After grabbing our clubs and color coded balls (pink, purple & teal of course!) We chose the beginner course. The best part on this 90+ degree day you ask? The beginner course was pretty shaded with covers making the heat way more bearable. Each spot had an adorable feature either beside or to golf through some were quite the challenge! We had lots of laughs and tons of fun trying to get a hole in one which by the way only one of us was able to make (all I'll say was that it wasn't me or Bob who made it!) 10 out of 10 it's a must stop on any Jekyll Island trip!

Even when we walked in at 8:59 he still made us ice cream cones and gave us time to choose our ice cream without rushing us or making us feel like we were keeping him. Bricks are out of place, rotting railings, water spilling out onto the holes etc. perhaps the turf has been replaced over the past two years or so. If someone who worked there took 30 minutes to blow off the holes with a leaf blower at the start of the day, you would not have so much mulch, leaves and other "challenges" to get your ball in the hole. Many of them are dog friendly but be sure to check. During peak season it can get $$$ Driftwood beach and the pier are two of my favorite places on the island. The ruins are also a neat place to hike. I have posted separate reviews for all the places I've really enjoyed in the island. The food on the island is a mix of delicious and let downs. Be sure to check out some of the restaurants that are not right in the town village part. The locals tend to avoid them and after my last couple of visits I will too. The holes are challenging enough to keep things fun without being frustrating, and the staff was friendly during our visit. I have been inside the recreation center now twice. Once for an art auction and now for the CCW…read morewrestling championship. Yes nothing like a good old fashioned knock down drag out wrestling entertainment to get anyone yelling. The gym are is large as they had a wrestling ring set up along with an entry way for the wrestlers to come into the area while being introduced. This place is big enough to have chairs all around a wrestling ring and to the wall and standing room only, (I think they had to turn people away) this was a popular event. During the art auction, the rugs were laying all over the large floor area, plus they had numerous paintings and sculptures displayed. During events, there is a kitchen area where they sell hot dogs and sodas and probably other items depending on the concession person involved. Please watch your step as you exit the building at night as the lighting is poor and the brick planter area out front is a tripping hazard as we found out during our exit, thus the check in at the ER.
