyone talks about but few provide. Also a great place for lessons. The owner is on PXG staff. He not only knows what he's doing but it's clear he thoroughly enjoys what he's doing.
